Totally Gorjuss 245 - Butterflies.

Morning everyone, hope you're all having a lovely weeked. I'm a bit shattered as my daughter, 2 grandchildren and 2 Labradors have been visiting us since Wednesday. Luckily I had the day off on Thursday but we've been out and about a lot and then I had to work yesterday afternoon and again this morning!

This week at Totally Gorjuss we'd like to see butterflies on your card. Now how easy is that? I love adding butterflies to my cards. I just hope my card isn't too like the card on the Penny Black die packaging! I was inspired by it by I added different flowers and it didn't have butterflies.

I used :-
Die :- Penny Black.
DP and butterflies :- Stampin' Up!
Flowers :- EK Success punch.
Pearls & gems :- Hobby House.

I hope you can join us this week. It would be nice to see you over there

Have a lovely weekend everyone and I'll catch up later after work.

Oops I forgot to show you these..........!!

I've been so busy this week I forgot to show you the other Halloween card and the boxes of Halloween sweeties I made for Poppy and Oliver!

Images :- all from Penny Black.
Boxes :- Cricut - Bags, Tags, Boxes and More.
Ribbon in orange and black.
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Washi Tape :- Stampin' Up!
Colouring :- Promarkers.

I don't know if they liked the cards and boxes but I'm pretty sure they liked the choccies!

I'm hoping that this new mobile broadband is going to be a success. So far it's working pretty well, sometimes even better than my previous supplier. I've got a couple of other cards to show you when I've got a minute to blog them.

Thanks for looking and I'd love to hear from you if you've got a minute to spare.

Totally Gorjuss Challenge 207 - Spooky.

Sorry no time to chat but this is my card for this week's challenge at Totally Gorjuss. It's taken all day to achieve this so since it's very late on Friday evening I'm just going to add the pic and come back on Saturday afternoon to add the details!

Thanks for looking and see you all later I hope!

Shhhh.... don't tell anyone!

I've sneaked away from my housework for a few minutes to write this post. I've been wondering what image I could use to enter the challenge at Less is More. I thought of Penny Black and House Mouse straight away. So I decided on this image from Penny Black that always makes me laugh. If you've ever had anything to do with sheep, as I have, it would definitely make you laugh too.

I used :-
Image :- Woolly Dames from Penny Black.
Sentiment :- Penny Black clear set.
Colouring :- Promarkers.

I'd also like to enter the challenge at Penny Black which is anything goes.

Well I'm off to finish my housework and have my lunch before I have to go to work.

Thanks for looking and see you later.

Totally Gorjuss 182 - Anyhing Goes with Swirls.

Good morning everyone, I hope you're all fine this Bank Holiday weekend.  It's been very windy and cold this week, even on sunny days it's been very cold. So I hope it starts to get a bit warmer now.

But it's Saturday so it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week it is "Anything goes with swirls." So you could emboss your swirls like I did, or stamp them or use some of the lovely die cut swirls that are around. We're sponsored by J&C Creations so don't forget to pop over there for a browse.

Here's what I made :-

:

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Stampin' Write Markers.
DP :- LOTV.
Embossing Folder :- Cuttlebug Divine Swirls.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Die-namics fishtail flags die, Glamour Dust.

I love the watercolour effect. It comes solely from the stamp. All I did was colour it with 2 shades of pink and 2 shades of green. No watercolouring involved.

Hope you likey.

Challenges :-
Everybody Art :- Pearls.
Simon :- Happy Mail - a just because card.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up later after work.

If you've got time to leave me a comment I'd love to hear what you think.

Do you like Poppies?

I do. I think they're among my favourite flowers. I know that Brenda loves Poppies too so I made this card to celebrate her blogaversary. Hope she likes it!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black Poppies.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Embossing folders :- Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Stampin' Up! Honeycomb.
Twine :- Ribbon Girl.
Pearls :- Hobby House.

