Totally Gorjuss 185 - Just Because!

Good morning everyone. Hope the weather's a bit better now for the Bank Holiday weekend. Needless to say I'm not on holiday on Monday :-(  But looking on the bright side I'm off the next Monday as it's a local holiday in my part of Aberdeenshire. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, a bit windy but not too bad! Thursday was my day off and my friend and I went off craft shopping. We only got caught in one hail shower  but it was windy and cold and showery. When I took the dogs out about 5pm it was really wet and even windier. I was soaked right through! I'm sure my jacket was still damp when we went out on Friday morning.

But we don't need to think about holidays or weather at Totally Gorjuss this week. Our challenge is very easy, it's "Just Because." That should give you plenty of scope to use your imagination!

Here's what I came up with this week.

I used :-
Image and DP :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment and punches :- Stampin' Up!
Ribbon and Bakers' Twine :- Ribbon Girl.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Buttons from stash.

I realised when I was colouring this cute image that I'm really bad at colouring!! I think I should stick to things that need little or even no colouring. I think I've made a bit of a mess of this one.

Challenges :-
Passion for Promarkers :- Anything Goes.
Lili's Little Fairies :- Spots and Stripes.
Charisma :- Here comes Summer - must be Summer, he's zooming about in an open top car!
Addicted to Stamps and More :- Anything Goes.

Well I've got work this morning so I'll see you all later.

Thanks for looking and I love to read your comments so please leave me on if you have a minute to spare.

I used :-
Image and DP :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Stampin' Up!
Glamour Dust, Dienamics Fishtail Flags die, 2 Stamping' Up punches for sentiment and button from stash.

Challenges :-
Lili's Little Fairies. :- Thank you.

I'll be back later with the sketch challenge details as this one ends soon!

Isn't this a great sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

Loving that boat!

Good morning everyone, can't believe it's Saturday again already! It's been quite hectic since last Saturday. Even with a day off on Monday I've not achieved very much! I've never taken a day off work on my birthday before but I think I'll do it again! Then on Thursday I had Messy Church so that took up most of my day and of course I was shattered at night! On the bright side though that's the last one till September. I do enjoy it but it can be a bit of a strain trying to think up something the kids will enjoy doing. And more importantly something they can do easily as some of them are quite young.

Anyway it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week the theme is "Water, water." We'd like to see some water on your card or project. I wasn't sure I had an image that fitted the theme then I remembered this little cutie. Not sure about the water. It looks a bit weird because my favourite pale blue Promarker is running out.

I used :-
Image and DP :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Stampin' Up! cut out with a punch also from SU.
Bakers' Twine :- Ribbon Girl.
Ribbon and buttons from stash.

Challenges :-

Seize the Birthday :-sketch

LOTV monthly challenge :- Boy oh Boy.

I've got a crop this afternoon after work so I'll try to catch up tonight.

Thanks for looking and if you've got time to leave me a comment I'd love to hear what you think.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Mini Bear.

Hi everyone. You wouldn't think I'd had a day off today when I'm ending up posting at this time of day. I had so much catching up to do and I even read the papers. And of course I had lots of texts to reply to with everyone sending me happy birthday wishes. I think I'm up to date now but I feel a bit lazy having only made one very simple card.

My family were all here at the weekend, only from Saturday afternoon till Sunday afternoon but it was a bit hectic. With 6 adults, two children and 4 Labradors it felt quite busy. All three of my children had gone together and paid for our meal and my presents. One of my birthday presents was a posh bag from Joules. Just after Catriona and family left I picked up the bag to take it through to my bedroom. When I looked inside Poppy's favourite Winnie the Pooh was inside. It's one of those sort of comfort blankets. I gave her it when she was a  baby. It's just a head with a sort of blanket type body and four paws. She has a few of them and Oliver has a few Tiggers the same. Needless to say she needed it Catriona said when we sent her a text! So I said I'd post it. For a bit of fun I took photos of him doing various things like helping to fold my washing, watching me ironing and having a nap in the bed Poppy slept in here. Then today he had to go in a padded envelope with some chocolate buttons, go in the car, get weighed at the post office and the last pic was my colleague putting the envelope in the mail bag! Poppy really liked getting the photos and reading what he was doing. I think he'll probably turn up in Crieff tomorrow!

