Just Magnolia 38.

Good afternoon and I hope everyone is managing to keep going in spite of all this snow. It is still very nasty here in Aberdeenshire. I spent ages getting the snow off my car this morning and struggled over to work. I must be daft because I only need to go into work for about 10 minutes to finish off the weekly balance in the post office after the lottery payments and prizes are sorted out when the shop closes on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't easy to get out of our drive and down the farm track to the tar road but I made it. After that it is only a mile or so to the main Aberdeen to Peterhead road but it is very narrow at the best of times and even more so when there is drifted snow! Road was nasty but not any worse than previously. The main road was not even very good but it was busy. So I did what I had to do, got my paper and milk and headed for home. And got stuck!!!! From the main road it is quite a steep little hill and off course you have a right angled turn from clearish road onto snow and ice. So you have to slow right down. Of course this is not ideal when you need a bit of speed to get up the hill. I got so far and then that was it, reversed back but got stuck. Got out my shovel but no use as the road was pure ice. So trudged up the hill and found the farmer who said he would pull me up the hill. Went back down to the car and then along came our neighbours' son on his tractor. So then the farmer at the main road came down on his Manitou loader, put a rope on and in seconds I was up the hill on the level beside his house. Home from there no problem but really embarassed. Before that I thought about nipping to Tesco as it was quite a nice morning. Banish that thought......I was too worried about getting stuck on the same hill. I won't say how long I have been driving in all sorts off conditions but this is the first year I have got stuck and twice in the same week too!!!

My daughter has gone out with the dog and the snow has come on again and quite heavy by the look of the amount that has landed on the Velux window I can see from where I am sitting. She will not be chuffed.....to say the least.

But enough of me waffling because I know that very many of us are in the same position and at least we have food and electricity and oil for our heating. (as long as the oil lasts!) I have made this card with the lovely Tilda with present. I love this image and used her at Christmas too. I think you could easily use her for birthdays too because there is no specific Christmas element about her. I coloured her with Promarkers and also used them to edge the flowers. I think I may have gone too far with the flowers, maybe I should have left it at just edging them! The DP is the lovely Basic Grey Wassail but these particular papers do not look Christmassy so I could use this for a birthday card or put it past for next Christmas. I would have liked a dark red ribbon but could only find a really narrow one so I used this lovely shimmery, sparkly white one instead.

Now I think I deserve a wee coffee and a Kit Kat before I think about another card. I should also think about my chicken curry for tea. I made lentil soup on the spur of the moment yesterday afternoon so my daughter and I had that at lunchtime. I seem to make soup all the time in the winter. I'm a bit of a spur of the moment soup maker. I usually think what have I got and chuck it in a pot. I'll try making soup with any kind of veg! I need to do a card for Friday Sketchers since I got round to doing their blog hop. And of course I still have to make my Totally Gorjuss DT card.

Nearly forgot I should say that the point of this post was to show you the card.........which I have done and it is for the Just Magnolia challenge.

Hope to be back later with another card.

Kat xx
