Good morning everyone, sorry I've been a bit MIA this week. My aunt died last Saturday and we had to go and stay at my daughter's on Wednesday evening as the funeral was about 170 miles away at 10.30am! My aunt would have been 97 on the 13th of September so she's had a long life. She wasn't without health problems but she'd had a good life. She worked all her life but usually managed a holiday every year when she was younger. She had been all over and even went to Australia when she was over 80, with her cousing who was even older lol. She never married but had nieces and nephews, even as far as great, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Everyone in her village knew her and the turn out at the village church for her funeral was amazing. The minister had her down to a T and provoked lots of laughter with her eulogy. While we are sad and will really miss her I think we all feel very lucky to have had her as our aunt.
Aunt Jean was always busy, she didn't crochet any more but she still knitted. She was the one who taught me to crochet, as my gran, who was an expert crocheter, had died before I realised I wanted to learn. The most amazing thing for me was to see the tablecloth my Gran crocheted, probably about 55 years ago, on the communion table. It looked fantastic and as good as the day it was finished. I'm going to ask my sister-in-law to get me a photo of it. I felt incredibly proud and quite emotional when I saw it.
Anyway enough waffle because my internet connection isn't too brilliant just now!

What a wonderful tribute to your aunt Kat. It sounds as if she had a full life and was loved by many. It's great that she passed on her skills to you too.
ReplyDeleteLove the Northern Flurry card! Vicky x
Ooo I love this embossing folder, used it last year. Great card Kat. As for the x factor my father is with you. I know it's not brain taxing but after busy day at work it does make me giggle.
ReplyDeleteHappy crafting hugs Erika.