I don't think this card has  turned out as it was in my head. Maybe I should have used a different colour to stamp the image and sentiment. What do you think? I'm not really happy with this card but it's done now!

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- LOTV.
Cardstock :- Stampin' Up! Pool Party.
Ink :- SU Pool Party.
I pierced round the edge using the SU Essentials Paper-Piercing pack.

Challenges:-

CAS Monday with LOTV :- CAS LOTV card.
Daring Cardmakers :- Ink it up.
Totally Papercrafts :- CAS.
Less is More :- Coloured card blank. One layer.
Addicted to Stamps and More :- Addicted to CAS.

That's me now I think. I'm watching that fantastic programme about the Hebrides. It's narrated by Ewan McGregor and the photography is amazing. The scenery and wildlife are just stunning. I don't know if it's networked or just showing in Scotland but don't miss it it's just as good as all these programmes from exotic places. The underwater filming is incredible. The underwater reefs are really spectacular. Crikey you'd think I worked for the Visit Scotland or something!

Anyway thanks for looking and thanks to everyone for happy birhday/anniversary wishes. I'm not really sure where 37 years disappeared to!

You'd get less for murder!!!!

Well so they say! What I mean is tomorrow is my Wedding Anniversary and birthday. When we were going to get married 37 years ago the minister thought it would be nice to get married on my birthday! I suppose if hubby forgets one he forgets both lol! Anyway here's the card I made for him yeserday. And it's sitting next to the birthday cards I've already got ready for him to open tomorrow. Usually I'm finishing it late on the 12th. I thought I'd best be organised since everyone was here this weekend. Catriona and her husband and kids and dogs left after lunchtime so that Poppy would have time to do her homework and Iain and Mhairi left soon after them. Then we went to Tesco to get a Tesco finest meal for two and then went for an ice cream. Quite different from the fantastic meal we had at our favourite Indian restaurant. My son-in-law thinks it's the best one anywhere!

So here's the card - I hope, since as I'm writing this my connection is so bad that I can't upload my photo. Fingers crossed I'll be able to do it soon before I lose my temper with it. Too late I'm already pretty annoyed!

I used :-
Circle Burst die :- Memory Box.
Hearts :- Stampin' Up! Fashionable Hearts Embosslits.
Husband :- Hero Arts
Happy Anniversary :- Rubber Stampede.

I need to go and catch up with what's going on blogland as I didn't get a chance to do anything yesterday before everyone came. I did take the morning off yesterday but I went to a Christian Aid coffee morning instead. I usually miss any coffee mornings in the village as I work every Saturday so it was nice to go and have a chat and a coffee. I even won a prize in the raffle. There were a lot of prizes and a couple of people won more than one!

Thanks for looking and I'm hoping to get some quality crafting time tomorrow!

I'd love to hear from you if you've got a minute to spare.

Bingo at Totally Gorjuss!

Good morning everyone, what a bad blogger I am. I haven't posted since last Saturday!  I've baked, been to a WRI meeting (with my baking) and been out crafting with friends. And last but not least I've done a lot of housework. My family are all coming at the weekend and we're having a meal at our favourite Indian restaurant. Today is my brother's birthday, he's nine years and 2 days older than me. I've even taken the day off on Monday for a change. Just a note...

Hi everyone, hope you're all fine. I would say I am but I seem to have developed a bit of a cold so I'm a bit fed up!

I enjoyed making a card the other day for Less is More using Jen's lovely colour combo and layout. So today I couldn't resist making another one. This time I've used a different colour combo. Do you like this lovely ridged Kraft card I found in my stash and some of my favourite Lilac Bazzill card.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV popped up on sticky pads for some dimension.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Fishtail :- Stampin' Up! Stamped with Hero Arts

Envelope pattern in Wisteria Wonder.

Well that took ages to upload that pic, my broadband's hopeless tonight!

Hope you like and feel free to tell me what you think, I love to read your comments. Sometimes I need a wee bit of encouragement. At least I get a day off tomorrow. I hope I can get some crafting done.

