Totally Gorjuss 68 Check it out.

Hi everyone, doesn't Saturday come round really quickly every week. Pity there weren't more Saturdays and  Sundays in a week. Probably not that good an idea I suppose.  After all lots of people have to work at the weekend. I work almost every Saturday, but at least it's just the morning.

So it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. You seemed to like our "Love" challenge last week. We  had lots of entries and saw some amazing cards when I visited your blogs. If you haven't been over to the challenge blog yet remember to pop over to see who's won the prize from Crafter's Companion.

This week we are sponsored by Simon Says Stamp and I'm sure you know that they have a vast stock of goodies. If you haven't checked out their online shop yet you don't know what you've been missing.

Well this week our challenge is "Check it out." We'd like to see checks somewhere on your card or project. It could be DP, ribbon, whatever you like. I love checks and ginghams so I enjoyed this challenge.

Here's my card.

I made this for my son-in-law who's in car sales. And no he's not a dodgy salesman lol! He's a hard working honest guy who wouldn't sell you a bad car. Funnily enough my daughter was in car sales too and that's how they met. She has a different job now close to home as it's easier for her with two kiddies.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute square.
DP :- Wild Rose Studio and Craft Creations.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Bakers' Twine :- The Ribbon Girl.
Ribbon and button from stash.

It was a bit lazy of me to use a cute square as I have this image in rubber too but I've had a lot  to do this week. Some days the pups are quite time consuming! And I had to go off to Aberdeen and get a present for my son-in-law. His birthday is next week and my husband is the day after. Not sure what he's getting, maybe some new jeans that actually fit him! Mmmm like I've got space to talk.

I'd like to enter the following challenges :-
Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and the Bakers' Twine is new stash.
Lili of the Valley :- Red & blue are my favourite colours for male cards.
Cards for Men :- 1 image, 2 DP & 3 embellishments (1 ribbon, 1 button and Bakers' twine.
Pile it on :- For the love of plaid.

Hope you like and maybe you could spare a minute to tell me what you think. Do take a minute to pop over to the blog and see the gorgeous work  from my teamies this week.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all later.

What a Helpful Doggie!

Peace at last! The pups are sleeping so maybe I can get something done now. So far all I have done today is let pups out to the toilet (seems like dozens of times), feed them, walk them!! Apart from that I've cut lots of cards to the size I want and folded it. I've also embossed lots of card so now maybe I can do something about making some cards. I really need to make a lot of quick cards so I can get them posted. After I've printed labels and written the cards of course.

This is a quick card I made last night. These LOTV cute squaresare a real lifesaver this year!

I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute squares.
Sentiment and Card candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart punch.
Touch of Promarker round snowflake and sentiment.
Glamour dust on girl's hat, scarf and trims.
Glitter for snow and edge of image and DP.
DP :- Dovecraft.

I'm going to enter the following challenges with this card :-
Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and cute squares are new stash.
Secret Crafter :- Christmas.
Stamp Something :- Christmas card or colours.
Creative Card Crew :- Anything Goes.

Hope you like! Just about time to have a coffee now and get the tea into the oven while the 2 menaces are asleep. And then  try to get on with some more cards.

Thanks for looking.

Christmas Tilda.

Hi everyone, it seems like a while since  I used this Tilda but I thought she'd be nice for a Christmas card today. I love this Tilda because she can be used for birthdays as well as Christmas.

I used :-
Image :- Magnolia.
DP :- Basic Grey.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflakes :- Martha Stewart punch.
Pearls :- Prima E Line.

I'm entering this in the Just Magnolia challenge which is anything goes plus beads. I used the lovely sketch from Sketch and Stash.

Thanks for looking and if you've got a minute to leave a comment I'd love to hear what you think. I've got a small candy planned and I'll post it later if I've got time, if not I'll do it first thing tomorrow.

Christmas Tilda in Pink.

Hi everyone. I've made another Christmas card! Not happy with this one though. I found a great sketch at Sketch and Stash but I don't think I've done it justice.I wanted to enter the Christmas Tilda in pink challenge over at Die Cut Dreams Christmas Club so I made this card in a bit of a hurry this morning after I'd been very good and done my housework lol! That was a mistake because I was an hour too late! It also fits the challenge at Pollycraft which is Christmas with no red or green.

