Witches and Broomsticks.......!!

Hi everyone, as you can guess this post is to show you my Halloween makes. I managed to get them made yesterday as I really needed to post them today. Then I had to get a passport photo done. I'd rather go to the dentist than have a photo taken but needs must!!

This is what I made for Poppy, managing to use her favourite colour, green. I can take absolutely no credit for the treat bag as my friend showed me how to make it. She also stamped me a couple of witches as I thought Poppy might like a witch. Unfortunately I don't know what the make of the stamp is so if anyone knows.....?

DP :- MME.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Image :- Magnolia (card), ? (treat bag)
Colouring :- Distress Markers - bag, Promarkers - card.
Glitter markers on card :- Spica glitter gel pen.
Candi, Stampendous aged black embossing enamel.

And this is Oliver's bag and card.

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- Penny Black.
DP, Promarkers, embossing enamel and Candi as above.

I sent Catriona a text to say that I'd posted the parcel and if the children didn't like the sweeties she might have to eat them. She says I've got her wrong but I know what a sweet tooth she has, like me! The little spider sweeties are just chocolate but the eyeballs and brains have popping candy in them!

Well I'm off to try to do some catching up now. So much for my day off. I've achieved nothing apart from making a pot of soup and some stew. And the photos!!! I'm off out to the Guild in an hour to hear about a trip to China. Should be interesting.

Yesterday we were very lucky to have a guest preacher at my church. The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland was preaching as part of the celebrations of 1,000 years of churches in our parish. We were joined by members and clergy from the Congregational and Scottish Episcopal churches in the parish. Afterward we had a buffet in the church hall and the opportunity to have a chat. There was also a celebratory cake donated by a local baker. I think people will still be talking about this tonight. The Moderator is a very enthusiastic and charismatic man and I think everyone was impressed by him.

Thanks for looking and we're not usually late at the Guild so I might manage to do some more catching up.

Oops now it's Tuesday evening and I forgot to add the challenges I was going to enter! I've already had to change my mind about one as it's finished already.

Penny Black :- Sketch. Second card.
Creative Inspirations :- Happy Halloween. First card.
Crafty Creations :- Halloween Spooks. Second card
Cute Card Thursday :- Something Scary. First card.
Charisma :- Don't be square. First treat bag.
Totally Papercrafts :- Spooky Halloween. First treat bag.
Cupcake :- Witches or Pumpkins. First card.
Created with Love :- Happy Halloween. Treat bags.

Hope I've got this ok now!

I heard from Catriona this morning and the parcel has arrived and she's trying to stop Oliver from eating everything! He loves chocolate and he thinks the popping candy sweets are funny lol.

Sunday 28 October 2012

Look what I bought!!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm a bit late tonight but here's what I bought at the SECC yesterday. I haven't had time to play with any of it yet because I've been busy finishing Halloween treat bags for Poppy and Oliver and making cards so that I can post them tomorrow. I have a day off tomorrow. Yeah.....!! I usually take the Monday off after my Sunday trip to the craft show at the SECC so I decided to still take it even though I was going on Saturday instead. Then I did my ironing to get it out of the way lol!

I didn't get much did I? And I even came home with some money. Well there were a couple of things I couldn't find lol! I've been online and ordered one of them and a couple of Snowman embossing folders from Crafter's Companion that my friend wanted.

Edited to add I forgot about the Spellbinders 2012 Christmas tree and the 3 LOTV stamps!

We also went across to the other hall where people were selling all sorts of things from chocolates to jewellery to pastries and cheese. I couldn't resist the above. It's a slate with the picture on and varnished over. Pity about the lack of an apostrophe in we're! These dogs are so like Max and Blue. Not true about the cats though, they haven't much experience of cats. Except a particularly vicious one they met in Crieff when we were visiting my daughter. Apparently this cat hides and lies in wait to attack. I don't think it's fussy if it's people or dogs!

I'll pop back tomorrow to let you see my Halloween makes.

Totally Gorjuss 155 - Things with Wings.

Good morning everyone. I'm hoping that when you read this I'll be on my way to the SECC in Glasgow for the craft show. We're supposed to be leaving at 7.30am! I usually go on the Sunday on a bus with a lot of other crafters but I have something else on tomorrow so my husband is driving us down.

Here's my card for Totally Gorjuss where our challenge is "Things with Wings." We have a new sponsor this week, Crafty Poodles, so don't forget to pop over and check them out.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Promarkers and Liquid Pearls.
Sentiment and candi :- Craftwork Cards.
DP :- First Edition.