By the way have you entered my candy yet? I added some more items to it and I extended it to next Tuesday, the 30th.

Thanks for looking.

Totally Gorjuss 180 Embossed.

Good morning from a lovely sunny, bright Aberdeenshire. So far!!

I need to be super quick here as I forgot to schedule this post and I need to have breakfast and get my hair washed before work. I have a crop this afternoon so I can't just be a wee bit late posting.

This week at Totally Gorjuss we'd like to see some embossing. Ours sponsor this week is Heather's Hobbie Haven so why don't you come and join us? We'd love to see you.

Here's what I made.

Now I really need to go. I'll come back later and add some details of what I used to make this card.

Thanks for looking.

Congratulations!

Not sure if I need a Congratulations card for a Graduation any time soon but if I do I'm prepared with this little cutie.

When I saw that the challenge at Less is More is a one layer card and the subject is "A Film" I thought I was going to be struggling. It's not the one layer part that bothers me as I'm getting used to that now. No, it was the film part. I usually struggle with making a card to depict a film or a tune. Then I had a bit of a brainwave! My favourite ever film is "The Graduate." I remember seeing it years ago, and I won't say how long ago, with  my boyfriend. Trying not to drool over Dustin Hoffmann! After that I would have watched anything with Dustin Hoffmann in it and if I'm honest I still would. Don't tell my hubby though.

Isn't he cute. I added blue to his gown as that's the colour of the hood of my graduation gown. A wee while ago now.

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Watercolour pencils.

I'm also entering the challenge at Crafting When We Can which is "At the Movies."

I have one or two more ideas for the LIM challenge so I might be back later in the week. Unfortunately I have some knitting I need to sew up for a WRI competition on Wednesday. I also need to bake for another competition. It's also our AGM and I'm feeling quite pleased with myself because my books are done and were exactly right first time. My boss is auditing them for me now and all I have to do now is sort out the points prizes. At our monthly meetings we have either one or two competitions and get points for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd. At the end of the year the member in charge of this works out who is 1st and 2nd overall and who has entered most competitions and got fewest prizes. We call this the endeavour shield now as most entries fewest prizes doesn't really sound very nice especially since there are only a few of us and it depends on the judge who might not know anything about what they're judging!

As some of you might know I work in my local sub-post office. The subpostmistress does not work due to health problems so I do everything that she would do. ie ordering cash, stock and stationery and doing the weekly balance. We were audited recently and to the auditors' surprise we were balanced to the penny. They told my boss that this never happened! She said that I liked everything to be right so she wasn't surprised. One of the auditors asked if I had worked in a bank and she said that I had. When I worked in the bank we had to balance to the penny every night before we could go home so I guess old habits die hard! My colleague was working that morning and they were pleased with how well she was doing since she has only been in the P.O. for about a year and a half. Needless to say neither of us got a nice bonus for our good work. We were both pretty chuffed though.

Enough wittering though, I'm off to have a nose around the blogs and see if I need to do any DT commenting.

Thanks for looking and I love to read what you think. So if you've got a minute to spare I'd love to hear from you.

Totally Gorjuss 179 - Spring Shades.

Hi everyone, time for another challenge over at Totally Gorjuss. This week we would like you to use Spring Colours. Now I don't know about where you are but it doesn't feel very Spring-like here in Aberdeenshire. Maybe using Spring colours will cheer us all up. And if that doesn't cheer you up maybe the thought of spending the £10 prize at our lovely sponsor Crafter's Companion will!

This is what I made.

I used :-
Image and DP :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Pearls and rhinestones :- Hobby House.
Glamour Dust and ribbon.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
The Pink Elephant :- Use Spring colours.
Created with Love :- 1 image, 2 DPs and 3 embellishments.
Simon Says Stamp :- April Showers and/or Spring Flowers.
Cute Card Thursday :- Butterfly Kisses.
In the Pink :- Let's Fly Away.
Joanna Sheen :- Spring into Spring.
Papertake Weekly :- Blooms, ribbon and gems.