I would have added black Stickles to the centre of the Poppies but I've lost them! I've searched everywhere but they've vanished. So I coloured the centres with black Promarker, then added some Glamour Dust and then more black Promarker. I wonder if the reason I've lost my black Stickles is because my table is a bit of a tip or if I've accidentally dropped them in my rubbish bag which has been binned! Suppose I'd best just buy a new bottle.

I used the lovely sketch from Penny Black so I'm entering their challenge. I'm also entering the challenge at Crafty Creations which is flowers or fairies.

Oops I've just noticed the time! I think I'd best go and do my ironing now.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

Simply Poppies.

Hi everyone. Well I'm feeling quite pleased today as I managed to achieve a couple of things yesterday lol! At my crop I picked up the stitches round a v-neck slipover and finished the neck and then picked up stitches round one armhole and knitted a couple of rows. I've had this ready to finish for weeks now but the two things I hate doing are picking up stitches to do a neck and sewing up knitting so I've kept finding other things to do! I need the slipover in 2 weeks so I'd best get it finished. It's for a WRI show and I'm bad for being at the last minute so if I get it finished soon I'll be doing well!

Then in the evening after visiting my favourite blogs and catching up on what challenges are around I made a quick card. This is a similar idea to yesterday's DT card and was very quick to make. Regular readers may notice that this is one of my favourite images.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black Poppies cut out with Nesties.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Pearls from stash.

Challenges :-
Freshly Made Sketches :- Sketch.
Cute Card Thursday :- Simplify.
Crafty Cardmakers :- Blooming Images.

This afternoon I'm going to attempt to make a cushion, also for the show. This is one of 6 items for our co-operative table. I have no idea what possessed me to offer to make a cushion. I've never made a cushion in my life! I bought a pattern and I've cut it out. I had to go and buy some tartan to put round the edge so that's my excuse for not having any more done! I have a few other things to get done so I might show them on here when they're finished.................if they're fit to be seen that is!

Anyway thanks for looking and I love to read your comments. Means I'm not talking to myself if you tell me what you think lol! It also means I can visit you and see your lovely work.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend.

You know what they say about checking first.........!

Some of us never learn do we?

Before :-

After. Spot the difference?

Yes you guessed I stuck it on upside down. Never learn do I? The last time my card could have opened from the left but this one was completely upside down. So nothing else to do but convert my card to an easel  card. No wonder it sometimes takes ages to make a card. I had to cut out another snowflake, well after I figured out which die I had used in the first place since I found the first one in a tub of snowflakes I'd cut out ready to use.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment and candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
DP :- K&Co.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Snowflakes :- Marianne Designs.
Glamour Dust.

Challenges :-
Penny Black :-Cute Christmas.
Penny Black and More at Allsorts :- Any Die Will Do.
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge :- For a man or boy.
Pink Elephant :- Punches/dies.
Christmas Challenges with sketches :- Sketch plus add stitching.
Cards for Men :- Anything Goes.
Crafty Cardmakers :- More than one punch &/or diecut. Snowflake die, Whimsy corner die, nesties, reverse corner punch.
Stampin' for the Weekend :- All stitched up.

Thanks for looking and I'd best check up the last of this weeks entries at Totally Gorjuss since I've been out two nights in a row.

See you tomorrow with my latest DT card.

Witches and Broomsticks.......!!

Hi everyone, as you can guess this post is to show you my Halloween makes. I managed to get them made yesterday as I really needed to post them today. Then I had to get a passport photo done. I'd rather go to the dentist than have a photo taken but needs must!!

This is what I made for Poppy, managing to use her favourite colour, green. I can take absolutely no credit for the treat bag as my friend showed me how to make it. She also stamped me a couple of witches as I thought Poppy might like a witch. Unfortunately I don't know what the make of the stamp is so if anyone knows.....?

DP :- MME.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Image :- Magnolia (card), ? (treat bag)
Colouring :- Distress Markers - bag, Promarkers - card.
Glitter markers on card :- Spica glitter gel pen.
Candi, Stampendous aged black embossing enamel.

And this is Oliver's bag and card.

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- Penny Black.
DP, Promarkers, embossing enamel and Candi as above.

