Totally Gorjuss 54 Spooky.

Good morning everyone and I hope you're all enjoying a nice restful weekend. I am trying to catch up with some DT work as I'm going to the craft show at the SECC in Glasgow tomorrow. We have to catch the bus at 6.30am and we won't be back till after 9pm. A long day but very enjoyable. I'm looking forward to catching up with Kath and Lorraine at the Fiskars stand. My Simply Create teamie Debbi is also going for the first time and she will be demonstrating colouring with Promarkers on the Angel Crafts stand. I have never managed to meet Debbi yet so I'm looking forward to meeting her on Sunday.

Thanks to everyone who joined us last week at Totally Gorjuss for our "Sparkle" challenge. I'm sorry if I didn't get round everyone, I was up to date on Thursday but on Friday I had no Internet connection. This week our challenge is "Spooky" so we'd like to see your Halloween creations. We are sponsored by Wild Orchid Crafts so I'm sure you'd all like to win our lovely prize!

Thought I wasn't going to have this card made. First of all I couldn't find the image even though I had made a gift bag for Poppy recently. Found it eventually and then couldn't find my Halloween paper. Found it eventually and made card. I didn't take a photo but left it till morning. Almost ready to go to work when I realised I hadn't taken a photo so had to open the parcel! Foolishly I didn't post the photo on my blog then because in the evening I had no Internet. But I had a scheduled post that consisted of the first paragraph above!! I know the Internet was ok during the day because my daughter spent most of the day on her laptop trying to get tickets for her and her sister to see Take That in Glasgow next June. So that was a bit of a panic when I thought how silly this post would look. Anyway here's my card and I think I'll need to explain about it later as I have to wash my hair now and go to work. But this'll teach me to take a pic and post on my DT blog in plenty of time as you obviously can't trust your Internet connection!!

I used :- Image :- House Mouse.
DP :- MME.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Ribbon from stash.

I think I'd best come back after work and add the challenges I'm entering.
House Mouse :- Halloween.
Crafty Creations. :-  Halloween.
Daring Cardmakers :-Trick or Treat.

Thanks for looking and have a lovely weekend. If you'd like to comment on how daft I am please feel free!

Spooky Nights at Penny Black.

I made Halloween gift bags for Poppy and Oliver a wee while ago and couldn't resist making cards to go with them. This is Poppy's card.

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- Penny Black.
DP :- MME.
Colouring :-Promarkers.
The spiders are die cuts from the MME paper pack.
Jewels from stash.

Hope I can find some challenges to enter. I'm obviously too late for Friday Sketchers and Stampin for the weekend now.  I couldn't find my other stamp for days on end and even after I found it I realised I had no idea where my DP was. I should have made the card and then gone to the garden centre with my daughter.
Penny Black :- Spooky Nights.
Paperplay :- A Haunting We Will Go.
Creative Inspirations Challenge Blog :- Halloween.

I don't think this looks very scary. I'm sure Poppy won't be scared by it anyway! I'd love to hear what you think if you have a minute.

Pink!

Hi girls, I wanted to post this last night but I couldn't get a good photo so I waited till this morning. Not sure the photo is any better. But I had to work all day and then I was out this evening. So here it is now. I love pink so it was not really any hardship to make this card.

I used :-
Image :- Magnolia.
Sentiment :- Craftwork cards.
DP :- Crafty Creations and Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Pearls :- Hobby House.

I'd like to enter the following challenges :-
Passion for Promarkers :- Pink & White Christmas.
Just Magnolia :- Think Pink.
Allsorts :- Spots and Stripes.
Totally Tilda :- Pink and Pearls.

It's ages since I've used a Tilda. This is a great stamp as you can use it at any time of year not just Christmas. Hope you like and please leave me a comment if you have a minute to spare. Thanks for looking.

Vintage Christmas for Simply Create.

