Congratulations.

Good morning everyone....at least I hope this has appeared at 9am on Sunday morning if Mr Blogger is behaving. I am away from home this weekend visiting my daughter, son-in-law and lovely grandchildren.

Today is the second challenge over at Just Cute Bears and today we would like you to make a card with the theme "congratulations." I have made a baby congratulations card using my favourite colour...lilac! I love this Nana's Nursery DCWV DP. It comes in lovely shades of turquoise and lilac with soft green and pale peach.

I coloured this sweet Forever Friends image with Promarkers and matted on to pearlescent lilac the same as the base card. I used Milled Lavender Distress Ink round the image and edged with Dusty Concord. I finished with some Prima flowers and added card candy from Craftwork Cards which I coloured with Promarker to match the image.

I hope you like our 2nd challenge and can find time to enter. If you can find time too it is worth checking out my very talented teamies' blogs, they have made some beautiful cards this week and they would love to read your comments.

This is the prize this week from Liz at Cuddly Buddly. Liz has some lovely images both digi and rubber as well as lots of other craft supplies so it is well worth checking out her online shop.

I'm looking forward to visiting your blogs this week to see what lovely projects you have made. I've had a lovely time checking all your entries this week. Don't forget entries have to be in by 10pm (GMT) on Saturday 6th February.

Gorjuss Paper Piecing.

It's Saturday again and time for another Totally Gorjuss challenge. This week we would like you to do some paper piecing. We are being sponsored this week by the lovely Tracey at Dies to Die For. A big thank you to Tracey. I'd recommend popping over there to have a look. You'll find some lovely goodies there!

I coloured the lovely Bumble Bee with Promarkers which I also used to edge the circle, the flowers and colour the card candy. I paper pieced her dress with the same lovely Nana's Nursery DP from DCWV as the background. I also paper pieced her wings and coloured them with a Sakura clear glitter gel pen. I added some matching flat back pearls to the image and the sentiment and an iriciscent heart to her hair. I love this thick, glittery DP it is all gorgeous, lovely patterns and colours.

I used the lovely sketch from Papertake Weekly. This is a great sketch, nice and simple but you can add embellishments to make it as simple or as fancy as you like.

I'm hoping Mr Blogger behaves nicely and posts this for me tomorrow morning. I am off to visit my daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren in Crieff tomorrow. If I'm good I might manage to pay a visit to a very nice craft shop in Perth lol! Not sure if I should though. I nipped over to Bunny Zoe's to look at ....ok buy the lovely stamp I saw on Angela's card (and lots of other people's too)......Beary Big Hugs from Belles and Whistles. Of course I couldn't leave it at that could I? Oh no I had to buy other things too. No nobody made me....I'm my own worst enemy.

On the plus side I saved some money because I was supposed to be going to a candle party tonight but the weather has turned nasty here again so I thought it was safer to stay at home. I'm a bit disappointed because I was looking forward to it, I don't get out much! Not a huge amount of snow but very slippy. The main road near here was at a standstill this morning. My daughter went to work early this morning but turned after about 2 miles as it was so dangerous. I think she was right this time because people were taking hours to get to Aberdeen instead of about half an hour. She went in later and worked different hours instead. Luckily she can stay there as she is early tomorrow. If she can't get home tomorrow afternoon and my son can't come out to dogsit overnight we might have to take the dogs with us!!!

I'm going to schedule this now and hope for the best. Enjoy your weekend whatever you're doing.

Hearts and flowers!

At last after faffing about all day I've managed to finish a card and get it posted. It's only a very quick card though. Just Magnolia have a nice simple sketch this week which I really enjoyed using. This is one of my favourite Tilda images and I coloured her with Promarkers as usual. I also coloured the card candy from Craftwork Cards to match and edged the image before matting it on the same card as the base card. The DP I used is from paper adventures, the flowers and flat-backed pearls are from Prima and the ribbon and heart shaped jewels are from my stash.

I'v added another picture to show that the jewels are heart shaped - I need hearts and flowers for one of the challenges I'm entering!

I hope to enter the following challenges as well as Just Magnolia:-
Passion for Promarkers :- Pastel green and blossom.
A Spoon Full of Sugar :- Freestyle - what you like.
Crafty Creations :- Celebrations.
Allsorts :- Hearts and flowers.
Cute Card Thursday :- Blooming Gorgeous.

I think I'll go and enter these challenges and get back to my DT card for Totally Gorjuss. I just need to get it finished so that I can post it on the DT blog and sort out a scheduled post for Saturday morning as I am going to a candle party tomorrow and I won't have time to do anything between getting home from work and going out.

Soon be the weekend girls only one more day to go lol!

Sugar Bowl 27.

Hi girls, here I am late as usual with my entry for the Sugar Bowl challenge. Not as late as I have been but not very early either!

This is a lovely sketch from Kathy and I really enjoyed using it. I coloured this sweet manga girl with Promarkers. The added option for this challenge is distressing so I distressed all the edges with my scissors and then edged them with antique linen Distress Ink. I added some lovely Prima flat back pearls to match and a Prima flower and that is it...finished. I actually spent more time trying to find plain card to match the DP. Nightmare......every card I looked at was either too green or too blue. The one I eventually chose still didn't seem right but now that the card is finished I'm wondering what all the fuss was about lol!!

I haven't had much to show this week but I have got a DT card made and posted and a scheduled post written (please be good Mr Blogger!) for Sunday morning at 9am which is when you will find out what the next challenge is at Just Cute Bears. Tomorrow I will organise my DT card for Totally Gorjuss and then my time is my own to maybe get a couple of challenges done.

I've already been out one night this week and I'm going out on Friday as well and then off to my daughter's in Crieff on Saturday and Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing her and her husband and the kids again. It's been a few weeks since we saw them. We have got 2 toyboxes to take with us. My dad made them for my kids so hubby has been painting them for Poppy and Oliver. Catriona also wanted a bouncing Tigger that was hers and a Winnie the Pooh cross stitch that I made for her. We also found a picture of Catriona lying in one of the toyboxes when she was about Poppy's age and another one out in the garden climbing into a washing basket. And she's always liked cars because we found a piccie of her in Iain's pedal car!