I'll catch up later after work. But in the meantime have you seen my candy? Everyone is welcome to enter so please remember to add your name. You still have a week to enter and you know what they say - you have to be in it to win it.

Thanks for looking and have a lovely weekend.

Sleepy Little Bear!

Hi everyone, hope you're all well today. I'm happy because it's my day off and tonight I'm going to see some of my friends for some crafting.

I was crafting with another friend yesterday afternoon and started making this baby card. I loved the sketch from the Penny Black challenge so I decided to use it again. This is one of my favourite LOTV stamps for making baby cards. It's nice and simple and really easy to colour.

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Embossing folders :- Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Stampin' Up! Adorning Accents.
Rhinestones :- Hobby House.
Glamour Dust and ribbon.

I'm entering the challenge at :-
Ready Teddy Go :- Anything Goes.
Stamping Sensations :- Special Occasion - not birthday.
Gem of a Challenge :- Animals.

I'm having problems with my laptop. When I started trying to leave comments on blogs yesterday evening I discovered I had no letter t. Great - one of the letters you use most. After a lot of faffing around I can use it, not easily of course but at least it works after a fashion. doesn't have the top on it but I'm not proud. This was supposed to be a new keyboard last year but I'm not sure as the t key seems to have a worn patch on it! I don't really want to take it back to the repair shop as it could be away for days!

Anyway thanks for looking and I'll try to catch up later, keyboard permitting.

Do you like Poppies?

I do. I think they're among my favourite flowers. I know that Brenda loves Poppies too so I made this card to celebrate her blogaversary. Hope she likes it!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black Poppies.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Embossing folders :- Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Stampin' Up! Honeycomb.
Twine :- Ribbon Girl.
Pearls :- Hobby House.

I would have added black Stickles to the centre of the Poppies but I've lost them! I've searched everywhere but they've vanished. So I coloured the centres with black Promarker, then added some Glamour Dust and then more black Promarker. I wonder if the reason I've lost my black Stickles is because my table is a bit of a tip or if I've accidentally dropped them in my rubbish bag which has been binned! Suppose I'd best just buy a new bottle.

I used the lovely sketch from Penny Black so I'm entering their challenge. I'm also entering the challenge at Crafty Creations which is flowers or fairies.

Oops I've just noticed the time! I think I'd best go and do my ironing now.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

Less is More Lime and Black

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. Not sure what to make of the weather this weekend. Yesterday started off very frosty, then it was a lovely sunny day. But at night we had sleet or was it snow? Whatever it was it made the ground a bit white!

I made a very simple, very CAS card for Less is More. The theme this week is a colour one, they want us to use Lime and Black. Chrissie and Jen have made fabby cards to inspire us as usual. I have to admit that this isn't the card I set out to make but I got fed up trying to achieve what I wanted so I made this instead!

 I used :-
Sentiment :- Stampin' Up!
Ribbon from stash.

Mmmm not much I can say about this.....! There's just something about that "thank you" with its upper and lower case letters that I really like. It comes from a set called "Wacky Wishes" which I think will be very useful.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up later. Visiting your favourite blogs has to be better than doing your ironing but since I need some of it to wear to work tomorrow I guess I'll have to do it sometime!

This is what I made this week. I've been making a lot of simple cards this last while but I thought since we wanted to see glitter on your cards this week I would make a more elaborate card. Not sure that my cards ever actually inspire anyone but I do my best lol!

Totally Gorjuss 177 - Something Blue.

Well guess who's got no Internet connection! We think the neighbouring farmer must have pulled up our line when he ripped out a fence near our house. Just spoke to Post Office telephones and it's to be fixed by Tuesday. Couldn't have happened at a worse time!

This week at Totally Gorjuss our challenge is "Something Blue", we'd like to see lots of blue on your card or project. This is what I came up with. Sorry about the quality of the photo. It's not easy to take a photo with an iPad!

I used :-
Image :- Bugaboo digi image. Bugaboo is one of our sponsors this week along with Quixotic
DP :- LOTV.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Snowflake :- Spellbinders.
Colouring : Promarkers.
Ribbon from stash.
Glamour Dust.

