Totally Gorjuss 177 - Something Blue.

Well guess who's got no Internet connection! We think the neighbouring farmer must have pulled up our line when he ripped out a fence near our house. Just spoke to Post Office telephones and it's to be fixed by Tuesday. Couldn't have happened at a worse time!

This week at Totally Gorjuss our challenge is "Something Blue", we'd like to see lots of blue on your card or project. This is what I came up with. Sorry about the quality of the photo. It's not easy to take a photo with an iPad!

I used :-
Image :- Bugaboo digi image. Bugaboo is one of our sponsors this week along with Quixotic
DP :- LOTV.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Snowflake :- Spellbinders.
Colouring : Promarkers.
Ribbon from stash.
Glamour Dust.

I've even managed to add links even though I'm not used to using my IPad and Blogpress to write my posts. It's going to be a long few days till my laptop's in use again. Can't figure out how to schedule this post or even if you can so I'll just have to do it I the morning. I'm just happy to get it written and even have a photo in it!

Thanks for looking and your lovely comments. I'll catch up later.

Just a quick hello!

I'll have to be quick as I haven't had my lunch yet and I'm working this afternoon.

I made a quick card yesterday after I did my DT card for Saturday. At least it would have been quick if I hadn't dropped a stamp on my card. And yes, it was inky. I don't think my photo disguises the fact that the sentiment could be straighter. By that time I needed to walk dogs, finish making tea, make hubby's sandwiches, eat tea and get ready to go out. So I wasn't in the mood to make another one.

I used :
Flower from Fabulous Florets, border from Summer Silhouettes and sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments all from Stampin' Up!
Stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Gumball Green also from Stampin' Up!

I used the lovely sketch from Connie and Mary so I'm entering their challenge for the first time.

I hear two dogs wanting out to play in the sunshine so I'll stop now and catch you all later.

Thanks for looking and for any comments you leave. I always appreciate you taking the time to tell me what you think.

Looks like Mousie's a bit sleepy after eating all the chocolate lol!

I thought Poppy would like this card. It's more girly than the one I blogged yesterday.

I used :-
Image :- House Mouse.
Sentiment :- Penny Black inked with Wisteria Wonder SU marker.
Embossed panel :- SU Honeycomb.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Rhinestones :- Hobby House.
Ribbon from stash and Sakura clear, glitter gel pen.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Oldie but a Goodie :- Easter.
Creative Inspirations :- Spring Colours.
Stampin' for the Weekend :- Child's Play.
House Mouse :- Easter.
Created with Love :- Easter, all things that glitter.
Cute Card Thursday :- Easter Parade.

Hope you likey and please tell me what you think if you have a minute. I love to hear what you think and even better I love to visit other blogs. So if you leave me a comment I'll be able to visit you too.

Catch up later after work.

This Easter Egg looks yummy!

Saturday was a crop at my local craft shop and I decided I would take some bits and pieces to make Easter cards for Poppy and Oliver. We went to a Soup & Sweet lunch in aid of our village hall first. It was really well supported in spite of an incredibly cold day. I had yummy tattie (potato) soup and strawberry pavlova. Maybe this is why I had no notion of making a card when I got to the crop. So I did some knitting which I had taken as a fall back. After a wee while I decided to make a start on Oliver's card. Unfortunately when I looked at my coloured image it didn't look right (to me) beside the backing card and ribbon. The blue was wrong! I'm a bit picky about colours being right! So I went back to my knitting. When I got home I did make Oliver's card and one for Poppy. I also finished some packaging for their Easter present. So here's Oliver's card.

I used :-
Image :- Stampendous.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Card Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Cuttlebug embossing folder and ribbon.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Cards 4 Men :- Easter.
Simon Says Stamp :-Easter/Spring.
Totally Papercrafts :- Easter Eggstravaganza.
Addicted to CAS :- Spring.
Pile it On :- Dots. I hope card candi and embossed dots count!

This is a really nice little set of stamps. I think I used the one with a chick juggling Easter eggs for Oliver's card last year.

Thanks for looking and hope you have time to leave me a wee comment. I really appreciate every comment you leave. Besides I love to visit other people and see what they've been making.

Yummy Bunnies.

I'm a bit late with this post. I seem to have spent my time before making tea catching up with my favourite blogs and challenges. I'll make this short because I still have my ironing to do!

I can't take any credit for these bunnies at all as someone more talented than me had the idea of making one and worked out how to make them.