I used:-

Image :- Tilda.

DP :- Forever Friends.

Sentiment and card candy :- Craftwork Cards.

Colouring :- Promarkers and Sakura clear glitter gel pen.

Snowflake :- Sizzix.

Jewels :- Hobby House.

I hope this makes sense because I haven't got my glasses on and I really should have them to read what I'm typing lol!! I have other cards to post that I made yesterday but I'll need to shoot now if I want to have some lunch before I go to work.

Just Cute Bears # 32 Embossing.

Good morning everyone and it's time for another challenge over at Just Cute Bears. This week we'd like to see some embossing on your card. You could do heat embossing or dry embossing, either with embossing folders or a light box. It's up to you, whatever you prefer. I have to admit to loving my embossing folders.

Thanks to everyone who joined us last week for our colour challenge. I love pink and brown together and you seemed to like that colour combo too. There were some beautiful cards.

This week I was in Christmas mode so I thought I'd make a Christmas card for Just Cute Bears too. Don't you just love the new Christmas images from Lili of the Valley?

I used :-
Image :- LOTV diecut.
DP :- Memory Box - Mistletoe.
Card Candy and Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart punch
Card candy and edges of snowflakes coloured with Promarker.
Swiss dots embossing folder.
Stickles, Sakura glitter gel pen and Ice White Pearl Pen.
I quite like this card so when I was at a crop at my local craft shop yesterday I made another 5. All slightly different. I also coloured in 6 images so at least I'm making a start on my Christmas cards. We had a lovely time at the crop. We've been meeting about every 4 weeks since last September and we always have fun. Everyone took something - sweet, savoury, paper plates sweets and crisps. We had sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls etc; trifle, cake, meringues plus traybakes and tablet. Yummy. I took carrot cake and rocky road. It's a surprise we got any work done with all the eating and chatting.
I'm also entering the following challenges :-
Sketch and Stash :-Sketch and new stash - DP.
Stampin for the Weekend :- Anything goes.
The Secret Crafter :- Make a Start on Christmas.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and if you have a holiday tomorrow hope the weather is fine.

Totally Gorjuss 38 - Water, Water.

Good morning everyone and it's time for another challenge over at Totally Gorjuss. This week our challenge is "water, water." We'd like to see water in one form or another on your card.

I have to admit I did struggle a bit here. I couldn't think what image I had that had water on it. Then I remembered I had a Hobby Art Bear in a bath or this Penny Black cat in a bath. I love this image, I think the cat looks as if she's enjoying her bath and does that look like pink champagne (or maybe just rose wine)?

I was running a bit late hence just a simple card. I wasted a lot of time this morning......when I should have been doing housework....trying to draw a hexagon. Not for this I hasten to add but all will be revealed soon lol!

I used :-

Image :- Penny Black.

DP :- Basic Grey Kioshi.

Senitment and card candy :- Craftwork Cards.

Nesties and stickles, flowers and jewels from stash.

I'm also entering the Sketch and Stash challenge. My new unused stash is this lovely Penny Black image. I just love the expression on that cat's face and I think the mouse looks pretty happy too lol!
Hope you like and I'm looking forward to seeing how you interpret our challenge this week. If you have time I'd love to hear what you think of my little card. And please try to pop over to my talented teamies blogs to see what they've made this week. We have to new GDTs this week who are both very talented ladies and I'm sure you'll love what they've done too.

By the way did you notice my new watermark? I bought it from Whimsy Stamps. Vicky gave the link on her blog recently and I had been wanting to have a watermark so I couldn't resist checking it out. It's quite easy to use after you have done it once. It's just a matter of remembering to add it to your photos! I bought a signature too and it's even easier to use. If I can do it anyone can lol

Sleepy Bear!

Hi everyone. Seems like ages since I posted a card. I did make another one today but I can't show it to you till Saturday since it's my DT card for Totally Gorjuss. I've been out 2 nights this week so I'm probably lucky to have got any cards made any cards at all. I'm really pleased to have managed to make a card for the Penny Black challenge. It's ages since I managed an entry there and I do love my Penny Black stamps!