I sent Catriona a text to say that I'd posted the parcel and if the children didn't like the sweeties she might have to eat them. She says I've got her wrong but I know what a sweet tooth she has, like me! The little spider sweeties are just chocolate but the eyeballs and brains have popping candy in them!

Well I'm off to try to do some catching up now. So much for my day off. I've achieved nothing apart from making a pot of soup and some stew. And the photos!!! I'm off out to the Guild in an hour to hear about a trip to China. Should be interesting.

Yesterday we were very lucky to have a guest preacher at my church. The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland was preaching as part of the celebrations of 1,000 years of churches in our parish. We were joined by members and clergy from the Congregational and Scottish Episcopal churches in the parish. Afterward we had a buffet in the church hall and the opportunity to have a chat. There was also a celebratory cake donated by a local baker. I think people will still be talking about this tonight. The Moderator is a very enthusiastic and charismatic man and I think everyone was impressed by him.

Thanks for looking and we're not usually late at the Guild so I might manage to do some more catching up.

Oops now it's Tuesday evening and I forgot to add the challenges I was going to enter! I've already had to change my mind about one as it's finished already.

Penny Black :- Sketch. Second card.
Creative Inspirations :- Happy Halloween. First card.
Crafty Creations :- Halloween Spooks. Second card
Cute Card Thursday :- Something Scary. First card.
Charisma :- Don't be square. First treat bag.
Totally Papercrafts :- Spooky Halloween. First treat bag.
Cupcake :- Witches or Pumpkins. First card.
Created with Love :- Happy Halloween. Treat bags.

Hope I've got this ok now!

I heard from Catriona this morning and the parcel has arrived and she's trying to stop Oliver from eating everything! He loves chocolate and he thinks the popping candy sweets are funny lol.

Totally Gorjuss 154 - Bling it On.

Good morning everyone, can't believe I haven't posted since last Saturday! I haven't been totally idle but not anything finished to show you.

But I have got a card for this week's challenge at Totally Gorjuss at least. Hope Mr Blogger allows me to schedule this post. I keep getting a message saying an error occurred while trying to save or publish the post. This has been happening for weeks now but luckily sometimes I'm allowed to publish my post!

Our challenge this week is "Bling it on" so that's not difficult is it? I know we all love our gems and glitter and shiny things so you should easily be able to join us. We're sponsored by Heather's Hobbie Haven this week so don't forget to pop over and see what she has to tempt you.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment :- LOTV.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Embossing folder :- Cuttlebug.
Snowflakes :- Martha Stewart punches.
Star :- Memory Box.
Gems :- Hobby House.
Candi, ribbon and Glamour Dust.

I'd like to enter the following challenges :-
Everybody Art :- Glimmer.
ABC Christmas :- Up to you.
Cute Card Thursday :- Got Glitter.
Hotshot Crafts :- Bling.
Stampalot challenge :-Punch Away.
Penny Black and More at Allsorts :- Animal Magic.

I've been careful to only enter 6 challenges as that is the maximum number for the Stampalot challenge! I'm not really one for entering lots and lots of challenges with one card but I haven't entered much recently.

I hope Mr Blogger is kind enough to post this for me as I won't have a chance to check till later as I'm going to an open day at my local craft shop after work. I'm looking forward to seeing what new goodies they have to tempt us. I've not had a chance to go there recently and it's always nice to see things in real life instead of just online.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up later.

Totally Gorjuss 151 - Punch and Die.

Hi everyone, is it really a week since last Saturday? I suppose it must be since it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week our theme is "punch and die." How easy is that? All you need to do is use a punch or a die or maybe even both. We're sponsored by Craftwork Cards and I don't know about you but I love their products. My most used are Candi and die cut messages. Here's what I made this week. Yes funny you should mention it but it's another Christmas card!

I used :-
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
DP :- LOTV.
Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflake :- Spellbinders Create a Flake Four.
Glamour Dust, Ribbon.

I had a bit of bother cutting out the largest snowflake in this set but I think I've got it sussed now! I'm just thinking now that it would have shown up better against a plain colour. Too late now though!