I'm off to enter that challenge and check out the entries for Totally Gorjuss and Just Cute Bears. The number of entries for both of these challenges has been really encouraging but it does take a wee while to look at everyone's entries and leave a comment. I like to try to comment as much as I can because I know it feels a bit discouraging if you enter a challenge and no-one acknowledges your work.

I'm really looking forward to my day off tomorrow and I'm not going to make the mistake of going anywhere. I'm really going to make the most of my time off to get some crafting done.

Mojo Monday 122.

I've just made this quick card for the Mojo Monday challenge. It's not my usual style at all but it was very quick and I've been thinking about making some cards this size for the Marie Curie appeal.

I used Basic Grey June Bug DP. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards as is the colour me oval which I coloured with Promarkers. I layered the image on a scalloped oval and popped it up on foam pads for some dimension. I finished off with a layered flower put together with spotty brad.

That's it really, nothing else to say about it. Now I am going to be early doing my ironing for a change. To think I used to do my ironing on a Sunday afternoon before I discovered blogging. But hey I'm not complaining. If I get it done quickly I might be able to comment on some of the entries at Totally Gorjuss and Just Cute Bears.

All this posting today will make up for the fact that tomorrow I will only have time to try to comment on my DT challenges and favourite blogs. Tomorrow evening is the Guild and though we are never late it will still be too late to do anything. By the time I get home from work I just have time to have my tea and get ready to go and pick up my neighbour.

Take care everyone and if you have time do pop over to one of these challenges and check it out. You never know one of them might fit in with a challenge you are already doing.

2nd Post Today.

Here I am again girls with another card. Mr Blogger was very good and my scheduled post for the Just Cute Bears challenge appeared at the right time. That's 2 days in a row as yesterday's post for Totally Gorjuss appeared at the right time too.

This afternoon I have been making a card for a few challenges. I think I might make a couple of cards and then get on with my DT cards so that I've got them done in plenty of time!

I followed this nice simple sketch from The Pink Elephant challenge and ended up with a Christmas card! I stamped the bell and the holly on white card and then stamped them again on gold and white respectively and the clapper on red. I won these stamps ages ago when Kath had some blog candy and at last I've managed to use them. I decoupaged the bell, the clapper and the holly. Please don't ask why I decoupaged the holly, it nearly drove me loopy. Ever tried to cut out something as small and awkward as this? Believe me don't even go there lol!!

I also used Nesties, a Martha Stewart punch, Promarkers, the Cuttlebug snowflakes embossing folder and Stickles. The DP is Cosmo Cricket - Jolly by Golly and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and it is edged with a gold inkpad.

I'm going to enter the following challenges:-

Pollycraft :- Red and white.
Creative Card Crew :- Punch it.
Simon Says Stamp :- Punch it.
ABC Christmas challenge :- B for bells plus glitter.
Fussy and Fancy :- Winter - Christmas ok?
Daring Cardmakers :- What's the point?

I might be pushing my luck with the Daring Cardmakers challenge but the holly has points and if you like so do some of the snowflakes! I've kept the card quite simple as it is quite a small card and I think it would be a bit crowded if I had added anything else to it.

And that's it really, nothing else I can say about it really. I'm off to see if I can do anything else before I "need" to do my ironing.

Just Cute Bears #1 One for the Girls.

Here we are then girls our first challenge at Just Cute Bears. And it's a great challenge, this week we would like you to make "One for the Girls." How easy is that? I'm sure lots of you have teddy bear stamps of some kind. It would be really nice if you could manage to join in and support us in our first challenge.

This week we are being sponsored by the very talented Kim MacFarlane of Cuddly Buddly Crafts. I'm sure many of you will know about Cuddly Buddly Crafts. They sell rubber stamps, digi images and papers, and lots and lots of other crafting goodies as well.

Here is what Kim is offering for the lucky winner this week. Wish I could enter, I would love this stamp lol!
Here is the card I made for the challenge. I coloured this lovely Popcorn Bear image with Promarkers. I love Popcorn, he is so sweet. Believe it or not this is the first Popcorn Bear I have ever coloured. I have lots of different bears but I think he looks quite special! In honour of our first challenge I've used some of my favourite MME Laundry Line DP. This paper is so gorgeous, it is thick and glittery and beautiful colours. I have layered it on some lovely blue "Gemstones" pearlescent paper. I did a little faux stitching and finished off with some white Prima flowers edged with pink Promarker and card candy from Craftwork Cards coloured with blue Promarker to match.

You can find links in my sidebar for each of my talented teamies so please pop over to their blogs and see their beautiful work. We would all really appreciate it if you have a minute to tell us what you think of our work and the challenge.

So there it is girls a nice easy challenge to start. I'm sure most people have at least one teddy stamp or digi image. I can't wait to see what you make, I know there are a lot of very talented crafters out there. Almost forgot...all entries to be in by 10pm (GMT) on Saturday 30th January.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Kat xx

Totally Gorjuss 14 - Dimension.

Well girls I can hardly believe that this is week 14 at Totally Gorjuss already! Time seems to be flying past very quickly. I suppose time flies when you are enjoying yourself. As usual we have a prize for the lucky random winner and this week we are being sponsored by Die Cut Dreams.

This week we are looking for dimension in your work. I have decoupaged the Gorjuss Girl's dress with sticky pads. Wish I could have got a better photo! I also popped up the whole image on sticky pads too. You might also agree that there is dimension to the flower and the small jewel flowers. I have to hold my hands up and admit that I have used the same MME DP as the previous 2 cards. I promise to use different DP for my next card lol!

I think I may have overdone the pink but I wanted to do a "pretty pink" card for Papertake Weekly. I also wanted to make a pink card because Jacqui at Simply Create at Alford in Aberdeenshire would like people to make a pink card and email a photo of it to her and then send it to her. She hopes to show them on her blog and give them to CLAN in Aberdeen for fundraising. Clan is a local charity in Aberdeen who help cancer sufferers and their families. Jacqui is giving away blog candy to the winner of this challenge. So please if anyone feels they would like to join in please follow the link to Jacqui's blog and see what she has to say about the pink card challenge. It ends 1st February.
Isn't this a lovely sketch? Cupcake Craft challenge always have great challenges and I try to enter there as often as I can. Today I have used new pearlised pink paper from my gorgeous new "Gemstones" 12x12 pad. I had a small pad before but this big pad is even better. Some of my MME DP is new and the rest is from my stash. I finished off a white Prima flower with card candy from Craftwork Cards, coloured with Promarker to match the Gorjuss Girl.

