Big Brother.

Hi everyone my broadband is being a bit iffy tonight so I'll be brief. I've just finished my Tesco shopping and that was not a lot of fun with the connection being so slow.

Recently the last of the three girls at work who became a Granny within a few weeks had a new granddaughter. So her little grandson became a big brother. I thought it would be nice to make a card specially for him. So this is it.

I used :-
Image :- Sugar Nellies.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts and Stampin' Up!
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.

Challenges :-
Sugar Bowl :- Anything Goes.
Stampin for the Weekend :- Anything Goes.

I'm off to catch up with my DT work now.

Thanks for looking and all your lovely comments.

Totally Gorjuss 187 - Hey Baby.

I'm really annoyed! I had almost finished this post when it decided to delete itself. Not sure whether it's my pesky keyboard that sometimes does weird things or what happens! Since I'm typing this late on Friday evening I'm quite fed up now!

This week at Totally Gorjuss our theme is "Hey Baby." This suits me perfectly as I've used a few baby cards recently so another one won't go wrong. So far it's been girl cards I've used so I've made another one. I've used one of my favourite dies. It can be tricky to use but it always looks impressive.

I used :-
DP :- Craft Creations.
Pram :- Marianne die.
Sentiment :- LOTV.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Ribbon from stash and Spellbinders die.

I'm going to quit while I'm ahead here but don't forget to pop over to Crafter's Companion and check out what you could spend your voucher on if you win this week.

Thanks for looking and please let me know what you think if you have a minute to spare. I'll be around to see what you've all be doing after work today.

Thanks Everyone.

Thanks everyone who left suggestions about where I could find some golf images. I've had a look at them all and taken a note of the ones I like best. I liked the male ones and if my colleague likes the one I've made for her Mum she might want one for her Dad who is never off the golf course.

The day after I wrote the post asking where I could find golf images I suddenly realised when I was brushing my teeth that I had a Popcorn Bear golfer image. I think I used it to make a birthday card for my uncle's 90th birthday in 2010. I had a bit of a panic when I couldn't find it. Thought maybe I'd given it away but it was in a drawer I don't often open lol!

So here's the card I made with it. It's not very exciting so I hope she likes it! I hope she doesn't mind the bow as this card will obviously need a large stamp. The 2 I sold on Monday will both need a large stamp. The male one only had a small knot in the ribbon but that's all it needs to stop the envelope going through the letter slot. I'll need to think after this if anyone asks for a card. Belinda probably won't mind as it's a card for her Mum.

I used :-
Image :- Popcorn.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.

Talking of the difference between letters and large letters I had a bit of a run in with a customer the other day. This particular customer is an obnoxious, arrogant, know-all, little man. He asked if his envelope had enough postage so I reached for the plastic template we are supposed to use for all letters and large letters. It stuck so I told him he needed a large stamp. he accused me of not putting the letter through straight. So I did it again and told him it definitely needed more postage. So he shouted again that I hadn't put it in straight. I said again that I had but picked up the template again and showed him that the letter didn't go through. He insisted that it would so I said it was up to him if he wanted to risk it. Then he insisted I hadn't told him how much more it was. By this time the steam was coming out my ears but I managed to remain polite as I said it was another 29p and stuck the stamps on before giving him his change. If I hadn't done that he would probably have accused me of not sticking on the extra postage and keeping the 29p. As if!! He really is a horrible wee man. The kind that really makes your job worthwhile. To give you an idea of what he's like he came in the "out" door and said to the girl at the till "I thought you were dead!" She was horrified and furious at the same time but didn't bother answering. Not sure why he thought it was clever to say something like that to someone who was minding her own business and getting on with her work. If he'd said that to me he'd have got an answer. And I'm definitely not in the habit of being rude to customers, but there's always a first time!

Enough waffle now I'd best go and catch up with some DT work and see if I can get a card made for Saturday.

Thanks for looking and catch up with you all soon I hope. I didn't get a chance to get near the computer yesterday. Last night was my WRI meeting so after work I had to get my bakes ready for the teas. We had a lady showing us the Faberge style eggs she makes. They were absolutely fabulous. They ranged in size from very tiny (quail I think) to enormous Ostrich eggs. Most of them were very intricately decorated and must have taken many hours of work. We were all very impressed by her skill. I reckon I'm much too clumsy to work with eggs. I got home quite late as she could certainly talk!