Hope you can join us this week.

Thanks for looking and don't forget to check out what my talented teamies have made to inspire you.

Catch you all later.

Rudolph the red nosed......

reindeer???? Maybe not but this image made me think of that song lol!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
DP :- LOTV.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart punch.
Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Glamour Dust.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Allsorts :- Inspired by a song.
Sketch Saturday :- Sketch.
Cards for Men :- Animal Magic.

As usual I've not got as much done today as I would have liked. One of the girls at work said look at this cook book. It was Best magazine with a free Cupcake book for 92p. I bought it and gave her the magazine. I don't have any patience with these magazines but the cookbook was worth the 92p! Needless to say it's the start of a series of heaven knows how many parts. Next is Favourite Cakes followed by Biscuits & Brownies, then Grandma's Puddings and so on....... Would be a lot cheaper to buy one or two decent cookery books. I told the same colleague the same when she said she was buying the learn to crochet series. It's cost her a fortune and she's done hardly any of the squares!

Must go now, it feels like time for a coffee. Think I've still got some cheese scones. I took some to work and everybody loved them so I was quite chuffed. I made red velvet cupcakes from my cheapie book today. They don't look very red but they tasted ok lol!

Thanks for looking and I'm hoping to manage to make some more Christmas cards tomorrow. I've got quite a few now. Must count them and probably give myself a fright about how many more I still need to make!

Good morning everyone, doesn't time pass really quickly. Not only is it Saturday again but it's time for another crop. I can't believe it's 4 weeks since the last one.

This week at Totally Gorjuss our challenge is pink and green. Isn't that a lovely colour combo? We're sponsored by Crafter's Companion this week and they've got lots of lovely new goodies! So what are you waiting for, you could win a voucher to spend in their online store.

I used my favourite snowman.

Circle heart Nestie, Martha Stewart snowflake punch, gem, Distress Ink and Glamour Dust.

I'm entering the following challenges :-

Totally Gorjuss 147 - Sketch.

I'm feeling quite happy today as my colleague will be back to work next week and I have a holiday on Monday. It's been a very long two weeks and I'll be glad to get back to normal and have my precious day off again on Thursday.

As it's the first Saturday in September (already!) we have a sketch for you this week at Totally Gorjuss and the ever generous Joanna Sheen is sponsoring us again.

Here's the sketch.

And here's my take on it.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
DP :- LOTV.
Sentiment and Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Glamour Dust, Stickles, Martha Stewart punch, Nesties and gems.

Challenges for this card :-
Everybody Art :- Anything Goes.
Simon Says Stamp :- Anything Goes.

This working full time has played havoc with my crafting time but there is light at the end of the tunnel. My colleague is back next week and I have a local holiday on Monday. And my usual day off on Thursday. Great. But I'll really need all my time as the week after we're babysitting for 4 days so no chance of crafting then. I could take some images to colour but I don't fancy Poppy and Oliver getting their hands on my Promarkers!

Thanks for looking and I'll try to catch up later today.

Totally Gorjuss - 143 - Sketch.

Good morning everyone. Saturday again already, but even worse we're into August already. Can't believe how quickly this year is passing. But there's nothing we can do about it so all we can do is keep on enjoying our crafting!

As it's the first Saturday of the month we have a sketch challenge for you at Totally Gorjuss and as usual we're sponsored by the lovely Joanna Sheen with £10 to spend at her online store.

Here's Net's sketch.

And here's my take on it.

Colouring :- Promarkers.

Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day here in Aberdeenshire so fingers crossed for some dry weather at the weekend. I don't want to be too ambitious and hope for sun, just dry would be nice!

Have you all been watching the Olympics? I haven't seen much but even I have noticed that team GB has won a few medals. Congrats to them all especially the Scottish athletes. Has anyone noticed that Royal Mail are bringing out a mini sheet of stamps every time a member of team GB wins a gold medal? Well we have got the first two sets in our little post office. Not sure why because when I checked the system told me that the nearest post offices to be stocking these stamps were both in Aberdeen!