I'm entering the following challenges :-

I may have to catch up with you on Sunday since I'll probably not be home all that early tonight.

Thanks for looking and I'd love to hear what you think of my card. That's number 50 now!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone. It's very cold here and we had snow and hail showers on Friday. Hope it's only rain today at the worst lol!

Thursday 25 October 2012

Sorry Iain.......!!

Do you think my son'll forgive me for giving him a card with a Ferrari on it? When I saw the set of stamps that includes this one the other week I knew it would be useful. It has 6 images this size and a smaller version of two of them plus all their names. I think all the males in our family like cars!

I used :-
Image:- Papermania.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts -Typewriter letters.
DP :- MME.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
You can't see it but the car has been embossed and put on sticky pads for a bit of dimension.

Challenges :-
Sketch Saturday :- Sketch.
By the Cute and Girly :- Birthdays.

Thanks for looking, I'm off to catch up with my DT work now.

Wednesday 24 October 2012

Even more snowflakes!

Hi there everyone, these are the other two cards I made with my new embossing folders from the Snowman collection from Crafters' Companion and the Spellbinders Create-a-Flake 4. I used Ranger liquid pearls and Papermania shimmer dots on the lilac one and Hobby House pearls and a Spica glitter gel pen on the turquoise one. I love this embossing folder but I have to admit that the one I used yesterday is my favourite one.

I think this might fit the following challenges :-
ABC Christmas Challenge :- U for Up To You.
St Luke's Challenge :- CAS Christmas Card.

I'm scheduling this on Tuesday night then I'm off out to a meeting to discuss the questions for our annual quiz night at the WRI next month. Probably be a long night as we always get sidetracked and end up chatting about other things.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up later.

Tuesday 23 October 2012

Snowflakes and Swirls.

Hi everyone, seems like I haven't been online much for a day or two. I didn't even switch on my laptop yesterday and still don't have much to show for it.

I "had" to visit my local craft shop during their open day on Saturday. My friend and I had a little spend but we're still saving ourselves for the SECC on Saturday coming. I came home with a few stamped images that were being demonstrated. Thanks Jeannie. Needless to say I haven't coloured any of them yet but I have made some very simple cards.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day here so I got my washing and ironing done but between that and making the cards I didn't have any time to blog!

Recently I bought two lovely "Snowman" embossing folders and some DP. I haven't used the DP yet but here's what I made with one of the folders. I love this swirly folder, it's very elegant and I didn't do much else to it except add some gems and ribbon. Love this ribbon, must get some more!

This time I added a little tree charm too. I was looking at snowflake charms on Saturday but I didn't buy any because I knew I had some at home. Snag is I can't find them anywhere, all I could find was a few trees so that had to do. The lovely sentiment is from a Paula Pascual set.

Thanks for looking and I'll come back tomorrow with the other two cards

Totally Gorjuss 154 - Bling it On.

Good morning everyone, can't believe I haven't posted since last Saturday! I haven't been totally idle but not anything finished to show you.

But I have got a card for this week's challenge at Totally Gorjuss at least. Hope Mr Blogger allows me to schedule this post. I keep getting a message saying an error occurred while trying to save or publish the post. This has been happening for weeks now but luckily sometimes I'm allowed to publish my post!

Our challenge this week is "Bling it on" so that's not difficult is it? I know we all love our gems and glitter and shiny things so you should easily be able to join us. We're sponsored by Heather's Hobbie Haven this week so don't forget to pop over and see what she has to tempt you.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Embossing folder :- Cuttlebug.
Snowflakes :- Martha Stewart punches.
Star :- Memory Box.
Gems :- Hobby House.
Candi, ribbon and Glamour Dust.

I'd like to enter the following challenges :-
Everybody Art :- Glimmer.
ABC Christmas :- Up to you.
Cute Card Thursday :- Got Glitter.
Hotshot Crafts :- Bling.
Stampalot challenge :-Punch Away.
Penny Black and More at Allsorts :- Animal Magic.

I've been careful to only enter 6 challenges as that is the maximum number for the Stampalot challenge! I'm not really one for entering lots and lots of challenges with one card but I haven't entered much recently.

I hope Mr Blogger is kind enough to post this for me as I won't have a chance to check till later as I'm going to an open day at my local craft shop after work. I'm looking forward to seeing what new goodies they have to tempt us. I've not had a chance to go there recently and it's always nice to see things in real life instead of just online.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up later.

Totally Gorjuss 153 - Traditional Christmas Colours.

Good morning everyone don't you just love broadband........not! I tried to schedule this as usual but my connection was very bad last night and it didn't happen. So here I am now with this week's challenge at Totally Gorjuss which is "Traditional Christmas Colours" this week. We're sponsored by Crafters Companion so I hope you can join us.