It's a Girl.

Hi everyone, I was going to do this a lot earlier today but I couldn't get a decent photo. Not that good yet but better than my earlier attempts!

I've already made a shaped card as my DT card for Totally Gorjuss but I couldn't resist doing another one for Penny Black at Allsorts where they don't want to see square or rectangular cards. They're also having a DT call. I'd like to put my name forward for that! I don't think I've got any chance of making the DT but it won't hurt to try. I love my Penny Blacks and have lots I've not even used yet!! I was looking for something this afternoon and I found a carrier with a couple of Penny Black stamps and a Hero Arts cling stamp. No idea how long they've been mislaid. Oh dear!!

So here's my card. It's just a little titchy one as I made it with circle nesties.

I used :-
Image & sentiment :- Penny Black.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sakura glitter gel pen, pearls, Nesties.

I'm hoping to enter the following challenges :-
Craft Your Days Away :- White plus one other colour.
Simon Says Stamp :- Look what the stork brought.
Stamp Something :- Anything goes.
Easy Craft Projects :- Pretty pastel colours.

Well I think I should go now as it's rather late now. Catch up with you all later and thanks for looking.

Totally Gorjuss 77 - Bling It.

Good morning everyone and I hope you're all set for a lovely Easter weekend. Unfortunately I don't have any days off  just now as we have a local holiday at the beginning of April. Still I have a day off for the Royal Wedding and then the May Day bank holiday so that'll be good, more time to craft. Today I'm going to a crop after work. I think we usually do as much chatting as working but it's nice to meet up with the others. I also heard that there's some nice new goodies so a nice browse around seems to be in order.

Today it's time for our latest challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week our challenge is "bling it!" We'd like you to add lots of lovely sparkle to your card or project. We're sponsored by Whoopsi Daisy and Linnie has generously given all the DT their own choice of digi images to use. Thanks Linnie. My teamies have all used really pretty images and made some fabby cards. The ones I chose (4 on a sheet) are really easy to colour and ideal for a new baby card or a child's birthday card.

These images are so easy to use that I ended up using two of them and made a boy card and a girl card!

I used :-
Image :- Whoopsie Daisy digi image.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Gems :- Hobby House.
Glamour Dust.

Challenges for this card :- Sketch and Stash :_ Sketch, and the stash is DP I've had forever.

Totally Gorjuss 68 Check it out.

Hi everyone, doesn't Saturday come round really quickly every week. Pity there weren't more Saturdays and  Sundays in a week. Probably not that good an idea I suppose.  After all lots of people have to work at the weekend. I work almost every Saturday, but at least it's just the morning.

So it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. You seemed to like our "Love" challenge last week. We  had lots of entries and saw some amazing cards when I visited your blogs. If you haven't been over to the challenge blog yet remember to pop over to see who's won the prize from Crafter's Companion.

This week we are sponsored by Simon Says Stamp and I'm sure you know that they have a vast stock of goodies. If you haven't checked out their online shop yet you don't know what you've been missing.

Well this week our challenge is "Check it out." We'd like to see checks somewhere on your card or project. It could be DP, ribbon, whatever you like. I love checks and ginghams so I enjoyed this challenge.

Here's my card.

I made this for my son-in-law who's in car sales. And no he's not a dodgy salesman lol! He's a hard working honest guy who wouldn't sell you a bad car. Funnily enough my daughter was in car sales too and that's how they met. She has a different job now close to home as it's easier for her with two kiddies.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute square.
DP :- Wild Rose Studio and Craft Creations.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Bakers' Twine :- The Ribbon Girl.
Ribbon and button from stash.

It was a bit lazy of me to use a cute square as I have this image in rubber too but I've had a lot  to do this week. Some days the pups are quite time consuming! And I had to go off to Aberdeen and get a present for my son-in-law. His birthday is next week and my husband is the day after. Not sure what he's getting, maybe some new jeans that actually fit him! Mmmm like I've got space to talk.

