Special Silver Wedding Anniversary Card.

Last Tuesday I was at a knit and crochet (and chat) group in the church hall. I can do both but some people wanted to learn to crochet so I swapped my Tuesday afternoon at work for Tuesday morning. I wasn't sure how many people wanted to learn but I thought probably the more people who could crochet the better. It was nice to be able to help anyone that needed help and have a chat and coffee. One of the other ladies is a cardmaker too but she asked if I would make a special "fancy" silver wedding card for her daughter and son-in-law. I was a bit surprised and a bit nervous but said I would give it a go. I know her taste in cards is not mine but I thought it would be a challenge! The only snag was that was the 4th and the anniversary is the 10th!! I was at work as usual on Wednesday, out to a blood donor session and then shopping with my daughter for her birthday on Thursday and then it was my evening for crafting with friends. Friday I thought I really needed to do some housework and of course I needed my DT card for Totally Gorjuss.

I made a start on Friday evening and got some bits ready to put together. I had various ideas and discarded them! So on Saturday I knew I had to get it finished. Needless to say it didn't turn out as I expected it to. And funnily enough I liked it. In fact I decided that if she didn't need/want it any more I could keep it for my niece's anniversary in July.

She loved it so I guess I'll need to make another card for Angela!

I was asked for a big card and I usually make slightly smaller than 6" cards or smaller. Luckily I have a box of various sizes of scalloped cards I bought from QVC ages ago.

So this is it!

I used :-
Sentiment :- Serendipity.
Die :- Stampin' Up! Flowers are hiding the lovely shape.
Daughter & Son-in-law :- compueter generate cut out with a Nestie.
Flowers :- Nellie Snellen punches.
Embossing folder :- Couture Creations - Tied together.
Lace :- Ribbon Girl.
Lovely sparkly silver paper and pink card :- Stampin' Up!
Pearls from stash, silver embossing powder.

What do you think? I think it was fancy enough for my customer but not too extreme for my taste!!

Challenges :-
Fussy and Fancy :- Bling it on.
Totally Papercrafts :- Punches & dies - more than 3. I used 3 punches for the flowers and 2 dies for the sentiments.
Gem of a Challenge :- Emboss it.

Well I'd best go and do my ironing now. What an exciting life I lead!

Thanks for looking and for all your lovely comments.

Kat xx

  2. It's gorgeous Kat,love everything especially that glitzy paper for the border. Love the embossing, one of my favourites.Think it's better not to have to much time to make a card for someone, have a card to make for my DIL for in a fortnights time. Have known about it for the past three months and still not got it made, seem to have lost my mojo at the mo. I dare say it will surface again just hope not long about it. Carolxx