At the crop last month one of my friends was making bunnies to hold Easter Eggs. She had found them in a magazine. I don't know which magazine but I'm sure some of you will recognise them. My friend who comes to mine every Wednesday bought the magazine and decided to make some too. So I thought why not? Neither of us fancied cutting out the bits with a knife so we used dies. She lent me her Sizzix ones for the ears and feet as my oval nesties are fatter than her Sizzix ovals. The teeth and nose are little hearts that I cut with a Memory Box die. The whiskers are fine string that my friend stiffened. I think the bunny on the right must have rubbed his nose before I took the photo as his whiskers look a bit odd!

The ones in the magazine look quite cute but I think mine have a kind of "caught in the headlights" look!! Still I don't suppose Poppy and Oliver will mind. After all there's chocolate eggs inside them.

I'm entering the challenge at Papertake Weekly which is Easter Treats.

Thanks for looking and for any comments you leave. I think I'll go off and so some DT work now before I do my ironing.

Totally Gorjuss 176 - Something Borrowed.

Good morning everyone, I hope you're going to join our challenge at Totally Gorjuss where our theme this week is "something borrowed." This could be an idea borrowed from someone else, something borrowed from another craft or another person. I'm sure you can think of something and if you pop over to Totally Gorjussyou can see all the "borrowed" ideas my talented teamies have come up with. We're sponsored by The Ribbon Girl this week, wish I could enter. I don't know about you but I can always find something I want in their online store!

Back to a simple card again this week.

I used a few Stampin' Up! goodies this week. The card and the ink are Wisteria Wonder. The border is SU textured impressions Adorning Accents. The larger heart is cut out with a  Hearts a Flutter framelit and I added a small Hearts a Flutter image popped up on foam squares for a bit of dimension in the opening. The sentiment is a Hero Arts wooden stamp I've had for ages. Not sure if the ribbon came from the Ribbon Girl or my local shop.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Freshly Made Sketches :- Sketch. I hope this fits!

As usual this morning I'll be at work, lucky me! Then I'm going to a crop at my local craft shop in the afternoon. But before that my friend and I are going to have our lunch at a "soup and sweet" in the village hall. At the time of writing - late Friday evening - I have no idea what I'm doing at the crop. I need to make Easter cards for Poppy and Oliver so I'll need to try and get some bits and pieces together for that. The shop  changed hands at the beginning of the month and I haven't managed to get there till now so I'm looking forward to seeing some new goodies.

Thanks for looking and I appreciate it when you leave me a comment.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope none of you are badly affected by snow. We've been really lucky here so fingers crossed we don't get any more.

I'm Shattered!!

Meant to do this sooner but I got distracted visiting my favourite blogs! I made this card when I was crafting with my friend yesterday. I also made a bunny to hold Easter eggs for one of the grandkids. I have another one ready to put together so I'll show you them when they're finished. My friend found the templates and instructions in a magazine and she's made some already.

So here's the card. I'm quite early as it's for my (great) nephew's birthday in a few weeks time.

I stamped the Papermania image in Stampin' Up! Midnight Muse ink. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!'s Bitty Banners and cut out with a SU Bitty Banners Framelits die. I added some twine from the Ribbon Girl a key charm and tag made using the SU Jewelry Tag punch.

Hope Donald likes it. I think it's probably plain enough for a 21 year old lad!

I think this card fits the following challenges :-

Creative Card Crew :- Masculine.
Charisma :- Die Cuts.
Penny Black and More at Allsorts :- One for the boys
Crafty Ribbons :- One for the boys.
ABC :- J for Just as you like.

I've had a really busy day today! This was my day to help at Messy Church. We meet every third Thursday in the month. Our parish church serves two villages and so far we have met in the village further from me. Today we met in the village where I work. The layout was rather different as we used the two rooms downstairs as they are next to the kitchen rather than the main hall. This made it feel really busy. I think we did actually have more children. The mums from that village who don't drive/don't have the use of a car were able to join us but on the other hand some from the other village weren't able to come. I was supposed to be decorating egg people with the children. By the time I boiled 28 eggs and found all the bits and pieces to decorate them and made three samples it was nearly time to set off. Unluckily two eggs cracked in the pot and I dropped two in the sink. So we must have had 21 children making egg people. I felt really bad when one little boy came over with his Mum when the eggs were all gone. Luckily his sister had made one earlier so at least they had one to take home. I think the children really enjoyed decorating the eggs and they were incredibly inventive lol!