I'd like to enter the following challenges :-
Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and the Bakers' Twine is new stash.
Lili of the Valley :- Red & blue are my favourite colours for male cards.
Cards for Men :- 1 image, 2 DP & 3 embellishments (1 ribbon, 1 button and Bakers' twine.
Pile it on :- For the love of plaid.

Hope you like and maybe you could spare a minute to tell me what you think. Do take a minute to pop over to the blog and see the gorgeous work  from my teamies this week.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all later.

Some Baby Cards.

I made some baby cards the other day. I have pink ones and blue ones and even lilac ones but my boss and her husband became grandparents last week and I've known their son, the proud Dad, since he was a little boy. So I wanted 2 special cards. I don't know if it happened as planned but here they are anyway.

This is the one I made for the proud grandparents.

I used a digi stamp from Pink Gem Designs, isn't he cute? I used some lovely blue gingham from Craft Creations and coloured with Promarkers.

And this is the inside. I stamped this lovely text from Paper Makeup Stamps on the left and the congrats message was done on the computer.

I'm entering this card in some challenges :-
Cupcake :- Sketch.
Stamp Something :- Use a digi.

This is the card I made for the proud parents. The photo doesn't show up very well but I used some more lovely DP from Craft Creations. The image is from Forever Friends and I've had it for ages and I've used it lots of times, I love it. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the pearls are from the Hobby House. And of course the gorgeous flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I've edged them with Promarker to match.

Inside I've used another lovely sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps and just a stamped congratulations for the message on the other side.

I also made a tag to match for the baby's present. I love both of these sentiment stamps, they're just perfect for new babies.

I'm entering the second card in the following challenges :-
Truly Scrumptious :- Sketch. I've managed to use blue but no green!
Oldie But a Goodie :-  New Beginnings plus a stamp I've had for more than a year.

I think that's me up to date with posting now! Now I need to get some DT work done and try to visit some blogs. I only have one DT card to make and then I can try to get something done with the gorgeous DT kit Jacqui has sent from  Simply Create. This is my first kit from Simply Create and I'm quite nervous cos all the other girls on the DT are really talented.

Hello everyone, today is a very special day for me. It's my elder daughter's birthday today. I won't say what age she is because that would make me look bad lol!!

It's also time for another challenge over at Just Cute Bears. This week our theme is "Bear and Me." We'd like to see someone else as well as a bear. We are lucky to be sponsored by Whiff of Joy. and the prize this week is Bruno with Cupcake. Isn't he cute?

And here's my card. I've had this stamp for ages and I've been dying to use it. Usually the bear is the main focus of our challenge so I've never used it for our challenges but I thought it would be perfect for this week's theme.

Totally Gorjuss 41 - Baby, Baby.

Well good morning girls and welcome to the weekend and another challenge over at Totally Gorjuss. Thanks to everyone who joined us last week and remember to pop over to the challenge blog to see who one last week's challenge.

Now I don't want to be a drama queen but I really thought I wasn't going to be able to post my card. I had it all made last night. Luckily it came together quite quickly as I lost my day off yesterday as my colleague is on holiday. I took a photo this morning before work while it was nice and bright and thought all I had to do was upload it to the DT blog and write my scheduled post on my own blog. Didn't happen!!! I've spent the whole evening trying to get onto my blog. The signal kept disappearing and even when I was supposed to be online I couldn't get onto this site or any other one. I got a bit panicky but then I thought well if I have to be late it can't be helped for once. I'm sure Net would have understood. Luckily way after 10pm I could get a signal that stayed on. Panic over and I quickly posted my card on the DT blog for Net to find. Phew, what a relief!!!!

But enough waffle. This is my baby card. I decided to make a pink one because even though I have pink, blue and even lilac in my box I need a pink one for my friends who have just become grandparents to a gorgeous baby gir and of course one for the proud parents their son and daughter-in-law and the big sister.