Surprise, surprise! Well me posting again today is a bit surprising. I've been quite industrious recently. I've done quite a lot with my Simply Create DT kit and I've still got loads left. I went to a crop after work yesterday but Mr Blogger had been so bad on Friday evening when I was trying to visit blogs, do DT commenting and upload photos for yesterday's and today's scheduled posts that I gave up in disgust. So I wasn't really in the mood to try to find stuff to take to the crop and ended up taking wool and knitting needles. I'm quite pleased because I managed to get about half of the back of Oliver's  jumper knitted.

But I'm waffling...again! My DT kit is vintage Christmas. Now anyone who knows me knows I don't do vintage anything never mind Christmas. So to say I'm not entirely happy with my cards is a bit of an understatement lol. But here it is. Does it look like a Christmas card to you? I'm just not sure at all.

The image is from a sheet full of images, all I had to do was cut it out and do a little matting. I think the DP is just perfect for the image and I finished with a sentiment from Craftwork cards and some pearls from the Hobby House.

I'm going to enter the following challenges :-
Papertake Weekly :- Sketch.
Charisma Cardz :- Vintage.

Just Cute Bears & Friends#38 Sketch.

Good morning girls and time for another challenge over at Just Cute Bears. First of all I should tell you that we have changed the format (and the name) and we are now Just Cute Bears and Friends. This means that as well as bears we are happy to see any cute animals on your cards and projects.

Thanks to everyone who joined us this last fortnight for our baby card challenge. I enjoyed seeing all your lovely baby cards. This week we have a lovely sketch to follow from our talented teamie Helen.

This is my take on Helen's sketch.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV.
Sentiment and card candy :- Craftwork Cards.
DP :- Dovecraft and Craftwork Cards.
Stickles, Martha Steward punch & ribbon.
Colouring :- Promarkers.

Since I've use the lovely James bear from LOTV I'm going to enter their challenge this week which is Winter Fun. Other challenges I'm entering are :-
Teddy Stampers :- Anything Goes.
Charmed Cards and Crafts :- A Christmas card.

Another Christmas card but I think I still have a long way to go lol! So if you want to take the chance to make a Christmas card too, or any other card of course, using Helen's great sketch why don't you join us. Remember you can now use any cute animal as well as bears and you have two weeks to enter.

Looking forward to seeing your take on our sketch this week. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Thanks for looking and if you like to leave me a comment I'll come and visit you too.

Totally Gorjuss 53 - Sparkle.

Good morning everyone. Hope the weather is better now than it has been for the past few days. But never mind it's the weekend and after a morning's work I'm going to a crop at my local craft shop.

Time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. Thanks to everyone who joined us last week for our pink challenge. I really enjoyed looking at all your cards and I hope you can join us this week for our Sparkle challenge. We all love sparkle so I'm sure you'll want to join us especially as we are sponsored by Crafter's Companion,

Here's my card, hope you like it.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV square,
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
DP :- MME.
Stickles, pearls, Martha Stewart punch and card candy.

I used the sketch from Cute Card Thursday  so I'll enter that challenge.

If you need more inspiration why don't you visit my talented teamies to see what they've made this week. You won't be disappointed. And if you have time to leave a comment I'd love to hear what you think and so would the rest of the girls.

Enjoy your weekend.

I've made a start to my 2nd DT kit from Simply Create.

When I got home from my babysitting session on Sunday my 2nd DT kit from Simply Create was waiting for me. I managed to make a start on it on Monday as I had cleverly managed to have a day off.

I was really scared when I saw my kit as I don't do vintage. At all. Ever!! So far I've made two cards and a little gift bag. I also have a book to alter and I've made a start on it. I've been prevaricating a bit because it has an aperture in the front cover and I'm rubbish with a craft knife.

Here's what I've made so far. I have a whole 12"x12" sheet of images plus lace, ribbon, buttons more 12"x12"s, plain card and buttons. I also have one sheet I have no idea what to do with and no stamps. Having no stamps phased me a bit but as you can see I've managed to use some of the images. I think I can probably use all the images but only one of the sheets of DP looks Christmassy to me. I do have more ideas so I'll see what else I can come up with.