I spent the last half hour throwing unwanted stamps into a bag for the charity shop. There's nothing wrong with them but some of them have been in a drawer for years and never seen ink so I just decided enough was enough they'd probably never be used now. I have lots of other things I'm going to throw out. I can also use lots of stuff at Messy Church.

Now I'm off to catch up with my DT work and see if I can get some crafting done.

Thanks for looking and I really appreciate your lovely comments.

Totally Gorjuss 175 - Something Old!

Hi everyone, Saturday again already. This week hasn't been as busy as last week but still quite busy. Hopefully next week will be more normal, if there is such a thing!

But as usual on a Saturday morning I have a card to show you that I've made for Totally Gorjuss. This week our theme is something old. I've chosen to use one of my older stamps but you could use an image of someone old or make a card for someone old or use some old stash. It's up to you how you interpret the challenge. It'll be interesting to see what everyone does.

Image :- Gorguss Girl from Sugar Nellies.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
DP :- LOTV.
Flowers :- Prima.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Flourish :- Sizzix.
Pearls:-  Hobby House.
Brad :- Doodlebug Design.

Isn't she lovely? And she was so easy to colour. It's ages since I used a Gorjuss Girl. Takes me back to when the Totally Gorjuss challenge started at first lol!

I'm also entering the following challenges :-
Cute Card Thursday :- Anything Goes.
In the Pink :- Floral/Mothers' Day.
Fussy and Fancy :-Flowers.
Sugar Bowl :- Anything Goes.
By the Cute and Girly :- Favourite Things. Gorjuss Girl, Promarkers and I love the Whimsy corner.
Bunny Zoe :- Girly.

That's all for now girls. I'll have to catch up later, probably this evening as I have to travel to Crieff after work. It takes over 3 hours to get there. Well you have to stop for a coffee, don't you?

Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated. Have a lovely weekend.

Recent Makes - Not Cards!!

Since I haven't done much else recently I thought I'd show you a couple of the things I made for the recent WRI show.

I had 14 entries for the show last Saturday and even managed to get some tickets. My green plant was 1st. It's a really nice healthy plant but a bit of a pest to transport. My cherry loaf was second. Now that was a real surprise as there are some fantastic bakers in the 9 WRIs that take part so I was pretty chuffed. I also got highly commended for my child's apron and crochet Christmas decoration in 20 cotton (quite fine!) I also got commended for my knitted ladies' hat.  At our own show my child's v-neck slipover was first and also got the special prize in Handcrafts. The plant was first again. My decorated candle was 2nd and my oven baked oatcakes, Anzac biscuits and cherry loaf were all 3rd I think. My cheese straws were either 2nd or 3rd! The candle and cheese straws were two of the things I didn't get done for the Saturday show. The candle because I messed up the first one I tried (the very first one I ever tried!) and the cheese straws because by the time I'd finished the rest of the baking I'd had enough!

This is Poppy's apron! Really difficult to see the pockets but I think you might just see them. I'd have liked to have done the neck strap, ties and pockets in a contrast but the only one they had was blue with white spots and the blue was completely different. The material is Kath Kidston and quite expensive but you wouldn't believe how bad it was for fraying. The pattern didn't say to finish off the pockets on the wrong side but I could hear my Mum saying finish off the raw edges - so I did! I was also very careful about pressing seams etc as I could hear that too lol!

This is my decorated candle. I didn't have it done for Saturday as I heated it too much and the wax melted. I managed to get some on my trousers but I got it off luckily with an iron and some brown paper! I read that you need to heat up your heat gun first so I tried that and it worked. I should have made sure I knew what to do before I started!!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Lace :- Ribbon Girl.

I'm going to enter the candle at Hotshot Crafts where the challenge is anything but a card.

And I couldn't resist showing you my cheese straws. Not because they're good just because I think they look cute.

I did mean to show you my child's v-nck slipover but I forgot to take a photo and I left it with one of my WRI friends who'll pass on all our jumpers to a lady who sends them overseas. Just imagine a little red slipover lol!

I probably don't need to tell you that my Victorian style Christmas card came nowhere in the competition on Saturday. My friend and I both made cards completely from scratch and we're both sure that ours were Victorian style. We're still trying to figure out what was Victorian about the cards that were placed and commended lol!

Well since I've achieved nothing today, well unless you count giving blood this morning! I've also ordered some stuff I need for the kids to decorate boiled eggs at Messy Church next week.

Almost time for a yummy lamb curry now, made with real genuine lamb lol!! I know this because I made it. My evening out is cancelled now so after two evenings out in a row this week I can get some crafting done and if I'm lucky even some blogging.

