Totally Gorjuss Challenge 237 - Buttons and/or Bows.

Good morning everyone. Is it just me or does Saturday come round really quickly? What's even more scary is that on Monday it'll be 8 weeks since my operation! I went back to work yesterday as I thought a half day on Friday and Saturday would break me in and my colleague has agreed to work on Monday afternoon so I only need to do the morning. You can see from this that we don't have the Bank Holiday on Monday. On the plus side we have a local holiday the next Monday.

But enough waffle, I'm trying to get this post done while I have an Internet connection!

At Totally Gorjuss this week our challenge is Buttons and/or Bows. I've only managed one button but I've added two bows.

I used :-
Flower :- Tim Holtz Tattered Florals.
Sentiment, button and twine :- Stampin' Up!
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Embossing Folder and -Doily :- Sizzix.
Martha Stewart punch and ribbon.

I've bought my neighbour a gorgeous Orchid as well and I'll take it over after work. I thought about flowers but I think she'll probably get lots of flowers and hopefully a plant will last longer.

As usual I've been a bad blogger. I thought when I was off work I'd do lots of blogging but with this awful connection I just get fed up and switch of my laptop. If I'm being honest I think after five years I'm getting fed up blogging! Never thought I'd say that.

Thanks for looking and I'll be round to see what you're up to after work.

Distress Ink Christmas.

Hi everyone. I hope you're all well this Remembrance Sunday. A few years ago when my children were in Boys' Brigade, Guides and Brownies I used to always hope the weather was dry and not too cold. In those days they paraded in uniform but not usually jackets and if it rained it was miserable. When I was in Brownies and Guides you certainly didn't wear a jacket or coat and a Brownie dress or Guide blouse was not very warm! Thinks are different nowadays, the uniforms are warmer and they wear jackets. Somehow they don't look very smart nowadays. My son is 35 and I wouldn't have dreamt of sending him out in trainers but now......

Anyway I digress. I got some new Tim Holtz Christmas stamps and a matching embossing folder recently. I was also lucky enough to get the limited edition winter Distress Inks from Craft Obsessions so I thought I'd try to do something with them all.

I used :-
Stamp :- Stampers Anonymous
Embossing Folder :- Tim Holtz texture fades.
Limited Edition Winter Distress Inks.
Picket Fence Distress Stickles.
Ribbon.

I'm sure you can see that the stamping and embossing don't exactly match but I quite like the effect. I also like the effect of the Distress Stickles round the edge and on the embossed snowflakes.

I'm not sure if this fits the challenge over at Cards For Men :- It's Nearly Christmas. If not they can just delete it!

Thanks for looking and enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Less is More #8 Sketch

I've been really enjoying the Less is More challenge over the past few weeks. I love the sketch this week. In fact I found myself making 2 cards. It's really good to get feedback from Chrissie and Mandi. I don't usually make cards with no embellishments but I'm loving the CAS look. I'm enjoying having to think about how to set out the cards. The layout here is defined but I still had to think about where to put the sentiment.

Here's my first card.

I used :-
Flower :- Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Ribbon from stash.

It's a bit late now so I'll go now and hope to catch up with you tomorrow.

Crafty Cardmakers 32 - Use a Freebie.

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I have been away babysitting at my daughter's since Wednesday evening. We only actually had to babysit all day Thursday and Friday afternoon but since she lives about 2 and a half hours drive away we had to go on Wednesday. Yesterday we just spent some time with them although my hubby was roped into some gardening with Catriona while I stayed indoors with the kids. Today we stayed until Poppy came back from Sunday School and then gathered up our bags and the dog and came home. The dog is very quiet tonight! You can tell I'm writing this on Sunday evening and scheduling my post for Monday!!  She is used to Catriona's dog but had never met Catriona's in-laws Weimaraner before. She was only there till Friday afternoon so Maddy and Missy had the kids to themselves again. Oliver is only 11 months old but he loves dogs.

Anyway enough waffle, here is the card I made for Crafty Cardmakers latest challenge which is to use a freebie. I have used a stamp I got with Craft Stamper but you could also use freebie papers if you have any you got with a magazine. And of course you could use a free digi image.

I stamped my free flower stamp randomly on Kraft paper with Versamark and embossed with bright white embossing powder. I edged the Kraft paper with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. The blue DP is from Tim Holtz. I stamped again with Memento ink, coloured with Promarkers and cut out with a nestie. I added some blue organza ribbon across the middle and popped the image on top of it with sticky pads. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards as is the card candy. I also added some jewels from Hobby House and finished off with some blue flowers from my stash. I added some glitter with a Sakura clear glitter gel pen.

I followed the sketch over at Creative Inspirations Wednesday Challenge Blog so I'll enter that challenge this week.