This is a really bad photo in which I have tried to show the decoupaged dress!!!
Hopefully this post will appear at 8am on Saturday. I've scheduled it and I'm trusting Mr Blogger to post it for me as I'll be going to work.
Enjoy your weekend everyone and I'm looking forward to seeing your entries at Totally Gorjuss this week.

Lovely Surprise.

I just wanted to tell you all about the lovely surprise I got today. I was just getting ready to go to work when the postie rang the bell. He gave me a very fat looking padded envelope. Well of course in spite of the fact that I was trying to make the tea before I left I had to have a look inside.

You wouldn't believe what lovely goodies I found inside. There was a gorgeous handmade wallet card absolutely stuffed full of stamped images - Popcorn Bear, fairies, Sarah Kay designs.....so many I haven't even had time to go through them all. I am going to be so busy colouring and making cards. Also embellishements and decoupage and even Pot Pourri flowers. All this has been sent to me by Vicky at Kip's cards. I can't believe how generous Vicky has been! I saw the wallet card on her blog yesterday and she said she had posted it to someone and she hoped they liked the contents. I never even thought that it would be me. I'm so chuffed. All I can say is thank you so much Vicky you are so generous and kind. If you ever see anything on my blog that I can share with you I would be more than happy.

I have been making my DT card for Totally Gorjuss this evening and now I have to make one for the first ever challenge at Just Cute Bears. All I am going to say is look out for someone familiar in my post on Sunday LOL!!

Well here I am late as usual again. Hope I don't sleep in tomorrow. It's not been a good week. I slept in last Saturday and didn't have time to wash my hair before work. Then I slept in on Monday - luckily not too long. On Wednesday the water pressure was too low for a shower in the morning and this morning I slept in for over an hour!! In the morning I always think I'm going to be better but at night I'm too busy blogging or crafting.

Enjoy your weekend and see you all tomorrow.

Last Minute Again.

Well all I can say is that it's a good thing I didn't make a New Year's resolution not to enter challenges at the last minute cos here I am again trying to enter the Just Magnolia challenge and it's almost the deadline. Again!! I've had a whole day off and I am ashamed to say I only started making this card this evening and not early evening at that.

I coloured the lovely Tilda in heart dress with Promarkers and her wings with a Sakura clear, glitter gel pen. I used the same gorgeous MME DP that I used yesterday. I just love it. I love the colours and the patterns it is just yummy paper and now I have bought some more I can use it freely. I added some Prima flowers and brads from my stash. The flowers are edged with Promarker. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I also added faux stitching with an American Crafts Precision pen. The sketch I used is a really nice one from Sketch Saturday.

I can probably enter some other challenges but I'll need to think about that later.

I think I have enough layers to enter the Spoon Full of Sugar challenge and I think it is girly enough for the Passion for Promarkers challenge!

In spite of the fact that I'm sure I have plenty of Teddy stamps I decided that I needed some Popcorn the Bear stamps from Joanna Sheen for the new challenge atJust Cute Bears. I ordered some last night but of course I had to go off out this morning to see if I could get one locally. I went into a local shop that makes celebration cakes and sells craft goods. And met a friend! So I found a couple of things, then we went for lunch and then off to another craft shop that was having a sale. So that was really nice. We had a nice lunch and a chat and that was good. And I was only out of the house for just over 2 hours! Unfortunately I got caught up with other things after that and only started crafting well into the evening. I did catch up with commenting on the entries for Totally Gorjuss. I think it's important to comment as much as I can because it can be quite discouraging to enter challenges and find that no-one from the DT comments on your work. It is time consuming but when someone has gone to the bother of entering it is nice to acknowledge it.

I need to go and check out the price of some flower nesties! See you tomorrow.

Relaxed Card!

Good evening girls, I really thought I wasn't going to be able to post this card. It didn't matter what I tried I just couldn't get Mr Blogger to upload these piccies. I couldn't even get a hold of them in spite of the fact I had just uploaded them from my camera to my laptop. Never mind all is well now....I hope.

I've followed the lovely sketch from Stampin' for the Weekend. I have also made the card for Teddy Stampers who want us to use 2 DPs, 1 ribbon and 3 brads or buttons.

I used some of my very favourite MME papers - Pretty Please. I have bought some of these papers more than once but then the other week they were selling a set of 2 packets on QVC so of course I bought some. Then imagine my surprise when I opened my subscription copy of Cardmaking and Papercrafts and there was a free packet of papers. 36 sheets of 6x6 plus 2 sheets of tags and motifs. So now I can be generous with it!!

The image is the lovely Bear from Hobby Art and the sentiment is part of the same set. One of my favourite bears lol! I coloured the image with Promarkers as usual and edged the image circle and the sentiment with one of the Promarkers. This is another piccie to show the bubbles which are covered with a Sakura clear glitter gel pen.

I think the bear looks as if she is enjoying her bubble bath! I added a piece of ribbon and 3 buttons to finish off the card. I didn't want to add any more embellishments as the paper is so pretty that I didn't want to cover it up.

I'm going to make some plans now for my DT cards for Saturday - Totally Gorjuss and my very first DT card for Just Cute Bears. I've really enjoyed being on the DT for Totally Gorjuss my teamies are so talented and generous with their comments. And of course I'm looking forward to working with my new teamies on Just Cute Bears who are also very talented. Sometimes I look at my work and wonder why I've been so lucky to be chosen for both of these DTs but I always just try to do my best.

For a change I am going to try to get to bed at a reasonable time. I always have good intentions and then end up being late every night. I think there may not be enough hours in the day lol!

See you tomorrow with another card....I hope.

What a Cutie!

I made this card using the Whiff of Joy challenge sketch. This was really lovely and simple to use and you could dress it up as much as you like. I have kept it fairly simple as it is a boy card.

The DP is just some I found in a drawer! I coloured this cute Whiff of Joy image with Promarkers. Then I added some ribbon and buttons. I finished it off with some card candy and a sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

Apart from the Whiff of Joy challenge I am also going to enter the following challenges:-

Stamp Something :- Blue and white.

Susie's Sassy Challenge :- For a boy with the added option of an animal.

Daring Cardmakers :- At least one hole - I may be pushing my luck here but there are holes in the buttons!

