Cards from WRI Show.

I keep thinking I'm getting back to normal and find that I haven't blogged for days - again!

I was at my own WRI meeting last night and decided to spend the afternoon baking for it. I did get some places so I suppose it was worth it. The problem is that now I have even more goodies to eat. As if I needed the extra calories lol!

This is my card for the congratulations card in any craft category. Luckily I'd taken a photo of it since I've completely lost it! I was in a bit of a hurry as I'd spent all Friday morning baking and making tablet and chutney. I thought I'd just use a congratulations card from my box but decided not to since I usually stamp the back of my cards with my name and realised this would not do for a show. Hence the use of the die cut as I didn't have much time to make the card and take all my entries to a friend to take to the show on Saturday! I thought the card was quite pretty but the judges preferred cards that looked as if they came straight from a kit. I've nothing against kits although I don't use them myself after all you can add your own touches but the winner looked as if anyone could have made it, no skill required. Not really a surprise as that's what usually happens.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV die cut.
Sentiments :- Craftwork Cards and Hero Arts.
Embossing :- Craft Concepts and Cuttlebug.
Ribbon, pearls and Glamour Dust.

This is my card for our co-operative table. The theme this year was the Diamond Jubilee. The six different items this year were a piece of headwear, a congratulations card, 6 cakes (2 varieties), 6 savouries (2 varieties), a jug of fruit punch and a craft item (own choice). We got good marks for all the items except the savouries which were very small and not what we expected. We got full marks for the layout and 9 1/2 for a couple of items including mine so I was quite chuffed about that. Later on I thought what didn't the judges like, what happened to the 1/2 mark lol!

I used :-
Image :- Hero Arts, stamped onto card and again on coloured DP and layered.
Sentiment :- Printed from computer.
Embossing :- Craft Concepts and Cuttlebug.
Ribbon, gems, Glamour Dust and black Stickles.

I'm entering the following challenge :-
Everybody Art :-Easel card.

Thanks for looking.

  1. Sounds like a serious amount of baking going on Kat, but great that you got some placings.

Both your cards are lovely, but the poppy one just does it for me, it's a stamp I love and use the set lots in class and it looks stunning paper pieced here.

  3. Fabulous cards Kat, especially your easel poppy card - that is a stunner and definitely 10/10 in my book! From visiting various craft events it always seems that the kit and decoupage cards are the winners .. .. not much hope for those of us that like to colour in!

  6. Both cards look gorgeous to me and you can see the time that has gone into them with the embossing and paper piecing. Both deserve a 10/10 in my book, not really into what I call pick and stick cards either, not much imagination goes into them really.