Since I have a day off today to catch up with some washing and ironing I'm also hoping to be able to get some crafting done too. Hope you can join us this fortnight, I'm sure lots of you can find a freebie of some description. Looking forward to visiting your blogs and seeing what you've done with your freebies. If you need some inspiration pop over to the challenge blog at Crafty Cardmakers and see what my talented teamies have done with their freebies.

Totally Gorjuss 52 Pink.

Good morning everyone and as usual I'm trusting Mr Blogger to post this for me.  Usually I'm at work but this week I'm off babysitting at my daughter's. We went down on Wednesday night after work and I've been kept on my toes ever since. Catriona is on holiday now so we'll probably be home tonight or tomorrow and I've got a day off on Monday so hopefully I can catch up with all my DT work.

Anyway I'm lucky to have managed to make a card this week. I thought I had brought all the stuff I needed to make this card to my daughter's. No! When I looked at the sketch I was using I discovered that I needed three flowers at each side of the image. I had no flowers needless to say. If I'd noticed sooner I could have nipped out and bought some wool as I did have a crochet hook with me. Never mind I managed to improvise some flowers with my lovely pink velvet ricrac. Not sure if they look ok or even like flowers at all but I had to be inventive since this is a DT card and I had to get it made and posted in time.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV.
DP :- Tim Holtz.
Colouring :- Promarkers and Sakura clear glitter gel pen.
Nesties, pink velvet ricrac.
Pearls :- Hobby House.

I followed the sketch from Sketch and Stash so I'm hoping to enter the challenge there. Since I made these flowers I think I can also enter the challenge at ABC which is flowers.

Thanks to everyone who joined us last week and hope to see you again this week. We are sponsored by the lovely girls over at LOTV this week so it's definitely worth joining us this week. I can always find something new to buy every time I check out their webshop.

Enjoy your weekend and I'll catch up with you all later. Thanks for looking at my card and if you have time to let me know what you think I can pop over and visit you too.

By the way we have a DT call out just now so why don't you give it a go. We're a friendly DT and we love working with new people.

Totally Gorjuss 31 Bling it On.

Hi everyone it's Saturday again and time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week we would like to see some bling on your card or project. I've used a Sakura clear glitter gel pen on the fairy's dress and stickles round the nestie circle and the sentiment and also on the flowers.

I've used :-
Image :- LOTV.
DP :- Tim Holtz Shabby Chic.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Flowers :- Wild Orchid Crafts.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Pearls :- The Hobby House.
Nesties, Sakura clear glitter gel pen, Stickles.
I've used the sketch from Creative Card Crew.
And the challenge at Passion for Promarkers is Fantasy/Mythology.
I've got a crop at my local craft shop after work today but I'll check later to see what you think of our challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make this week.

Happy Anniversary.

I've had a bit of a wasted day today! I don't know what I did in the morning apart from catching up on a few of my favourite blogs. Then in the afternoon my daughter was going to Peterhead to the bank and she asked if I wanted to go for a coffee. To be honest I really wanted to stay at home and make some cards but I didn't like to say no. She did buy me a coffee and a muffin and then we went into Thornton's and I bought some sweeties and she bought me a present from Yankee Candles for my birthday. I think it's a diffuser...is that the right term?

So by the time we got home I didn't have much time to make anything but I wanted to get my card made for Penny Black's 2nd Anniversary blog hop. I needed an anniversary card for my husband....for today! Yes I was daft enough to get married on my birthday! That means he only has one chance to forget my birthday and our anniversary lol! Actually he never has in all these years....and it is quite a lot of years.

Sorry for the quality of the photo. I had a reasonable photo but when I looked at the Secret Crafter challenge I realised that I had written down 2 embellishments instead of 3 so I had to add the little heart charm lol!

Edited to add :- I've changed the photo. So if you think this one's not very good you should have seen the one I took last night lol!!

I used :-

Image and sentiment :- Penny Black.

DP :- Tim Holtz - vintage shabby.

Colouring :- Promarkers.

Card candy :- Craftwork Cards.

Ribbon from stash.

Challenges entered :-

Penny Black :- Sketch and image.
Secret Crafter :- 3 embellishments, 2 papers and 1 image.
Pile it On :- Cute and Cuddly.

Now I'm off to enter these challenges and start the Penny Black 2nd anniversary blog hop. Ooops nearly forgot I should also catch up with my DT work too. I've been out at a friends making cards. A few of us do this every fortnight and make cards and have a blether. I'm the slow one, the one that's usually last to finish lol!

Tomorrow I really need to get my DT cards done. I'm a bit late this week but I'll get them done in time. I expect I'll be at Mhairi's flat again this weekend! Still we should be finished before too much longer.

Looking forward to the weekend even though I'm either cleaning or decorating!