I think that's it and I'll just go and post this now. See what you think and hope you can find time to leave me a wee comment. Probably be back tomorrow with another card. I'm off to see what I can do about my DT cards.

Fast Card.

Hi girls I'd really like to thank everyone who congratulated me on my new DT position with the Just Cute Bears challenge. I'm really surprised to have been chosen but really, really chuffed and looking forward to working with Ali and the rest of the DT who are all very talented. Our first challenge will be on Sunday 24th and I'm really looking forward to the first challenge and hoping that lots of people will join in.

After finishing the dreaded ironing, checking my emails and favourite blogs I then faffed about for ages trying to decide what sketch to use for a few challenges. I think I'm still a bit overexcited about my new DT place lol!

I made this card very quickly in the end as I was running out of time! I'm going to enter the following challenges with it:-

Creative Card Crew :- Distressing.
Creative Inspirations Sunday Challenge :- Distressing.
Simon Says Stamp challenge :- Shabby chic, distressing.
A Spoon Full of Sugar :- 3DPs, 1 ribbon, 3 flowers and 3 buttons.
Allsorts :- Brown and pink.
Quixotic :- Judy's wonderful sketch.

I used:-

DP - Basic Grey
Image - Stampendous
Sentiment and card candy - Craftwork Cards.
Colouring - Whispers pens.
Flowers and ribbon from stash.
I should also say that I distressed the edges of the DPs and edged them and the sentiment with Distress Ink in walnut stain.

I think that's all I can say about this card. Feel free to leave me a comment then I know if I have made a complete mess or not LOL!!

Sympathy Card.

Hi girls, first of all I have some exciting news. I took part in a DT call today for a new challenge blog called Just Cute Bears and would you believe out of all the talented people who applied Ali chose me as one of her new DT. I'm so excited I can hardly type. I was so late posting my card for the DT call that it was in not long before the deadline this afternoon. Not because I didn't have it done just that for one reason or another I didn't get a photo in time to do it before today!! I'm really looking forward to the first challenge which will be next Sunday, 24th January. So put that on your calendars girls and I hope a lot of you will want to join us then. Everyone likes bears, don't they? You can use bears on your cards for anyone, male or female, old or young and for any occasion. So look out your beary images girls and get ready to take part next Sunday.

On to my card now! This evening I have made a couple of Sympathy cards. I'm just posting this one just now. The other one is different but it is proving difficult to photograph!! I'm quite pleased with this card which I made with a gorgeous new Hero Arts stamp. I've coloured the gorgeous flower with Promarkers in cool aqua and cocoa so it fits the Passion for Promarkers challenge. the flower is popped up on sticky pads for a bit of dimension though you wouldn't think it from my photo! The sentiment is also from Hero Arts - I love their cling stamps, they're so easy to use. I embossed a piece of card in my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder which is a bit of a favourite of mine. Then just a ribbon from my stash and some card candy from Craftwork Cards, which I coloured to match the flower. I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday.

The other card I made also uses the same colours but different Hero Arts stamps. I was inspired by a card that the supremely talented Kath made a while ago. Kath's work is fantastic and I never miss checking out her blog.

I'm off to calm down now. I think I will check out my new teamies blogs before I do my ironing. I suppose I will need to iron some clothes for tomorrow. Don't you just love Mondays? It's the only day I work a full day and it's also the busiest. I wouldn't mind if it was just the pensioners as most of them are lovely. It's the scroungers I find it difficult to deal with. The joys of working in the Post Office.

Kat xx

I Love "The Bear."

I've made this card for the DT call for a new challenge blog - Just Cute Bears. I don't think I will have much chance of joining the DT but hey there's nothing to lose. I love bears and this image from Hobby Art. I have lots of these stamps and they are great because you can use them for all sorts of occasions and of course everyone loves bears. I also have bears from Penny Black and Forever Friends and probably some others too. So as you can imagine it would be no hardship to make cards with bears lol!

I coloured the image with Promarkers. I had this card made yesterday but missed the chance to take a photo in daylight! I'm a bit disappointed with how the colours turned out. In reality the pink flowers are more like the colour of pink in the DP. The card candy is a stronger shade but still in the same family of pink as is the jewel brad.

I used :-

DP - K&Co, MME and the dark grey mats are DCWV latte.

Colouring - Promarkers

Card candy and sentiment - Craftwork Cards.

Nesties.

Apart from the Just Cute Bears DT call I am also entering:-

Cute Card Thursday :- Pink and grey.

Paperplay :- Furry friends.

Creative Inspirations Wednesday challenge :- New product - the bear stamp.

Charisma Cardz challenge :- Anything new -the bear stamp.

Crafty Cardmakers :-New - bear stamp.

What an idiot I forgot that I made the card using the sketch from Papertake Weekly. I love this sketch it was really easy to use. Papertake Weekly also have a DT call for a guest DT spot.

Keep your fingers crossed for me girls. I'm not that optimistic really because there are so many talented crafters and I'm sure lots of people will have answered this DT call. But nothing ventured and all that!!

I need to go and make some sympathy cards and at the other end of the spectrum finish off 2 baby cards for my friends and their son and his wife.

See you later. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. It is lovely and sunny here today and not even cold - after the frost lifted. What a change after the last few weeks. But....and there's always a but isn't there?....there is still snow lying here and there. Or as my mum used to say lying waiting for more. She alway was an optimist!!

Totally Gorjuss 13 - Monotone card.

This is my DT card for the Totally Gorjuss challenge. I hope some of you will want to join us this week. It is a nice easy challenge this week and I'm sure you could combine it with some other challenges! We would like you to make a "monotone" card this week ie shades of one colour. I have chosen my favourite colour - lilac. You could probably guess this from my blog name - lilackat lol!

I used the lovely sketch from Sketch and Stash which is nice and simple and great for a quick card. I used some neglected ribbon and some new Prima flat backed pearls. I think there is probably lavender in this card so I am going to enter it in the ECP challenge.

Materials used:-
DP - DCWV
Colouring - Promarkers.
Faux stitching with an American Crafts precision pen.
Punch - EK Success
Ribbon and jewels from stash.

It's quite a plain card so I hope you like it. Please join us at Totally Gorjuss this week if you have time. We have a prize every week and we love to come round your blogs and see what you have made.

I'm going to a crop after work and I still don't know what I am going to do so I'd best go off now and find something before it's too late. Enjoy your weekend.