Thanks for looking and I really appreciate your lovely comments.

At Last!

Feels like ages since I managed to post anything. I even had to apologise to the rest of the DT for not managing to make a card for Totally Gorjuss. Last week I was so busy making and baking for our local WRI show that I hardly even had time to go online. Not sure this week's going to be much better! Tomorrow evening I'm going to a quiz night at another WRI, Wednesday evening is our own meeting and it's our mini bulb show. Luckily I have most of the items I need except cheese straws. Thursday morning I'm going to give blood and out to a friend's house in the evening to craft. Phew where did the week go. I'm tired just thinking about it.

Anyway enough waffle, here's a quick and simple card I made this evening.

I used :-
Images :- Inkadinkado.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
I stamped the dog in SU Pool Party, masked his head and stamped the bone in Summer Starfruit.

Challenges :-
Less is More :- Spots and stripes.
Addicted to Stamps and More :- CAS.
CAS on Sunday :- Happy Birthday.

I hate to think how long I've had this stamp and this is the first time it's seen ink!

I think that's me for the day now. I seem to have pottered about all day and achieved nothing. Well I did do a bit of tidying during the day and experimented with cutting out some stuff on my Cricut.

Thanks for looking and I really appreciate the comments you leave me.

What Do You Think?

I've been trying to make some things for my WRI show next week so I thought I'd get your opinion on my Victorian Style Christmas card. I borrowed this lovely stamp from a friend. I think he looks like a Victorian Santa. Not sure I've done him justice though!

I used :-
Image :- Stampendous.
DP :- GCD Studios.
Flowers and leaves :- Nellie Snellen punches.
Sentiment :- LOTV.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Corners :- Whimsy.
Glamour Dust.
Lace and ribbon from stash.

Isn't it funny how things turn out a different colour in a photo. The flowers and mats are actually a lovely pearlised dark red. The ribbon was quite bright so I darkened it with some Brushed Corduroy DI!//

Challenges :-
Stampin for the Weekend :- Use lace.
ABC Christmas :- D is for Designer Paper.
Christmas Card Challenges :- Anything Goes.
Crafty Ribbons :- Anything Goes with Ribbon.

But does this look like a Victorian style Christmas card  or is it just me that thinks that? It's a bit more elaborate than the cards I've been making recently. To say the least! I've spent ages making it but more than likely it's been a waste of time. What usually wins the handmade card category is the one that's made using bits popped out of a sheet and stuck on or bought toppers. Not one that's been completely made from scratch! Ok rant over lol! So that's two things completely finished now. This and a ladies hat. I'm hoping to finish my other knitting today and get on with a crocheted Christmas decoration.

Thanks for looking. As usual I'd be grateful for any comments you have time to leave.

Totally Gorjuss 173 - Anything Goes plus Pink.

Good morning everyone, hope everyone is ready to enjoy the weekend. I really look forward to having a day and a half without work. I'll need to be busy though as it's just a week till my WRI group show. Needless to say I'm not organised - as usual. So no surprise there then lol!

But it's time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week our theme is "Anything Goes plus Pink." Now I realise that everyone doesn't like pink but lots of you do so you could make a "pink" card for lots of different occasions. Birthdays, Get Well, Mothers' Day, New Baby. So even if you don't like pink you might need to make a card for someone who does lol! We're sponsored by the generous people at J&C Creations this week so please try to join us. Yet again I've made a very simple card. Took me a while though while I faffed about trying to decide what image to use, what colour of pink, whether to use DP or white embossing or coloured embossing!

I used :-
Image :- Hero Arts cut out with Sizzix die from HA/Sizzix set.
Embossing folders :- Cuttlebug.
Colouring :- Stampin' Up! markers.
Sentiment :- Stampin' Up!
Pearls :- Hobby House.

Challenges :-
CAS(E)this sketch. :- Sketch.

Simon Says Stamp :- Anything Goes.
Addicted to Stamps and More :- Anything Goes but must include stamping.
The Pink Elephant :- Anything Goes.

Thanks for looking and hope you can join us. I'll catch up later in between kniting, crocheting etc.

Nearly forgot, we're going out to the theatre tonight. We're going to His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen to see "The Mousetrap." I booked the tickets ages ago and I'm really looking forward to it. I never thought I'd see The Mousetrap as I've never been to London but it's travelling round the country to celebrate being onstage continuously for 60 years!

Have a lovely weekend whatever you've got planned.
