What Do You Think?

I've been trying to make some things for my WRI show next week so I thought I'd get your opinion on my Victorian Style Christmas card. I borrowed this lovely stamp from a friend. I think he looks like a Victorian Santa. Not sure I've done him justice though!

I used :-
Image :- Stampendous.
DP :- GCD Studios.
Flowers and leaves :- Nellie Snellen punches.
Sentiment :- LOTV.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Glamour Dust.
Lace and ribbon from stash.

Isn't it funny how things turn out a different colour in a photo. The flowers and mats are actually a lovely pearlised dark red. The ribbon was quite bright so I darkened it with some Brushed Corduroy DI!//

Challenges :-
Stampin for the Weekend :- Use lace.
ABC Christmas :- D is for Designer Paper.
Christmas Card Challenges :- Anything Goes.
Crafty Ribbons :- Anything Goes with Ribbon.

But does this look like a Victorian style Christmas card  or is it just me that thinks that? It's a bit more elaborate than the cards I've been making recently. To say the least! I've spent ages making it but more than likely it's been a waste of time. What usually wins the handmade card category is the one that's made using bits popped out of a sheet and stuck on or bought toppers. Not one that's been completely made from scratch! Ok rant over lol! So that's two things completely finished now. This and a ladies hat. I'm hoping to finish my other knitting today and get on with a crocheted Christmas decoration.

Thanks for looking. As usual I'd be grateful for any comments you have time to leave.

I didn't want this stamp at first......

but you know what it's like.....you see it a few times and it kind of grows on you! I've only made a couple of cards with it so far. At the moment I'm obsessed with getting my cards finished so maybe early next year I'll try to do more with it. I'm in simple quick card mode so that I've got time to make my special family cards.

I used :-
Image :- Stampendous.
Colouring :- Distress Inks
Glamour Dust.
Red Stickles.
Stampendous embossing enamel in Aged Gold and Shabby White.
Ribbon.
I popped up the holly on sticky pads for a bit of dimension.

This is the second one. This time I popped up the central part of the image on sticky pads.

I think I've added too much of the Shabby White embossing enamel. What do you think?
Colouring and embossing as before.
Berries :- Liquid Pearls.
Lace and gold twine.

I'll try to catch up tonight after my Guild meeting, we're never late as some of the members are quite elderly. I'm on teas tonight and we'll probably be choosing what we want for our Christmas meal in a couple of weeks time. Looking forward to it!

So thanks for looking and if you want to leave me a comment  please do, don't be shy.

Totally Gorjuss 157 - Pastel Christmas.

Good morning everyone and since we're getting ever closer to Christmas and I'm up to my ears in Christmas cards this challenge is right up my street. Hopefully lots of you will find it useful too and join us this week. This week we're sponsored by Crafter's Companion. They've usually got some good offers so it wouldn't be difficult to spend your prize voucher.

I had an idea for a quick card. Well it had to be a quick card because I was rather late getting round to making it. I've lost two evening this week to meetings and was out all day meeting my friend. She lives in Lanarkshire and I'm in Aberdeenshire so we decided to meet at Dobbies in Perth. Unfortunately the traffic in Aberdeen was horrendous so I had to text her from Dundee to say I was running half an hour late! I was lucky it was only half an hour as when I reached Aberdeen I sat in a queue for 45 minutes to go about half a mile. Altogether to get through Aberdeen took about an hour and twenty minutes. This is ridiculous as at a quieter time of day it takes an awful lot less time. All I can say is that the clowns who object to the Aberdeen city bypass don't have to drive through Aberdeen!!

Anyway enough waffle. Here's my card and it's not a very good one from me this week. Luckily my talented teamies have made gorgeous cards to inspire you.

I used :-
Spellbinders 2012 Holiday Tree.
Sentiment :- Cheery Lynn.
Tree and sentiment embossed with Stampendous shabby white embossing enamel.

It was really fiddly trying to heat the embossing enamel. I put the tree and the sentiment on a sheet of paper and heated from underneath. The paper got a wee bit singed but the embossing worked!

Thanks for looking and if I find any challenges to enter I'll come back later and add them.