Just Magnolia 39.

I don't think this is exactly my finest hour. I decided to try the Just Magnolia challenge which is paper pleating. I followed the tutorial which was very clear but maybe it would have been better if I had practised instead of just jumping straight in. I have used red mainly which fits the Daring Cardmakers challenge. I followed the sketch from Stamp Something which I think goes well with the image. I think the card is "girly" enough for the Cupcake challenge and it is a birthday card which fits the Pink Elephant challenge.

I used Promarkers to colour the image, edge the image, sentiment and flowers and colour the card candy to match. The sentiment and card candy is from Craftwork Cards and the flowers are Hero Arts. The DP is DCWV, K& Co and the spotty piece is anonymous.

As I said probably not my best card and certainly not a good photo. I have just never got out of the bit all day. My husband had the day off today as his boss died of a massive brain haemorrhage yesterday and everyone was given the day off. He was the sort of boss who knew everyone who worked for him - and there were a lot of them. I think what bothers a lot of them was that he was a similar age to a lot of them! Since the roads around us are a bit better, still quite thick ice and a lot of water but an improvement, I went to buy a present for a friend's granddaughter and some more double sided tape! But I seemed to spend a lot of time just faffing about catching up on blogs before I thought maybe I could do a couple of Friday challenges. Tomorrow I need to shift myself and get my DT card done for Totally Gorjuss.

See you tomorrow, I should try to comment on some of the entries for the TG challenge now and maybe have a nice cup of coffee at the same time.

DT Call for Just Cute Bears.

There is a DT call out for a new challenge blog called Just Cute Bears. Ali has set up this new challenge blog and the first challenge will be on Sunday 24th January. At the moment there is a DT call out and it closes on the 17th of January. You need to create a card, any theme, with your favourite bear image. You should also post about the new challenge on your blog, put a link in your sidebar and join as a follower.

So why not pop over and see what it's all about. I think it will be a popular challenge because bears are so popular and you can use them for so many different occasions.

Sugar Bowl 26

I think I need to make a New Year's Resolution!! I must not enter challenges at the last minute. In my defence I wasted the entire afternoon waiting for a Tesco home delivery. Our road is slightly more passable now. It is now solid ice with tracks and holes and even bare tar carefully covered in water. In some parts it is even flooded. So I didn't really think Tesco would come. With that in mind I kept my boots on so that if the guy phoned I would not take so long to get in the car and get to wherever he was. At least I got the car home today, which was lucky as it is almost impossible to walk on our icy drive. Gravel and ice is not a good mixture, nor is a farm track which is mainly dirt and stones and ice. On my way home I realised that the postie was in at our back door. If I hadn't seen him there I might not have tried to get the car home at all. But hey ho if he can get in so can I. To cut a long story short I did get my Tesco shopping but you know how it is when you know that you are waiting for something to happen you can't settle to doing anything.

By the way the postie brought me some parcels from QVC. Some lovely Yankee candles and this gorgeous MME paper. I have had some single sheets of it before but this is a packet of nine different sheets and an accessory sheet and a sheet of letters and numbers. So that is my new item for the Sugar Bowl challenge. Don't you just love this great sketch from Lilian.

I'm a bit disappointed with this photo....as usual. The card candy from Craftwork cards is much more like the colour of the pink paper than it seems here. The sentiment is also from Craftwork Cards. The flowers are made using a Martha Stewart punch and a retro punch. I coloured this lovely Manga Girl with Promarkers as usual.

I really am leaving this too late so I am off now to post this and enter the challenge. At least tomorrow is my day off so I can get some crafting done. After I go and buy some more double sided....I am going through it like nothing on earth.

See you tomorrow and I hope some of you can spare a minute to tell me what you think. I discovered yesterday that I had word verification on so I have got it turned off now. I'm embarassed cos I had no idea it was on so I can only apologise for the hassle and thank all of you who have been kind enough to leave me comments in the past.

I've just found out that there is going to be a special challenge and blog hop on Brenda's blog on 1st February. This is not ordinary candy it is very special super duper candy! So why not follow the link and hop over and find out what it's all about. Should be lots of fun.

An Angel!

Well girls I can't believe it's the 12th of January and I've made a Christmas card! Isn't this a lovely angel from Whiff of Joy. I hope it should fit a few challenges.

The challenge from Whiff of Joy is red and aqua. I used the lovely sketch from Secret Crafter and the challenge from ABC Christmas challenge is A for angel plus charms or beads. Realised also that the Paperplay challenge is Precious metals and I do have a metal charm on the card!

DP - Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly.
Colouring - Promarkers.
Card Candy and sentiment - Craftwork Cards.
Flowers - Hero Arts.
I think that's it!
It seems to be a bit wet here at the moment. It has been very windy and now rainy. The snow is going down but unfortunately it is very icy. I could hardly walk this morning with the dog so I just gave up lol! I had to walk to my neighbour's house where my car was but I managed without falling...luckily. My husband said not to even try the short way home as it was impossible so I had to go the long way. It was also very icy but also very rutted and in places very wet. I have now got the car as far as the gate but it was very difficult to walk in the drive as it was very icy and I am very scared of ice. I fell on a slippy floor when I was 2 and broke my leg and had to spend a long time in traction (with both legs stuck in the air). Thanks to the wonderful care at Yorkhill sick children's hospital in Glasgow I have never had any after effects apart from a terrible fear of slippy situations lol!
I'm off to enter some challenges. As usual I have a feeling I am too late for one of the challenges. Never mind it is a start of my Christmas cards so that can't be a bad thing.
Just to add - yes I was right I was too late for the Whiff of Joy challenge. I find that the problem is that often you don't know when a challenge ends. It's really helpful when a time is specified. Of course it is not always GMT so for us in the UK (ok me) other countries' times can be a bit confusing. Maybe I'd get on better if I just assumed that the latest time was the morning of the day before at the latest not the evening. I'll just have to try to do challenges earlier not at the last minute.
I also meant to say that I've added a banner for "Say no to verification". The ABC Christmas challenge blog are keen for us all to say no to verification and they are offering blog candy if we turn off verification. It makes it much quicker to leave comments and you can always use owner approval to screen comments if you are worried about spam. I didn't realise I had it on so I have turned it off now and entered the challenge.
See you tomorrow and I'd love to hear what you think about my Christmas card.