The one on the right is the gift bag. Everything I've used is from my kit except the base card and the Merry Christmas and little snowflake stamps. But these are Hero Arts stamps and are available from Simply Create.

If you've got a minute to spare I'd love to hear what you think. If you leave anywhere near Alford you can already see the results of our first DT kit and I'm sure the makes from our 2nd kit will soon be on display there too.

Hope this isn't too young!

I came back from my babysitting session at my daughter's on Sunday and luckily had the day off yesterday to catch up with washing and ironing. Well I did wash but I managed to leave the ironing till today. I decided that yesterday I should try to make a card for my son's birthday and make a start on my latest DT kit from Simply Create.

Iain likes cars - massive understatement - he works in the service department of a big garage in Aberdeen. I can't really be surprised as my eldest brother is a motor engineer and my other brother was pretty good at fixing cars too. Not sure Iain'll appreciate the image on this card though since he'll be 34 on his birthday. Not sure how he can be that age. Just seems no time since he was a wee boy!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
DP :- Prima.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Buttons, string and ribbon from stash.

I should even manage to enter some challenges this week.
Penny Black :- Sketch.
Cards for Men :- Happy Birthday.
Cupcake :- Boys and their Toys.
One Stitch at a Time :- Embellish it - buttons and ribbon.

I made 2 cards and a little gift bag from my Simply Create kit last night and I've got something to alter so I'm going to try to do that tonight. But I'll post them all tomorrow.

Thanks for looking and if you have time to leave a comment I can come over and visit you too.

Crafty Cardmakers 32 - Use a Freebie.

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I have been away babysitting at my daughter's since Wednesday evening. We only actually had to babysit all day Thursday and Friday afternoon but since she lives about 2 and a half hours drive away we had to go on Wednesday. Yesterday we just spent some time with them although my hubby was roped into some gardening with Catriona while I stayed indoors with the kids. Today we stayed until Poppy came back from Sunday School and then gathered up our bags and the dog and came home. The dog is very quiet tonight! You can tell I'm writing this on Sunday evening and scheduling my post for Monday!!  She is used to Catriona's dog but had never met Catriona's in-laws Weimaraner before. She was only there till Friday afternoon so Maddy and Missy had the kids to themselves again. Oliver is only 11 months old but he loves dogs.

Anyway enough waffle, here is the card I made for Crafty Cardmakers latest challenge which is to use a freebie. I have used a stamp I got with Craft Stamper but you could also use freebie papers if you have any you got with a magazine. And of course you could use a free digi image.

I stamped my free flower stamp randomly on Kraft paper with Versamark and embossed with bright white embossing powder. I edged the Kraft paper with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. The blue DP is from Tim Holtz. I stamped again with Memento ink, coloured with Promarkers and cut out with a nestie. I added some blue organza ribbon across the middle and popped the image on top of it with sticky pads. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards as is the card candy. I also added some jewels from Hobby House and finished off with some blue flowers from my stash. I added some glitter with a Sakura clear glitter gel pen.

I followed the sketch over at Creative Inspirations Wednesday Challenge Blog so I'll enter that challenge this week.

Since I have a day off today to catch up with some washing and ironing I'm also hoping to be able to get some crafting done too. Hope you can join us this fortnight, I'm sure lots of you can find a freebie of some description. Looking forward to visiting your blogs and seeing what you've done with your freebies. If you need some inspiration pop over to the challenge blog at Crafty Cardmakers and see what my talented teamies have done with their freebies.

Totally Gorjuss 52 Pink.

Good morning everyone and as usual I'm trusting Mr Blogger to post this for me.  Usually I'm at work but this week I'm off babysitting at my daughter's. We went down on Wednesday night after work and I've been kept on my toes ever since. Catriona is on holiday now so we'll probably be home tonight or tomorrow and I've got a day off on Monday so hopefully I can catch up with all my DT work.