Image :- Penny Black.
DP :- Paper Adventures.
Flowers :- Hero Arts.
Sentiment and card candy :- Craftwork cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
I'm meaning to enter a few challenges with this card:-
Penny Black :- Spring colours.
The Pink Elephant :- Spring colours.
Cupcake :- Green.
Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and my DP has been neglected for quite a while!
Fussy and Fancy :- Green.
I think that's all I can say about this card, quite a simple one really.

Blue for a Boy!

Good afternoon everyone. I hope the weather is not too bad where you are. Here it is very cold but it has been a beautiful sunny day. Would be even better if the ground was not covered with snow and ice lol!

This week I need to make male cards for my hubbby and son-in-law. I made a very quick one for my son-in-law this afternoon as Ineed to post it tomorrow for Wednesday. At least it would have been quick but when I picked it up to take a photo of it I realised I had stuck the gingham panel - and of course the image and sentiment - in the wrong places. So I had to make it into an easel card. Oh well at least it's finished now, nothing else to do. The doggy, which came from an Inkadinkado clear set of stamps, reminded me of their daft Labrador Missy. The paws are from the same set. I've been dying to use the ticket stamp from Hero Arts so this was the perfect chance. This lovely DP is from the blue patchwork set from Cuddly Buddly. I love these papers, I used the purple set already this weekend and I also have pink! As I am keeping this card nice and plain and simple, I don't think men appreciate bows and flowers and jewels, I finished by adding some card candy coloured with Promarker from Craftwork Cards.

Not much else to say girls except I hope he likes it. I'm feeling quite creative today so maybe I can get something else planned before I need to make tea. Just the two of us tonight as daughter is working till 10pm so we can eat quite early and I can have an evening of crafting! Well apart of having to iron and go online and find a birthday present for my son-in-law!

I think I can enter a few challenges with this card too:-

Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and I used some lovely new stamps.
Totally Papercrafts :- Lots of spots.
Papertake Weekly :- Checks/gingham.
Allsorts :- Tag, ticket or label.
Cupcake :- Keep it simple.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Kat xx

PS don't forget to enter my candy. I'm going to see what else I can find when I get a few minutes to spare.

What a Sweetie!

Good evening girls, I haven't had time to make anything today....yet but here is a card I made yesterday. I love this Tilda, she looks so sweet, doesn't she? I haven't been very good at entering the Just Magnolia challenge for a few weeks, which is a pity as I love my Tildas. So this week I have taken the chance to be early for a change.

Colouring:- Promarkers.
DP:- Basic Grey.
Sentiment:- Craftwork Cards.
Roses:- Prima.
Also used:- Nellie Snellen punch, Nesties, velvet ric rac ribbon, heart charm, heart shaped jewels, red Spica glitter gel pen on hearts on dress and glimmer mist.
Think I may have overdone the Glimmer Mist, it's everywhere lol!
The other challenges I am entering are:-
Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and I used some new flowers.
Colour Create :- Red, white, chocolate and pink with the addition of silver and hearts.
Cute Card Thursday :- In the name of love.
Susie's Sassy Challenge :- Hearts and flowers.
Daring Cardmakers :- Have a heart.
Fussy and Fancy :- Dazzle us.
Paperplay :- Birthday card for someone special.
Pile it on :- Flowers.
I think that's the lot. Now will I try to make something or do my ironing? Decisions, decisions!

Totally Gorjuss 13 - Monotone card.

This is my DT card for the Totally Gorjuss challenge. I hope some of you will want to join us this week. It is a nice easy challenge this week and I'm sure you could combine it with some other challenges! We would like you to make a "monotone" card this week ie shades of one colour. I have chosen my favourite colour - lilac. You could probably guess this from my blog name - lilackat lol!

I used the lovely sketch from Sketch and Stash which is nice and simple and great for a quick card. I used some neglected ribbon and some new Prima flat backed pearls. I think there is probably lavender in this card so I am going to enter it in the ECP challenge.