Chocolate - Yummy.

The title of the post is maybe not entirely accurate because as usual I've been trying to combine challenges lol! I wanted to do the Passion for Promarkers challenge which provided this great sketch with a theme of love. I thought the Creative Inspirations Wednesday challenge blog with it's anniversary theme would also fit this card. But for some reason instead of making something obvious like pink, red, silver or gold I decided to use brown and cream. This fits the theme of Hot Chocolate which fits two challenges :- Quixotic and Simon Says Stamp.

I'm afraid I have no idea where the DP is from as I have had it for a long time but I know it is all the same brand! I embossed a piece of cream card in the Cuttlebug with the Heart Blocks folder. Unfortunately you can hardly see the pattern as only the corners stick out under the paper above. The lovely Forever Friends image is coloured with Promarkers and I used gold stickles for the champagne popping out of the bottle.

After I finished the card I thought yuk. When I came back to it with a cup of coffee it seemed a bit better but I still think I've probably made a wrong choice of colours. Too late now, it's done!!
Here I am late at night as usual so I am just going to post this, enter the challenges and go to bed. Hopefully I can catch up with you tomorrow. It has been a bit of a short evening. I phoned my DH to check if I would get up the hill now that there is a bit of a thaw. He said it was fine, he had got up the hill but the road was now very uneven so you were all over the place. Before I got out of work he phoned back to say that his van had got stuck in the (short) track out to our house and would have to dig the van out. So I got back and left my car at my neighbour's house. Because the snow is thawing you just sink into it and there is still quite a lot of it. Think it may take a while to get black roads where we are. So by the time tea was made and eaten it was well after 7pm. Never mind at least the journey was a bit less horrendous than it has been.
See you tomorrow, take care and keep safe and warm.

Baby Girl Card.

I think I may be jinxed. I've left this a bit late as usual and when I finished I took a couple of photos and put them on the laptop and then uploaded them to blogger and decided which of the two looked best. Neither was actually that good but it is evening! Then I realised that I hadn't added the 5 jewels I meant to put under the ribbon. So I've deleted the first photos and tried again.

Not sure if I'm too late for the Mojo Monday challenge or not but I liked the sketch and I need a baby card. This is handy because the Cupcake challenge is a baby card and the Cute Card Thursday challenge is New. The Sohisticat challenge is fancy borders and I have done a heart border and the Spoon Full of Sugar challenge is hearts. The ABC challenge is L for layering. Lastly the Papertake Weekly challenge is new beginnings. I think I am probably too late for some of these challenges but the card will do for a friend who has a new grand daughter.

I used some lovely DP from Craft Creations, which unfortunately does not photograph very well! The cute little image is from Stampendous and I coloured it with Promarkers. The lovely scalloped card is from Craftwork Cards and I cut the border with a Martha Stewart punch.
I'd best shoot off now and do my ironing as I suppose I need to go to work tomorrow. Hope you all had a lovely weekend. It seems to have passed very quickly. I don't suppose tomorrow at work will pass very quickly. I'm really keen to get in among my new stash but I've been too busy this weekend. I've had a look at the 2010 Hero Arts catalogue that I treated myself to. That may have been a mistake as I can see more stamps I would like lol!!
Take care in this snowy weather and keep safe and warm. Hope you can find time to tell me what you think of my efforts.

New Stash!

Well we got my daughter dropped off at her work and if the snow stays we probably won't see her for a week. We also went to Tesco in Aberdeen. Couldn't believe what the shelves were like. Even a store as big as that has really taken a hit - there were empty spaces everywhere. I thought it was bad in our village shop but I didn't expect to see Tesco like that.

What I didn't have time to tell you earlier was that when I struggled home from work I discovered that the postie had been. I think the last time we had a postie was about Monday. He/she has struggled through the snow before that. To give them a little plug I think they have done and are doing a great job in this horrendous weather especially the ones who do country areas, small villages and towns. Our nearest village is awful and even a nearby town has dreadful roads and pavements. I had a chap posting parcels today and when I said the labels were for free courier return and not free Royal Mail return he muttered that couriers never turn up to take stuff back and he would just pay. I digress.....as usual. The postie brought me parcels from Craft Obsessions, Sir Stampalot and the Glitter Pot. So I have lots of new goodies - stamps and papers and a new McGill ticket punch. I even got the new Hero Arts 2010 catalogue - wow - I must find time for a good look at it.

I also had a Christmas card from a friend. Yes you did read that correctly! I wondered what had happened to it. She can be a bit scatty. I once got a parcel from her that had no trace of postage!! I can only assume there must have been something at one time as even she could not have posted a parcel without stamps. The card had got mislaid when she put up her decorations and she found it when she put them past. She has recently become a Granny again too so I have and excuse to make a couple of baby girl cards.

I need to go now and look at my soup pot as I am in the middle of making stock for soup.

See you tomorrow.

Totally Gorjuss 12 - Sketch.

Good afternoon girls, I can't believe it's Saturday again already! Worse....when I changed the date stamp when I finished today I had to change it to the 11th!!! Already, and the 1st seems just a blink away.

Anyway since it's Saturday it's time for another Totally Gorjuss challenge and this week we have a sketch from the very talented Net. This is a great sketch and I'm looking forward to seeing what lovely cards all you clever ladies out there come up with.

Since I was a little late in the week making this card I hit on the idea of using black and white with a little touch of colour. And what a coincidence that is what Crafty Creations want this week so I can enter this card for their challenge. The main DP is from Doodlebug Designs and the spotty piece is from DCWV. I coloured the lovely Gorjuss Girl - available from Funky Kits who have a sale on just now with 10 stamps at half price -with Promarkers. I used nesties to cut out the image as usual and the edge of the circle is also edged with Poppy Promarker as is the sentiment and the card candy from Craftwork Cards is also coloured.

I discovered that there is a newCraftwork Cards challenge blog and the first challenge is C for Card Candy so I can enter that too.

I had a horrendous journey home from work today. Snow falling and a very white, very narrow, hilly, bendy minor road is not a good combination. It is only 2 miles but I was very scared. I've always lived in the country and had to drive in horrible conditions for more years than I want to admit but I don't think I've ever been so scared. My husband just came home and even he couldn't get up the hill on the road which is only just over a mile and not nearly so scary so he had to come the longer way home. I think we are off now to take my daughter to work in Aberdeen. Like me it is just assumed that she will turn up for work whatever the conditions. Some people tend to assume that if it is ok where they are then it is ok for everyone else!!! Where we are it is definitely not ok. While we are out I think a quick trip to Tesco would be a good idea!!

