Christmas in May.

Hi everyone, looks like I'm still not very good at posting even with 2 days off in the same week. At least I have something to show you as well as a DT card. I've been quite good this week. Usually I'm trying to make my DT card and get it posted on the DT blog by Thursday. This week it was all done and dusted on Monday. Net got such a shock she nearly fainted. She said she was only kidding!!

So yesterday I decided to make a Christmas card when my friend came over to craft and I even made another one later. We both used the same stamp which is one of her favourite Penny Black ones.

Here's the first one I made.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment and card candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Embossing olders :- Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Sizzix Tim Holtz Snow Flurries.
Jewels from stash and Glamour Dust.

And this is the second one, also very simple.

I used :-
Image, colouring, card candy, sentiment and Glamour Dust as before.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart.

These are the challenges for the first card :-
Creative Inspirations Wednesday Challenge :- Embossing.
One Stitch at a Time :- Embossing.
Cupcake :- C for Christmas.

I'd like to enter the following challenges with the second card:-
A Spoon Full of Sugar :- White plus one colour.
Cards for Men :- Circles.

Hope you like! I've not really achieved much today. Can't even blame the weather as it's not been so nice today. We have had some sun but much hazier than it has been and quite a cold wind. At least it's still dry. We're promised rain today but so far it hasn't come. I'm off to take the dogs for yet another walk before I have tea and go to my friend's to make cards. A few of us go and we always have a lovely chat too. It's nice to be able to socialise as well as make cards.

Soon be the weekend!

Totally Gorjuss 68 Check it out.

Hi everyone, doesn't Saturday come round really quickly every week. Pity there weren't more Saturdays and  Sundays in a week. Probably not that good an idea I suppose.  After all lots of people have to work at the weekend. I work almost every Saturday, but at least it's just the morning.

So it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. You seemed to like our "Love" challenge last week. We  had lots of entries and saw some amazing cards when I visited your blogs. If you haven't been over to the challenge blog yet remember to pop over to see who's won the prize from Crafter's Companion.

This week we are sponsored by Simon Says Stamp and I'm sure you know that they have a vast stock of goodies. If you haven't checked out their online shop yet you don't know what you've been missing.

Well this week our challenge is "Check it out." We'd like to see checks somewhere on your card or project. It could be DP, ribbon, whatever you like. I love checks and ginghams so I enjoyed this challenge.

Here's my card.

I made this for my son-in-law who's in car sales. And no he's not a dodgy salesman lol! He's a hard working honest guy who wouldn't sell you a bad car. Funnily enough my daughter was in car sales too and that's how they met. She has a different job now close to home as it's easier for her with two kiddies.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute square.
DP :- Wild Rose Studio and Craft Creations.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Bakers' Twine :- The Ribbon Girl.
Ribbon and button from stash.

It was a bit lazy of me to use a cute square as I have this image in rubber too but I've had a lot  to do this week. Some days the pups are quite time consuming! And I had to go off to Aberdeen and get a present for my son-in-law. His birthday is next week and my husband is the day after. Not sure what he's getting, maybe some new jeans that actually fit him! Mmmm like I've got space to talk.

I'd like to enter the following challenges :-
Sketch and Stash :- Sketch and the Bakers' Twine is new stash.
Lili of the Valley :- Red & blue are my favourite colours for male cards.
Cards for Men :- 1 image, 2 DP & 3 embellishments (1 ribbon, 1 button and Bakers' twine.
Pile it on :- For the love of plaid.

Hope you like and maybe you could spare a minute to tell me what you think. Do take a minute to pop over to the blog and see the gorgeous work  from my teamies this week.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all later.

Hope this isn't too young!

I came back from my babysitting session at my daughter's on Sunday and luckily had the day off yesterday to catch up with washing and ironing. Well I did wash but I managed to leave the ironing till today. I decided that yesterday I should try to make a card for my son's birthday and make a start on my latest DT kit from Simply Create.

Iain likes cars - massive understatement - he works in the service department of a big garage in Aberdeen. I can't really be surprised as my eldest brother is a motor engineer and my other brother was pretty good at fixing cars too. Not sure Iain'll appreciate the image on this card though since he'll be 34 on his birthday. Not sure how he can be that age. Just seems no time since he was a wee boy!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
DP :- Prima.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Buttons, string and ribbon from stash.

I should even manage to enter some challenges this week.
Penny Black :- Sketch.
Cards for Men :- Happy Birthday.
Cupcake :- Boys and their Toys.
One Stitch at a Time :- Embellish it - buttons and ribbon.

I made 2 cards and a little gift bag from my Simply Create kit last night and I've got something to alter so I'm going to try to do that tonight. But I'll post them all tomorrow.

Thanks for looking and if you have time to leave a comment I can come over and visit you too.

One for the Boys.

This is unusual for me! Two posts on a Saturday. I made this card on Wednesday but this is the first chance I've had to post it. Wednesday was the first of our meetings at the WRI for this session. I was really late home because we were discussing what items we'd like for our mini show next March. We usually have bulbs, handcrafts, baking and produce. To crown it all we had to discuss the co-operative entry for another show involving the 9 WRIs in our area. Plus I've been trying to catch up with DT cards and commenting and visiting my favourite blogs. Not sure that I've been very successful with my visiting though lol!

This is just a simple card I made with my friend. She's been asked by the rest of the staff in the chemist's where she works to make a card for one of the local doctors who's retiring soon. I thought this image and sentiment would be suitable. What do you think?

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- LOTV.
DP :- Wild Rose Studio.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.
I've kept it fairly simple. I think men prefer simple lol! And I'm going to enter the following challenges :-
Lili of the Valley :- One for the boys.
Cards for Men :- Long Summer Days.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

Thanks for any kind comments you might have time to leave.

Adventure Time!

At last I've managed to make a card that's just for some challenges! I thought it would be nice to make a simple male card for a change. So this is what I ended up with.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV.
DP :- Wild Rose Studios.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Card Candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Button, string and tag from stash.
I am entering the following challenges :-
Friday Sketchers :- Sketch.
Secret Crafter :- Man's World.
Allsorts :- Use primary colours - I used red and blue.
Cards for men :- Off on an adventure.
Papertake Weekly :- Old, new, borrowed, blue - new stamp and blue.
Simon Says Stamp challenge :-Summertime blues.
Everybody Art challenge :- Check it out.
I really enjoyed making this card. It's nice to make a simple card for a change. I really should make the effort to make more male cards but sometimes you get bogged down trying to get your DT work done and nothing else. Tomorrow is my day off and I'm meaning to get my DT cards made then.
Today was the day when the post office I work in was starting the process of going online. All seems to have gone well so far and tomorrow morning we will be working online with a totally new screen layout and way of working. I only have to go in for a short time to finish the lottery figures and then my colleague will get first shot of the new system. The chap who came to help us to "migrate" as it is called will stay with her for an hour or so and we have a sign to put up so that people will understand why we might be a bit slower than normal for a day or two. I'm quite glad that when I go in on Friday I'll be working on my own.
I hope you can find time to leave me a wee comment about my card so I know if I'm doing the right thing.