Materials used:-
DP - DCWV
Colouring - Promarkers.
Faux stitching with an American Crafts precision pen.
Punch - EK Success
Ribbon and jewels from stash.

It's quite a plain card so I hope you like it. Please join us at Totally Gorjuss this week if you have time. We have a prize every week and we love to come round your blogs and see what you have made.

I'm going to a crop after work and I still don't know what I am going to do so I'd best go off now and find something before it's too late. Enjoy your weekend.

Sketch and Stash 20.

Good afternoon girls, today I would like to show you the cards I finished making at the crop yesterday. This one is for Sketch and Stash Challenge#20.

I coloured the lovely Honey with Present image from Sugar Nellies with my Promarkers. The papers are the gorgeous Bo Bunny Tis the Season. I love them they are so fresh and bright. I have to confess that for some obscure reason I made her hat and scarf and glove yellow and it was horrible - totally out of place, so I went over the top with powder blue to give a green similar to the base card. Iused a new Martha Stewart snowflake punch I bought at the crop and one I already had to punch out the snowflakes from glitter card. I added some Fired Brick distress ink to the snowflakes and finished off with some ribbon from my stash. The sentiment is from Penny Black and nesties were used to cut the circles.

Back soon with another card.

First Anya.

Not sure if this was a good idea! I've never entered Anyone for Anya before but as I recently got some Anya's I decided this evening to have a go. I'm not sure when the cut-off time is so maybe I'm too late anyway!! I used the sketch and stash to make the card. I've used some stash that has been around for a while - my flowers and ribbon and some new stash the very lovely Hippie Anya. I think colouring her with Sakura gel pens was maybe a mistake. At least in terms of trying to take a photo at 11pm lol. I used Basic Grey June bug DP which seems bright enough for a hippie.

I need to stop doing things at the last minute. I really should have made this card sooner rather than catching up with blogs before I started to make this card.

Thanks for looking and tomorrow I will post another piccie and also some of the ones I made at the crop I was at today.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for looking.

Sketch and Stash 18 and more.

If you are guessing that I haven't done my ironing yet you would be right lol! I might be too late for the Sketch and Stash 18 challenge but it fits other challenges too and I like the sketch. It was really easy to use. Sorry about the dodgy photo, this time of night is not the best to take a photo. I've discovered that if I take a photo sort of from above it is almost viewable but I will replace it with a better one tomorrow! I watercoloured this sweet Penny Black image. My DP is wild raspberry from K & Co. It is neglected not because I don't like it but because I do!! I'm sure you all understand this. The paler DP has hearts on it which might not be obvious in this photo. Do you like my heart brads - I think they are really sweet. I used the lovely Martha Stewart heart punch for even more hearts. The flowers and jewels are from my stash and I inked round the DPs with Vivid ink pads. Monday morning now and I've replaced the original photo with a slightly better one. You might well wonder how bad the first one was if this one is better!

Challenges for this card:-

Sketch and Stash 18:- neglected DPs and heart brads.
Penny Black Saturday Challenge:- Hearts desire - DP, heart brads and heart punch.
Secret Crafter:- Hearts and Flowers.

This time I really need to do my ironing!! In spite of the fact that I have a day off tomorrow I will be out two evenings this coming week and probably going to my friend's house again on Wednesday afternoon to get some cards done for our sale of work. So I need to be able to do some crafting tomorrow.

Back to School!

Good evening everyone, hasn't it been a lovely day. Hope it has been nice for the Bank Holiday weekend in England. Here in Scotland the Bank Holiday was at the beginning of August. Somehow working in the Post Office I get neither of these holidays. I think the only Bank Holiday we get is May Day the other holidays we get are just local holidays. I haven't had many holidays yet so I have arranged with my colleague to have some days off at the end of September and some in October. I especially need the weekend of 24th-26th October as it is the big craft show at the SECC in Glasgow. I have been saving up for it since the last one in March. The only thing that bothers me is that my daughter's second baby is due on the 27th!! I hope she is about a week before that or after. She was late last time but that was a bit nerve wracking as you can imagine. Anyway enough waffling I need to tell you what I've made this card for.