Anyway I'm lucky to have managed to make a card this week. I thought I had brought all the stuff I needed to make this card to my daughter's. No! When I looked at the sketch I was using I discovered that I needed three flowers at each side of the image. I had no flowers needless to say. If I'd noticed sooner I could have nipped out and bought some wool as I did have a crochet hook with me. Never mind I managed to improvise some flowers with my lovely pink velvet ricrac. Not sure if they look ok or even like flowers at all but I had to be inventive since this is a DT card and I had to get it made and posted in time.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV.
DP :- Tim Holtz.
Colouring :- Promarkers and Sakura clear glitter gel pen.
Nesties, pink velvet ricrac.
Pearls :- Hobby House.

I followed the sketch from Sketch and Stash so I'm hoping to enter the challenge there. Since I made these flowers I think I can also enter the challenge at ABC which is flowers.

Thanks to everyone who joined us last week and hope to see you again this week. We are sponsored by the lovely girls over at LOTV this week so it's definitely worth joining us this week. I can always find something new to buy every time I check out their webshop.

Enjoy your weekend and I'll catch up with you all later. Thanks for looking at my card and if you have time to let me know what you think I can pop over and visit you too.

By the way we have a DT call out just now so why don't you give it a go. We're a friendly DT and we love working with new people.

Halloween Gift Bags.

At the weekend I made a couple of little Halloween gift bags for Poppy and Oliver. I don't think they're really old enough for Halloween but I'm sure they'll like the chocolate buttons inside. I got the measurements from Splitcoast Stampers and they're really easy to make. I might even make more for Christmas.

I won some Halloween stuff from Lols a while ago  - thanks Lols you know how much I love House Mouse! My prize was the House Mouse stamp plus orange paper, black paper, ribbons, velvet brads and spooky felt shapes. I've just kept this quite simple as Poppy is nearly three and Oliver 11months so probably the sweeties are the main attraction.

One of the bags is made with a House Mouse image and the other with  Penny Black image. I love both images.

I used :-
Images :- House Mouse and Penny Black.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Martha Stewart punch.

I've found some Halloween challenges I'd like to enter :-
Simon Says Stamp :- Halloween.
Easy Craft Projects :- Halloween.
Fussy and Fancy :- Halloween.
Everybody Art :- Halloween.
Cupcake :- Scary Creatures.

Just a quick post as I need to get a start made on some DT work as I'm off babysitting at the end of the week and I don't think crafting and grandchildren mix very well. I'm hoping to get some commenting done and visiting my favourite blogs.

Thanks for looking and if you feel like leaving a quick comment that would be really nice.

What a cute baby hedgie.

Hi everyone, I nearly made a baby card for Just Cute Bears DT the other day till I realised I needed to use a bear. So since I had most of it prepared I made it anyway.

I used :-
Images :- Penny Black.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Nesties, Martha Stewart Punch.

I'm hoping to enter the following challenges :-
Penny Black :- Use 2 or more Penny Black images. I used 3 images plus a sentiment.
I meant to do the Papertake Weekly challenge and I did use one of their sketches but I was out at a quiz last night and didn't finish the card until this morning. Never mind it's a great sketch anyway. But I think I can enter this weeks challenge at Papertake Weekly which is 3 of a kind and I have 3 images and 3 large pearls.

Maybe I should go to work now!

Totally Gorjuss 51 Anything but a square.

Good morning girls, I hope you are all well. I'm fine if a bit scunnered (translation :- pretty fed up) as I've been working full-time all week and had hardly any time to craft. To crown it all it was my WRI meeting this week and my turn for the teas with another member. We had visitors from another WRI entertaining us so I wanted my baking to be as good as possible so I didn't get a showing up lol! I always get carried away when I start baking and end up making far too much. Just when I thought I'd lost a pound or too as well. Oh well somebody's got to eat it.

So I'll apologise in advance for a very simple quick card. I meant to make something a bit more complicated but time was against me. So here's my anything but a square card.

I used :-
Image :- House Mouse.
DP :- MME.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart punch
Label One Nesties.

I noticed that the challenge over at Stamp Something is Something Punchy and since I've used 2 different nesties plus a snowflake punch I'm going to enter this card.