Witches and Broomsticks.......!!

Hi everyone, as you can guess this post is to show you my Halloween makes. I managed to get them made yesterday as I really needed to post them today. Then I had to get a passport photo done. I'd rather go to the dentist than have a photo taken but needs must!!

This is what I made for Poppy, managing to use her favourite colour, green. I can take absolutely no credit for the treat bag as my friend showed me how to make it. She also stamped me a couple of witches as I thought Poppy might like a witch. Unfortunately I don't know what the make of the stamp is so if anyone knows.....?

DP :- MME.
Sentiment :- Penny Black.
Image :- Magnolia (card), ? (treat bag)
Colouring :- Distress Markers - bag, Promarkers - card.
Glitter markers on card :- Spica glitter gel pen.
Candi, Stampendous aged black embossing enamel.

And this is Oliver's bag and card.

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- Penny Black.
DP, Promarkers, embossing enamel and Candi as above.

I sent Catriona a text to say that I'd posted the parcel and if the children didn't like the sweeties she might have to eat them. She says I've got her wrong but I know what a sweet tooth she has, like me! The little spider sweeties are just chocolate but the eyeballs and brains have popping candy in them!

Well I'm off to try to do some catching up now. So much for my day off. I've achieved nothing apart from making a pot of soup and some stew. And the photos!!! I'm off out to the Guild in an hour to hear about a trip to China. Should be interesting.

Yesterday we were very lucky to have a guest preacher at my church. The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland was preaching as part of the celebrations of 1,000 years of churches in our parish. We were joined by members and clergy from the Congregational and Scottish Episcopal churches in the parish. Afterward we had a buffet in the church hall and the opportunity to have a chat. There was also a celebratory cake donated by a local baker. I think people will still be talking about this tonight. The Moderator is a very enthusiastic and charismatic man and I think everyone was impressed by him.

Thanks for looking and we're not usually late at the Guild so I might manage to do some more catching up.

Oops now it's Tuesday evening and I forgot to add the challenges I was going to enter! I've already had to change my mind about one as it's finished already.

Penny Black :- Sketch. Second card.
Creative Inspirations :- Happy Halloween. First card.
Crafty Creations :- Halloween Spooks. Second card
Cute Card Thursday :- Something Scary. First card.
Charisma :- Don't be square. First treat bag.
Totally Papercrafts :- Spooky Halloween. First treat bag.
Cupcake :- Witches or Pumpkins. First card.
Created with Love :- Happy Halloween. Treat bags.

Hope I've got this ok now!

I heard from Catriona this morning and the parcel has arrived and she's trying to stop Oliver from eating everything! He loves chocolate and he thinks the popping candy sweets are funny lol.

Monochrome.

I'm a bit breathless here! I don't think I've ever made such a quick card!! I really wanted to enter the Charisma Cardz challenge and combine it with Penny Black. But I couldn't make my mind up what image to use. So I decided not to bother.....until I came up with this idea. Couldn't find a sketch to fit the image and one I could do quickly so I just threw this together.

DP :- Craftshouse.
Image :- Stampendous.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Also used divine swirls folder on Whitewash core'dinations.
Nesties.
Ribbon from stash.
Card :- Craftwork Cards.
I hope this makes some sort of sense cos I'm trying to type without my glasses! Lucky I can touch type lol!

Stamptacular Sunday 19

I made this card for the Stamptacular Sunday challenge. This was three brads, two DPs and one flower. This seemed quite easy till I couldn't make up my mind what DP to use or what image!! Never mind once I had made up my mind it was quite simple. She says!!! I used this simple image from Stampendous and in spite of the fact it looks as if I stamped it on white card it is actually stamped on creamy card a little lighter than the light DP. The DP is DCWV Latte stack which is lovely. Ribbon, flower, brads, spacers and jewel from my stash. I hope I am in time to enter the challenge as when I looked at it again I realised entries had to be in by midnight tonight but not UK time.
I wasn't sure if I would like this card but now that I've finished it I quite like it lol.

Thanks for looking and it would be nice to hear what you think.