I've not seen much tv as I've been making jam would you believe?! On Thursday I made lime curd and then blueberry jam. On Friday morning I made pineapple jam. Yum, I love pineapple jam on scones. Now I need to make scones!! We have a little sales table after church this Sunday so I'm going to take some to that. I've got lemons for lemon curd but I need to buy some more butter before I can make it.

Thanks for looking and I'll be along to see you this afternoon after work.

Tiptoe through the......

tulips! As you all know I love Penny Black images and I couldn't resist this lovely cat among the tulips. It's only taken me two weeks to get a card made for the Penny Black challenge which is "Summertime." Now I can do the blog hop too. Well tonight as I'm at work all day. I love Mondays. Not!

I'm also entering these challenges :-

Thanks for looking and I'm looking forward to reading what you think of this card. I'll try to enter the challenges before I go to work. Monday's always a long day and by the time I get home and walk the dogs and have my tea I'll probably forget.

Sunday, 22 July 2012

It rained.....!!

Yes needless to say it rained yesterday afternoon not long before the Strawberry Fayre was due to start. Bit of a shock as I don't think rain was forecast. If it had rained in the morning at least they could have switched to the church hall. But we either crammed into the minister's garage or sheltered under golf umbrellas. And for a bonus I bought some of the scones so that'll save me making some to go with my strawberry jam.

I didn't achieve much last week but here's a card I made at the crop last week.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- oops can't remember!
Tag :- Spellbinders.
Snowflakes :- Martha Stewart punch.
Card Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Embossing :- Cuttlebug folder.
Poinsettia, Glamour Dust and ribbon.

I'm entering these challenges :-
Cards for Men :- Christmas in July.
Paperplay :- Christmas in July.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sunday, 15 July 2012

Can't believe I've never used this stamp before!!

Isn't that awful? Why have I never inked this cute image before? Probably because I've got lots of Christmas images. Not a good excuse though but hey better late than never.

I made a couple of cards at the crop yesterday and did a lot of glittering and preparing other images for some more Christmas cards. I had a good afternoon with lots of chat and I managed to keep busy the whole afternoon. Sometimes I take too much stuff but not the right stuff and don't have enough to do. This time I got it fairly right. I even had time to have a browse round the shop. Didn't buy too much as I may be going to check out a new craft shop on Thursday if my friend's up to it. She had a minor op just over 2 weeks ago and it's taking longer to get over it than she thought.

So here's one of my cards from the crop.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
DP :- First Edition.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Pearls, gems, Glamour Dust and ribbon.

I'm entering these challenges :-
Crafty Hazelnut :- Twinkle, twinkle little star.
Christmas Stampin All year Long :- Not inked yet.

I've not achieved much today except for doing this post, doing my DT commenting and nipping round my favourite blogs. And the washing and ironing of course. And did I mention the jam? I decided to make strawberry jam this afternoon. I've never made strawberry jam before so I didn't know if it would work or not!! Well I had to have a scone and jam a wee while ago, just to check if it was ok. Hubby said it was fine so that was a relief as his mother was a great cook, baker and of course made jam and chutney. So I'm quite pleased with it. The best of it is I rarely eat strawberry jam but this stuff is quite yummy. Success lol!

I'm off to put an insert in a Get Well card. My Sister-in-law phoned last night to tell me my 95 year old Auntie had had a heart attack and was in hospital. She's not too bad and will probably get out to the local cottage hospital in a day or two. I feel bad about not visiting her but it's a long journey. If she was really ill I wouldn't think twice about going to see her. My brother and sister-in-law live very near her so they're getting all the running around to do. My brother also sometimes takes my Uncle to visit as driving into the centre of Glasgow is a bit much for a 92 year old. Hope my Uncle didn't miss the end of the Scottish Open when he went to visit his Sister!

I'll go and add that insert now and post it to her at work tomorrow. Catch you all tomorrow.

Thanks for looking and if you have time to let me know what you think I'd be really pleased.