I've even managed to add links even though I'm not used to using my IPad and Blogpress to write my posts. It's going to be a long few days till my laptop's in use again. Can't figure out how to schedule this post or even if you can so I'll just have to do it I the morning. I'm just happy to get it written and even have a photo in it!

Thanks for looking and your lovely comments. I'll catch up later.

Just a quick hello!

I'll have to be quick as I haven't had my lunch yet and I'm working this afternoon.

I made a quick card yesterday after I did my DT card for Saturday. At least it would have been quick if I hadn't dropped a stamp on my card. And yes, it was inky. I don't think my photo disguises the fact that the sentiment could be straighter. By that time I needed to walk dogs, finish making tea, make hubby's sandwiches, eat tea and get ready to go out. So I wasn't in the mood to make another one.

I used :
Flower from Fabulous Florets, border from Summer Silhouettes and sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments all from Stampin' Up!
Stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Gumball Green also from Stampin' Up!

I used the lovely sketch from Connie and Mary so I'm entering their challenge for the first time.

I hear two dogs wanting out to play in the sunshine so I'll stop now and catch you all later.

Thanks for looking and for any comments you leave. I always appreciate you taking the time to tell me what you think.

What Easter Egg?!

Looks like Mousie's a bit sleepy after eating all the chocolate lol!

I thought Poppy would like this card. It's more girly than the one I blogged yesterday.

I used :-
Image :- House Mouse.
Sentiment :- Penny Black inked with Wisteria Wonder SU marker.
Embossed panel :- SU Honeycomb.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Rhinestones :- Hobby House.
Ribbon from stash and Sakura clear, glitter gel pen.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Oldie but a Goodie :- Easter.
Creative Inspirations :- Spring Colours.
Stampin' for the Weekend :- Child's Play.
House Mouse :- Easter.
Created with Love :- Easter, all things that glitter.
Cute Card Thursday :- Easter Parade.

Hope you likey and please tell me what you think if you have a minute. I love to hear what you think and even better I love to visit other blogs. So if you leave me a comment I'll be able to visit you too.

Catch up later after work.

This Easter Egg looks yummy!

Saturday was a crop at my local craft shop and I decided I would take some bits and pieces to make Easter cards for Poppy and Oliver. We went to a Soup & Sweet lunch in aid of our village hall first. It was really well supported in spite of an incredibly cold day. I had yummy tattie (potato) soup and strawberry pavlova. Maybe this is why I had no notion of making a card when I got to the crop. So I did some knitting which I had taken as a fall back. After a wee while I decided to make a start on Oliver's card. Unfortunately when I looked at my coloured image it didn't look right (to me) beside the backing card and ribbon. The blue was wrong! I'm a bit picky about colours being right! So I went back to my knitting. When I got home I did make Oliver's card and one for Poppy. I also finished some packaging for their Easter present. So here's Oliver's card.

I used :-
Image :- Stampendous.

Yummy Bunnies.

I'm a bit late with this post. I seem to have spent my time before making tea catching up with my favourite blogs and challenges. I'll make this short because I still have my ironing to do!

I can't take any credit for these bunnies at all as someone more talented than me had the idea of making one and worked out how to make them.

At the crop last month one of my friends was making bunnies to hold Easter Eggs. She had found them in a magazine. I don't know which magazine but I'm sure some of you will recognise them. My friend who comes to mine every Wednesday bought the magazine and decided to make some too. So I thought why not? Neither of us fancied cutting out the bits with a knife so we used dies. She lent me her Sizzix ones for the ears and feet as my oval nesties are fatter than her Sizzix ovals. The teeth and nose are little hearts that I cut with a Memory Box die. The whiskers are fine string that my friend stiffened. I think the bunny on the right must have rubbed his nose before I took the photo as his whiskers look a bit odd!

The ones in the magazine look quite cute but I think mine have a kind of "caught in the headlights" look!! Still I don't suppose Poppy and Oliver will mind. After all there's chocolate eggs inside them.

I'm entering the challenge at Papertake Weekly which is Easter Treats.

Thanks for looking and for any comments you leave. I think I'll go off and so some DT work now before I do my ironing.