Hope you like! My teamies have made some lovely cards this week so please pop over and see what they have made to inspire you. Thanks to everyone who joined us last week. I enjoyed seeing how you interpreted Net's sketch. This week we are sponsored by
Enjoy your weekend.

Crafty Cardmakers 31 Anything But a Square.

Doesn't time fly. Monday already and time for another challenge at Crafty Cardmakers. This time we would like your card to be anything but a square.

I decided to use my larges nesties to make a circular card. I'm still keen on making Christmas cards so here's another one. I work in the Post Office inside the village shop and there are about five teenagers who work after school and at the weekend so a little card like this is ideal for them

These little diddy cards are not actually any quicker to make than a normal size card as they can be quite fiddly and you have to make sure you use patterns  and images that are not too big!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
DP :- Basic Grey.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Nesties, stickles, Glamour Dust and ribbon.

I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday so I will be entering that challenge. And I see that the challenge over at Penny Black is "don't be square" so I'll enter there too.

I'm working full time all this week as my colleague is on holiday so I hope I can keep up with visiting your blogs to see what you've been making. My teamies have lovely cards on their blogs so please try to pop over and see what they've made to inspire you.

The last of my DT makes for Simply Create.

Hi everyone, I've been trying to upload these pics on the DT blog at Simply Create for ages and nasty old blogger wouldn't let me. Came over here and they loaded no bother....Grrr. I made these on Friday evening as I was going to Simply Create after work on Saturday to Kath's demo day. I knew that this sheet of DP was ideal for a layout but I've never done one before so I was a bit nervous. My original idea was pics of my grandkids. Then I changed my mind and decided to use pics of 2 of my kids. I knew what 2 photos I wanted to use but I could only find one of them and wasted nearly a whole day before giving up!

I couldn't find a decent photo of Poppy at Christmas but I had one that Catriona had given me ages ago. The trouble is it was a bit big compared to the other pics. So I took a photo of it, uploaded it to my laptop and printed all three.

I hope you can forgive my attempt at a layout. As you can see I'm not a scrapbooker lol!
The card and 2 scraplings are just simple and designed to show that you can make a simple card quite quickly if you have gorgeous materials. The sentiments are all Hero Arts and Jacqui has a fantastic selection of Hero Arts stamps. I'm not sure what to call the "image" on the scrapling on the left. Probably a flower I think. I cut one out with a nestie and then cut out the petals from another one and glued them on at the inside and popped them up on a foam pad at the outside edge for some dimension.

Jacqui has quite a lot of the DT's work on display at Simply Create now. If you've seen some of it on the blogs you will have seen how gorgeous it looks. I have to tell you that in real life it is even more gorgeous. The rest of the girls have made some stunning cards and other projects so if you live anywhere near it's definitely a good idea to pop in for some inspiration. Jacqui also has the cards that Kath made at her demo day yesterday and they are inspirational.

Well I'd best go and do my ironing now as I'm working full time for the next week. I've been baking today as I'm on teas at the WRI on Wednesday. I've had a couple of disasters so I think I'll need to bake again tomorrow night!

Totally Gorjuss 50 Sketch.

Good morning everyone and time for another challenge over at Totally Gorjuss. I can't believe we are at week 50 now! This week we have a lovely sketch for you to follow from our talented leader Net.

Great sketch isn't it. We don't mind if you want to flip it round to suit yourself. Just as long as we can see the original sketch in your work that's fine. So here's the card I made this week. I'm still trying to get some Christmas cards done and not be rushing at the last minute. Probably a vain hope!

I used :-
Image :- Sugar Nellies.
DP :- MME.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment and card candy :- Craftwork Cards.
MS punch, jewels and another small snowflake punch and ribbon.
Gel pen over boots.

There are some challenges that I'd like to enter with this card :-
Creative Inspirations Wednesday Challenge :- Christmas.
Charisma Cardz :- Christmas.

That's it then girls. I'm working this morning and then I'm off to Simply Create at Alford for Kath's demo. So I'll catch up with you all later. Thanks for looking and please try to check out what my teamies have made to inspire you this week too.