I used :-
Image and DP :- LOTV.
Sentiment and Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflakes :- Martha Stewart punches.
Glamour Dust, jewels and nesties.

I'll come back later and add some challenges as it's now 7.20am and I need to get ready for work.

Edited to add :- Thanks for nothing Mr Blogger!! Instead of posting this at 8am I found it still in draft form! I wouldn't mind if I thought I'd made a mistake but I'm sure I left it to post at 8am, I definitely don't remember seeing the word draft against the post. Still better late than never.

I'd like to enter the following challenges :-
Christmas Challenges with Sketches :- Sketch.
Simon Says Stamp :- Dies and/or punches.
Paperplay :- Simply Cute.
Creative Inspirations :- Anything Goes.
Papertake Weekly :- All Creatures Great and Small.
Craft Hazelnut's Challenge :-Snowflakes. Thanks for suggesting this Hazel.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas.........

Yeah I know I said I was going to do something different to Christmas cards. I really meant it but I found this  image all glittered and ready to make into a card.

I'm really annoyed at how horrible this photo is. In real life it's not a bad card and it's all lovely and glittery and the red ribbon doesn't look off at all. The colour is much more like the red card! I might get a better pic but certainly not tonight. I've been trying to upload this photo for more than an hour. Broadband connection is really poor here thanks to BT, who only care about making it better for cities.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV.
Snowflakes :- Martha Stewart punches.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Embossing folders, Glamour Dust, ribbon and Hobby House pearls.

Oh help I just remembered I was going to enter this card in Crafty Hazelnut's challenge. :- Carol Singers.

I hope I can get this posted. When I started this post I had plenty of time but that was about 8pm and now it's nearly 10pm!

Well it didn't happen. Even though I was still in time my connection was so poor that I couldn't enter the challenge. But I used the sketch at Charisma so I'm entering that challenge.

Catch up later, thanks for looking.

Thursday 11 October 2012

The last one!!!

No don't worry I haven't finished my Christmas cards it's just the last of the cards I made recently with LOTV cute squares! I've got 42 cards now and I can see that the theme this year is mainly white backgrounds, some plain but most embossed. I have some more ideas thanks to the lovely and talented Erika at Snappy Crafts and of course Kath.

I used :-
Image LOTV :-  cute square.
Sentiment and Candi :- Craftwork cards.
Embossing :- Cuttlebug folder.
Snowflakes :- Martha Stewart punches.
Ribbon and Glamour Dust.

I'm a bit late today. The day started ok but I have to finish the weekly balance at the Post Office on a Thursday morning after I get Wednesdays online lottery figures. Didn't come through!! Ok just put through Tuesdays which came a day late. Problem. Traced it to a mistake the boss had made with scratchcards on Tuesday. Threw stuff in bottom drawer and left a note for colleague and left as I needed to head to the dentist. I'm sure I don't need to tell you I couldn't get parked there so had to head for the nearest pay and display. Problem with change and of course misunderstood how to use machine. After dentist headed for Aberdeen and a coffee in John Lewis. Not easy to drink coffee after a filling but managed eventually! Bought a ticket for an event at Ortak. Real bargain. You pay £15 and get a pendant worth £55 and money off any purchases at the event. If you're anywhere near them it's worth going. Even if you don't have an Ortak near you if you shop online you often get emails with special offers. They're based in Orkney and they do gorgeous jewellery and not massively expensive either.

Well I'd best go and see what's happening at work. And get my papers. Boss was cracking up this morning cos no papers as the van had broken down. And everyone was phoning demanding to know where their paper was! Then I'm going to make a yummy chicken curry for tea.

Catch up later.

Wednesday 10 October 2012

Christmas Bunnies.

Sorry me again with another boring Christmas card!

I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute square..... again!
Martha Stewart snowflake punches.
Cuttlebug embossing folders.
Sentiment and Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Glamour Dust, velvet ribbon and lace.

Thanks for looking and if I don't catch up tonight I'll try to get round my favourite blogs tomorrow. This is my WRI meeting tonight. We're having a visit from another WRI who will entertain us and judge our competitions. I've got my Strawberry jam made so I just need to make some savoury scones, probably cheese, this afternoon. Wish me luck with the competitions, I'll probably need it!!

Tuesday 9 October 2012

Oh Christmas Tree........

Are you getting fed up with my Christmas cards yet? I'm just quietly working away at them and trying to make a few every week. I hope you aren't finding these ones this week too samey! I'm still trying to use some of my LOTV cute squares. I found a card this evening that I must have started when my friend was crafting with me last Wednesday. So I finished it just now before it got lost again!