See you later. Keep safe and warm everybody.

Tigger!

Just a quick post tonight to show the card I made for the Friday Sketchers challenge. I did the bloghop the other day but I have been a bit slow about getting my card made for the challenge. It's been a bit of a funny day as mentioned in my previous post lol. Surely tomorrow will be better. This card will also fit the Creative Card Crew challenge which is distressing this week.

I think this could be a birthday card for a child although I have to admit to having a soft spot for Winnie the Pooh and his friends lol! Not sure if I like the card very much though!

I stamped the image twice and layered it with sticky pads for a bit of dimension. I coloured it with Promarkers and also coloured some card candy to match. I embossed some core'dinations Black Magic card with the cuttlebug and distressed it to show up the sentiments on it. My part circles are not very good because I'm not very good when it comes to drawing round plates lol! The DP is both sides of a piece of Bo Bunny paper. I finished off with some card candy from Craftwork Cards and some matching ribbon. Think that's all I can say about this card.

Thanks for looking and I'd love to hear what you think of this card.

Just Magnolia 38.

Good afternoon and I hope everyone is managing to keep going in spite of all this snow. It is still very nasty here in Aberdeenshire. I spent ages getting the snow off my car this morning and struggled over to work. I must be daft because I only need to go into work for about 10 minutes to finish off the weekly balance in the post office after the lottery payments and prizes are sorted out when the shop closes on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't easy to get out of our drive and down the farm track to the tar road but I made it. After that it is only a mile or so to the main Aberdeen to Peterhead road but it is very narrow at the best of times and even more so when there is drifted snow! Road was nasty but not any worse than previously. The main road was not even very good but it was busy. So I did what I had to do, got my paper and milk and headed for home. And got stuck!!!! From the main road it is quite a steep little hill and off course you have a right angled turn from clearish road onto snow and ice. So you have to slow right down. Of course this is not ideal when you need a bit of speed to get up the hill. I got so far and then that was it, reversed back but got stuck. Got out my shovel but no use as the road was pure ice. So trudged up the hill and found the farmer who said he would pull me up the hill. Went back down to the car and then along came our neighbours' son on his tractor. So then the farmer at the main road came down on his Manitou loader, put a rope on and in seconds I was up the hill on the level beside his house. Home from there no problem but really embarassed. Before that I thought about nipping to Tesco as it was quite a nice morning. Banish that thought......I was too worried about getting stuck on the same hill. I won't say how long I have been driving in all sorts off conditions but this is the first year I have got stuck and twice in the same week too!!!

My daughter has gone out with the dog and the snow has come on again and quite heavy by the look of the amount that has landed on the Velux window I can see from where I am sitting. She will not be chuffed.....to say the least.

But enough of me waffling because I know that very many of us are in the same position and at least we have food and electricity and oil for our heating. (as long as the oil lasts!) I have made this card with the lovely Tilda with present. I love this image and used her at Christmas too. I think you could easily use her for birthdays too because there is no specific Christmas element about her. I coloured her with Promarkers and also used them to edge the flowers. I think I may have gone too far with the flowers, maybe I should have left it at just edging them! The DP is the lovely Basic Grey Wassail but these particular papers do not look Christmassy so I could use this for a birthday card or put it past for next Christmas. I would have liked a dark red ribbon but could only find a really narrow one so I used this lovely shimmery, sparkly white one instead.

Now I think I deserve a wee coffee and a Kit Kat before I think about another card. I should also think about my chicken curry for tea. I made lentil soup on the spur of the moment yesterday afternoon so my daughter and I had that at lunchtime. I seem to make soup all the time in the winter. I'm a bit of a spur of the moment soup maker. I usually think what have I got and chuck it in a pot. I'll try making soup with any kind of veg! I need to do a card for Friday Sketchers since I got round to doing their blog hop. And of course I still have to make my Totally Gorjuss DT card.

Nearly forgot I should say that the point of this post was to show you the card.........which I have done and it is for the Just Magnolia challenge.

Hope to be back later with another card.

Party 2010

Just a quick post with the card I should have finished last night and posted! I have to go to work in an hour (or probably less would be better) and yesterday it took about an hour to get the snow off my car especially the windscreen. Then to crown it all I was heading out the track from our house to the very narrow back road that leads to the main road when all the snow slid off the roof onto the windscreen so I had to stop and get rid of that. I just love winter......not"!!

I'm hoping to enter 3 challenges with this card. I coloured this cute PB image with Promarkers and cut it out with nesties. I also used my Cuttlebug to emboss "celebrate"which I then went over in silver pen as it wasn't showing up very well. I also used the bug to cut out the numbers which I decided to raise on foam pads. Not one of my best ideas as even the tiny foam pads are a bit big in places and I had to cut them. To crown it all the little paper covers were not too keen on coming off! I used some lovely Bo Bunny DP - it's lovely and bright and this is both sides of one sheet. The flowers were cut out from vellum and DP with a Martha Stewart punch and the card candy is from Craftwork Cards. And that's it really. Needless to say I did not get as much done yesterday as I had hoped but I have got some more tidying done and some today too. Still not really tidy though!!

The challenges I am entering are:-

Simon Says Stamp Challenge:- Party.
Truly Scrumptious:- Sketch and use vellum.
Penny Black:- Happy New Year.

Think I've just got time to post this and enter the challenges and then I really need to get a move on and go out and brave the snow!!!

Mojo Monday 119.

This is my second post today. Please scroll down if you want to see the one with the card for lots of challenges! I just quickly made this card tonight for the Mojo Monday challenge. I'm never sure when it ends as I get confused with all the different times, I'm not sure how EST relates to GMT!

I used some lovely DP from K&Co. It has lovely muted colours and I thought the roses matched the sentiment! I'm not sure if the two papers together make it a bit busy? The sentiment is one I found in a drawer and there is no name on it. I used nesties as usual, the flower is from my stash and the card candy is from Craftwork Cards.