The challenge over at the House Mouse Monday challenge blog is Back to School. At first I thought I didn't have anything suitable as I have a lot of House Mouse Christmas stamps but didn't remember this one!! When I realised I did have a suitable stamp I knew that I had papers which would be ideal. How lucky is that. I discovered that this card would also fit another four challenges. I love to combine if I can!
Here's another view of the card showing how the letters and the image are 3d'd on foam pads. I used Promarkers to colour the image and also the letters which were initially white. I found some little gems in my stash and thought using 4 different colours would be nice. I thought the letters would fit the style of the card better than flowers. I thought about buttons but I think the letters work better. I did some faux stitching round the papers - it took me so long I would have been better doing real stitching lol. I thought I would struggle for a sentiment but I think this one from a set of Clearly Defined stamps works quite well. I added an s to it as it only said "happy day". I used the lovely sketch from Sketch and Stash and rotated it to fit the shape of the image better.
I'm quite pleased with the way this card turned out - for once!! But I think it will be a while before I use it as Poppy is not 2 yet.

Challenges I'm going to enter:-

Sketch and Stash:- House Mouse stamp, Sandylion papers and chipboard letters are all neglected stash.
House Mouse Monday Challenge:- Back to School.
Paperplay:- Back to School.
Simon says Stamp:- Back to school.
Stamp Something:- Animals.

Sunday evening now so after I link this post to the challenges I want to enter I best do my ironing. Sometimes I read the Sunday Herald at work on a Monday - well you can't do your ironing in the Post Office, can you?

Enjoy your Bank Holiday girls, those of you who have a holiday, hope you have a lovely day. If you want to tell me what you think of this card or any other one I would love to read your comments. It makes my day to read your kind words. Makes you feel as if you are part of a lovely friendly family of bloggers with the same love of crafting. I love to have time to visit other people's blogs and see what beautiful things they have made.

On a Roll Today!

I made this card using the Sketch and Stash sketch which was very easy to use. I watercoloured the sweet Penny Black hedgie. I managed to use the Penny Black Saturday Challenge colours which are blue, tan and cream. I was a bit worried about the colours as I thought I might not have these colours. But I found some papers I had never used from Daisy Bucket which were perfect colourwise! In fact I used both sides of one sheet lol. I used a brad, ribbon, flowers and jewels from my stash. I made the other flower using the papers and backing card and various punches. The DP qualifies as new never used stash for Sketch and Stash.
Then I made this card for Mojo Monday using their lovely sketch. I was a bit dubious when I saw it at first as I thought it was a bit complicated. But I had a good look at the DT cards and thought maybe I could do it if I just kept calm and took my time lol. I think it may do for the Allsorts challenge which is "English Country Garden" - Both DPs have roses on them! The DPs are the gorgeous Basic Grey porcelain. I made the base card from a matching pink and also used it for layering. Nesties were used for the circles as usual and the sentiment is stamped in matching pink. Green ribbon and a jewel from my stash complete the card.
I should probably do my ironing now but I feel as if I am on a bit of a roll LOL so I may have a look at the Papertake Weekly sketch or a Spoon Full of Sugar since I am out at work all day tomorrow. But for now I'd best post this and link my cards before it is too late.
Thanks for looking and if you like my cards please tell me. I love to read your comments and I also love to visit other people's blogs and see their lovely work.

Hat Trick!

I think I've made it a hat trick. I used the sketch from Sketch and Stash with the added option of ribbons. Iused my new Tilda with Cherry Dress and a charm for the Just Magnolia Challenge, and hearts for the Spoon Full of Sugar challenge. The papers are Wild Raspberry from K & Co. I watercoloured Tilda and added stickles to her wings. Ribbons and brads from my stash.
Thanks for looking, Kat x

Card for Three Challenges.

I started this post last night but the photo was so bad I took another one this morning. I am going to enter it in three challenges. I used the sketch from the Sketch and Stash Challenge. The image is a Penny Black stamp and I've used red, white and blue and I've added faux stitching for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge.
I used some neglected starry paper from a DCWV stack and an animal stamp from Penny Black. The scallops were cut out with Nestabilities and the faux stitching is done with an Inkssentials pen. Flowers, brads and ribbons from my stash.