This is another of Saturday's cards.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute square.
Sentiment and Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Cuttlebug embossing folders.
Martha Stewart snowflake punches.
Glamour Dust and ribbon.

I'm really quite into cards with a  white embossed background this year. Pity really since I've got some lovely Christmas papers. I've got some nice background stamps too so I must make more effort to use them too.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up later after work.

Monday 8 October 2012

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Don't panic I haven't lost the plot and think it's Christmas already! It's just what the sentiment on this card says. I was at a crop on Saturday and more or less made three cards. I didn't have and Candi or sentiments with me so I added them on Saturday night. I did manage to catch up with my favourite blogs and DT commenting after my usual Sunday things like cooking, washing and ironing! But I decided to schedule this for Monday morning instead of posting it on Sunday evening late.

I also managed to make some more strawberry jam as that's the competition at my WRI on Wednesday and  any later than today would have been a bit late. I'll need to make some cheese scones but I'll wait till Wednesday so they're nice and fresh. I also made shortbread with my lovely new Kenwood Chef. It was delivered on Monday and it's been sitting on my kitchen floor unopened. Good thing I've got quite a big kitchen lol!

But enough waffle, here's my card. I'm using up some of these cute squares from LOTV that I've had for a couple of years. They're really great for quick cards and you can add your own glitter to jazz them up and make them your own.

I used :-
Image :- Cute Square from LOTV.
Sentiment and Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Embossing folder :- Cuttlebug.
Glamour Dust, Promarker and ribbon.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up after work tonight. At least I'm only out once this week so I can keep up with all my favourite blogs and DT work. Might even manage some crafting!

Saturday 6 October 2012

Totally Gorjuss 152 - Anything Goes.

Good morning everyone, thank goodness it's Saturday! I've had a busy week lol! On Monday evening after being at work all day I was at a quiz that had been organized for all the WRIs in Aberdeenshire. It was good fun and while we didn't win anything, not even a raffle prize, we weren't far behind the winners. On Tuesday after work I had to have a quick tea and go to a quiz organized by a WRI in our group. This time we were third only half a point behind the second placed team and two of us won a raffle prize. And even better we had lovely sandwiches, scones, pancakes, cakes and traybakes. On my precious day off I had to go to the dentist for a check up. In the afternoon I had been roped into helping out at Messy Church which is a new initiative for us. Children come along with a parent or some other adult. They get a snack and then there are a range of activities like painting, crafts, board games, books etc. Then there is a short bible story and maybe a song. We ended up with sandwiches, carrots, peppers, cherry tomatoes, crisps, juice and cake. We were pretty chuffed with the turnout and even though it is a church initiative no-one mentions coming to church or Sunday school. The idea is really just to get parents and children together with others and socialise, play and eat together. It was busy but fun! In the evening I went out to craft with friends. Tomorrow I have a crop and still have to decide what to take with me.

totall
But enough waffle it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week we're giving you a really easy challenge. It's "Anything Goes" and we're sponsored by Joanna Sheen. Do you like Promarkers? Well you could get the lovely new Limited Edition Winter colours if you win. They are lovely. I couldn't resist them!!

I used :-
Image :- Sugar Nellies.
DP :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Big Brother :- Hero Arts - Typewriter Letters.

I used the lovely sketch from theSugar Bowl so I'm entering that challenge.

Thanks for looking and I'll try to be a better blogger next week. I've missed not having enough time to catch up with my favourite blogs this week. Not to mention that I haven't had time to craft!

Catch you all later.

Kat xx

What's in the boxes Teddy?

Looks like he's got some lovely presents, or is he giving them to other people. There's something exciting about a parcel wrapped up in nice paper and tied up with a lovely ribbon and bow isn't there? I still love these James Bear images even though LOTV have produced lots of new Christmas images since James first appeared. I got some of LOTV's lovely new Kraft Christmas paper and I thought they would be perfect with some of the James Bear images.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV topper.
DP :- LOTV.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Glamour Dust, Nesties, seam binding and Sakura glitter gel pen.

Not sure if there are any challenges for this card but if there are I'll add them tomorrow. When I come home from work tonight I'll only just have time to get changed and have a quick tea before I go out to my WRI quiz and I probably won't be home very early.

Thanks for looking and isn't it strange how quickly this year has gone. October already! I always think we're really on the slippy slope when the month has two digits and here we are at the tenth month already! Is it just me? Am I getting old or does anyone else think this year has passed a bit quickly?