It's just a simple little card but I thought it might be a useful one to have in my box. That is if I had a box of cards instead of just a messy pile. I definitely need more storage. But then again it would probably help if I got rid of some of the stuff that I will never use.

Best go now, one of us has to go to work tomorrow and oh joy it isn't me! In spite of the fact that tomorrow is a Scottish Bank Holiday the Post Office would like us to be the same as the rest of the network. Not sure why as we never have been before at this time of year. But since I worked extra hours in Christmas week my colleague is doing my day tomorrow. My daughter has a day off too which is probably not what either of us would want. I couldn't watch TV this afternoon because she doesn't like anything I want to watch and vice versa.
Looking forward to another day crafting tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get more done than I did today lol! Keep warm girls and see you tomorrow.

New Beginnings.

Good evening girls, I hope you are all feeling fine in spite of this very wintry weather. Today I have been very good - I can hear you thinking "for once!" Yeah, you're right. But today I have done my ironing in the afternoon, made tea, made sandwiches for hubby who goes back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off (lucky thing I only get 2 days each week) and now there is a BIG pot of tattie and leek soup simmering away on the cooker for tomorrow. I don't want to go near the kitchen now because I know the smell will be just fantastic. The pot is just full of potatoes and leeks and beef. It was made with a lovely piece of beef and it is all in the soup now. A meal in one pot! I'm just about drooling typing this lol!

Anyway I digress.....as usual! I just wanted to show you a card I made yesterday evening for a few challenges. I followed the lovely sketch from Sketch and Stash. Nothing like a good sketch to start off with. I coloured this lovely image from Pink Gem Designs. They have some beautiful images and they are a dream to colour with Promarkers. I used the lovely DP from Basic Grey and some peachy pink card for matting. This wasn't the colour of pink I intended to use but it seemed to go with the DP. I was a bit unsure about the wheels as I thought black would have been too dark with a pink and white pram. I suppose I could have used grey but this fawny sort of colour seemed to fit with the DP. The lovely lace is from Quixotic Paperie . Elaine has some lovely lace and I have this one in 3 different colours. Unfortunately you can't see it very well because the image is quite big and the picture is a bit wishy washy. I thought maybe I'd get a decent photo today as it was nice and bright...but no...it was too bright!! Not sure about the blue brads in the Prima flowers. The Basic Grey challenge is cream, pink and blue and although there are blue flowers in the DP I got it into my head that there was not enough blue in the card! I used nesties to cut out the image and the scalloped mat and a Stampin up edge punch to edge the pink card on the left.

I'm hoping to enter the following challenges with this card:-

Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and new stash - new Pink Gem image.
Stamp Something :- New somethings - new image, new baby card.
Basic Grey :- Basic Grey DP and cream, pink and blue.
Cupcake craft challenge :- Celebration.
Charisma Cardz :- Celebration.
Secret Crafter :- New beginnings.
Paperplay :- New beginnings.
Stamping for the weekend :- New beginnings.
By the Cute and Girly :- New - new stamp, new baby.
Fussy and Fancy :- New - new stamp, new baby.
Daring Cardmakers :- New beginnings.

I hope I've got all these right and that I'm in time. Maybe it would have been more smart to post this in the afternoon after all! Not to worry, I enjoyed making the card and it's always useful to have a spare new baby card in the house. I'll go and see if I've done everything right to enter these challenges.

Charisma Cardz 1st Birthday Blog Hop.

I've just been taking part in a blog hop over at Charisma Cardz. They are having a blog hop because it is their 1st Birthday and there are lots of prizes. 15 altogether I think and each member of the DT has candy on offer too. Why don't you pop over and take part. All you have to do is collect a word from each DT member and then go back to Charisma Cardz and tell them the answer. You have until Wednesday 6th January at 7.30pm GMT to enter.

On the way I noticed that Carlyann is giving away blog candy to celebrate 77,000 hits/Mega Christmas/New Year. Below is a picture of some of it. Here is a link to Carlyann's blog. So why not pop over to her blog and have a look at her wonderful creations. The blog candy is open until about the end of January.

I think that is probably enough from me for today. There is another blog hop I want to take part in over at Friday Sketchers but I will leave that until tomorrow.

First card in 2010.

At Totally Gorjuss we thought that a "Thank You" card would be a good challenge for this time of year. At this time of year we all get lovely presents for Christmas and we all need to thank people for them. And of course we need to thank our lovely sponsor Joanna Sheen who has given us a £10 voucher for our winner. Joanna has lots of goodies in her online store and the service is great and there is no p&p.

I've used this sweet Gorjuss Girl holding an envelope which seems appropriate for a thank you card. I coloured her with Promarkers as usual. The DP is the gorgeous Laundry Line from MME. I love this paper. There are lovely patterns and glitter and they all fit together so well. I added some lace from Quixotic Paperie. Elaine has lots of lovely lace and a whole lot of other embellishments. I can not have a look at her online shop without buying lol! I finished off with some Prima flowers, brads and glittery jewels.

It's still very icy and snowy here and if you look closely at the sides of the photo you might see some snow out of my conservatory window lol. We went out to a local Indian restaurant for a meal this evening and even the main road was not good. The back road over to us is very icy and rutted now and the hill down to the main road is very slippy. It's a case of 1st gear and hope that you stop at the bottom!! When we got to Ellon (our nearest town) the roads were a disgrace and the pavements were pretty dangerous. Not sure how it can save money to not clear roads and pavements and then a lot of people end up at A&E! Anyway enough complaining about the road conditions I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat.

I'm also going to enter some challenges with this card.

Quixotic :- Lace.
Magical Crafts :- Thank You.
Creative Inspirations Wednesday challenge :- Thank You.
Crafty Cardmakers :- Favourite things - my gorgeous DP and this lovely lace.
Papertake Weekly :- Sketch.
Winter Wonderland :- Thank You.
My Time to Craft :- Anything goes.
Crafty Creations :- Glitter and bling.

I think that is all the challenges that this card fits so I will finish off now and see what else I can make. I have missed making cards for the last wee while but I have caught up with a few blogs over the last few days.

Hope some of you can find time to pop over to Totally Gorjuss and join in with us this week. As you can see from my list of challenges a Thank You card would fit the bill on a lot of challenges. The rest of the DT have made some lovely cards and we are all looking forward to seeing what you make too. We would all appreciate if you could find time to leave us a comment telling us what you think of our Thank You cards.