This is the inside which for once I've taken the time to decorate because I'm intending to enter the Gem of a Challenge. I've used their sketch and they also want us to decorate the inside.
I used:-
Image :- Pink Gem.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Flowers :- Prima.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers, Distress ink.
Nesties, Sakura clear gel pen and clear glitter gel pen.
The other challenge I would like to enter is Paperplay which is anything goes.
I hope you like! This is one of my favourite images for a baby card, that baby is so cute. I hope you can find time to leave me a little comment and that you'll want to pop over to Totally Gorjuss to see what gorgeous baby cards my talented teamies have made. I'm looking forward to visiting your blogs to see your baby cards too.
Enjoy your weekend.

Quixotic #33 Make it miniature.

Hi everyone I made this tiny little card last night for the Quixotic Paperie challenge. It sure is small, only 3 inches square! When I saw the challenge I wondered how I could make something small enough! Then I remembered that I'd bought a couple of Paper Makeup stamps from Quixotic Paperie a wee while ago. I think this lovely sentiment is just perfect for a baby gift card.

I used :-
Sentiment :- Paper Makeup.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Distress Ink in Spun Sugar for the edges.
Nesties, jewels, flower.
I'm quite pleased with this little gift card, I think it's quite cute and quick and easy to make.
I'm writing this on Sunday evening and scheduling it for Monday morning so I'd best do my ironing now. Lucky me I'm working full time for the next two weeks. Yuk. I wouldn't mind if I could do something useful when I'm standing in the post office with nothing to do! On Mondays I usually read the Sunday paper as well as the Monday papers lol!
Hope your week goes well whatever you're doing.

Uncle Bill's Birthday Card.

I've not really achieved much on my day off but at least I've got a card made for my lovely Uncle Bill's 90th birthday. Uncle Bill loves his golf so I wanted to do something golf orientated. Luckily I had Popcorn bear with his golf clubs. Unfortunately it is a very big stamp and I didn't have a big enough block. I did find something suitable eventually but the image is so big I struggled a bit wondering how to make a card especially since I thought I'd best make an A5 one. I don't usually make big cards unless it's for a very special occasion. Reckon this is a pretty special occasion though. I found a great sketch from Sketch Saturday which solved my layout problem. I stamped Popcorn 3 times so I could 3d him.

I used :-

Image and sentiment :- Popcorn Bear.

Colouring :- Promarkers and Distress Inks (for edges).

DP :- Craft Creations and Wild Rose Studio.

Buttons, string, ribbon and 90 peeloff from stash.

Challenges I'm entering :-

Sketch Saturday :- Sketch..........

Passion for Promarkers Think of a number.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out...for once. I took some pics and then realised that I'd forgotten to colour the grass lol! So I had to delete them and take more. Trust me. I've another three cards half made but I'd best check if there are any entries to comment on for my DTs and maybe have a wee look at my favourite blogs.

I'm a lot later sitting down tonight than I'd hoped. My daughter appeared for tea and to do her washing and then she wanted to make meringues so I had to "advise" her about that. I also had to wash the dishes. That might sound strange but I have a dishwasher and it's misbehaving. To say the least! My husband thought it was leaking so he hauled it out yesterday to check. It was! So he mopped up, found a wee hole in the hose and fixed it. Switched it on last night and nothing happened. So I had whole pile of washing this morning. The fridge-freezer in the kitchen has been leaking a bit now and then but he's convinced it was just ice so he removed a lot of ice from the bottom of it yesterday and fingers crossed it's ok. To complete his happiness yesterday he went into the garage and there was water all over the floor in front of the tumble drier!! Luckily it only needed emptied. I haven't been using it because the weather has been so nice but yesterday it rained so I put towels in it. Of course my daughter doesn't hang out washing because it wastes your clothes (???) and she uses the drier when she's out here washing. Silly me I should have remembered that it never occurs to her to empty the water out! At least I don't need a tumble drier or a fridge-freezer but Imight need a dishwasher. Fantastic!! I need to check out the sales.

Sorry to bore you girls especially since I should be doing something more useful lol.

I hope my Uncle Bill likes his card and I hope you like it too. If you could spare a minute to leave me a comment I'd be very grateful. I value the opinions of my fellow crafters. If I ask my husband he always says my cards are really nice! Which is nice of him but a bit biased don't you think?

See you all tomorrow I hope.

Just Cute Bears #22 Monochrome.

It's week 22 at Just Cute Bears and this week we'd like to see a monochrome card or layout. I sometimes struggle a bit with monochrome so this time I decided to keep it really simple and make a baby card.

I used :-
Image :- Forever Friends.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Colouring :- Distress Inks.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Pearls and ribbon from stash.
Nesties, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.
American Crafts precision pen for faux stitching.
I'm also entering some challenges with this card :-
Truly Scrumptious :- Sketch plus gingham or checks.
Crafty Creations :- It's a stitch up.
Crafty Cardmakers :- Male card - maybe I'm pushing my luck here!
Hope you can join us this week. And it would be great if you could find time to pop over to my talented teamies blogs to see what they've been making this week. You can find links to their blogs in my sidebar.
Looking forward to seeing all your lovely entries this week.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Just Cute Bears #14 Jane's Sketch

Oops I just found out a wee while ago that I had scheduled this post without actually writing anything! My internet was playing up the other night so I think I probably scheduled it and then couldn't get online to write it up. And then of course I forgot I hadn't done it. This is my second try tonight. I have already written it all up and then when I went to post it it couldn't do it and I was left with nothing but the pics. I'm sure anyone who saw my post before about 9pm probably thought I was nuts since all there was to see was 2 pics!

I've had a second day of scraping paper so I'm a bit tired (to say the least)! Lucky Mhairi, she had to go to work at 3.30 and left her Dad , brother and me to get on with it. At least by the time I finish work at 5.30 it's too late to go away in to Aberdeen to do anything. Roll on next weekend lol! Knowing my luck she'll have a day off on Thursday (like me) and I'll have to go shopping with her.

Anyway enough about my exciting weekend.

This week at Just Cute Bears we have a lovely sketch from my talented teamie Jane. Thanks Jane this is a great sketch to work with.

We are sponsored again by the ever generous Kim at Cuddly Buddly. If you have never visited Cuddly Buddly you really should pop over soon. They have lots of other goodies as well as their own lovely ranges of stamps plus digi stamps and download papers. Isn't this a little cutie?

This is my DT card this week. Hope you like it and please leave me a comment if you have time. I hope you can visit my talented teamies too and leave them a comment, they have made some gorgeous cards this week.

I used :-
Image :- Forever Friends.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Flowers :- Prima.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Flower brads and pearls from stash.
I'm looking forward to visiting your blogs and seeing how you've interpreted Jane's sketch. I love seeing what you've made every week you are all very talented crafters. I'm off to visit my teamies' blogs now, rather later than usual but I love to see what they've made. And of course it postpones having to get on with my ironing lol!

Baby Girl Card.

I think I may be jinxed. I've left this a bit late as usual and when I finished I took a couple of photos and put them on the laptop and then uploaded them to blogger and decided which of the two looked best. Neither was actually that good but it is evening! Then I realised that I hadn't added the 5 jewels I meant to put under the ribbon. So I've deleted the first photos and tried again.

Not sure if I'm too late for the Mojo Monday challenge or not but I liked the sketch and I need a baby card. This is handy because the Cupcake challenge is a baby card and the Cute Card Thursday challenge is New. The Sohisticat challenge is fancy borders and I have done a heart border and the Spoon Full of Sugar challenge is hearts. The ABC challenge is L for layering. Lastly the Papertake Weekly challenge is new beginnings. I think I am probably too late for some of these challenges but the card will do for a friend who has a new grand daughter.

I used some lovely DP from Craft Creations, which unfortunately does not photograph very well! The cute little image is from Stampendous and I coloured it with Promarkers. The lovely scalloped card is from Craftwork Cards and I cut the border with a Martha Stewart punch.
I'd best shoot off now and do my ironing as I suppose I need to go to work tomorrow. Hope you all had a lovely weekend. It seems to have passed very quickly. I don't suppose tomorrow at work will pass very quickly. I'm really keen to get in among my new stash but I've been too busy this weekend. I've had a look at the 2010 Hero Arts catalogue that I treated myself to. That may have been a mistake as I can see more stamps I would like lol!!
Take care in this snowy weather and keep safe and warm. Hope you can find time to tell me what you think of my efforts.
