Yummy Birthday Cake?

Hi everyone I thought I wasn't going to be able to enter the House Mouse and Friends Challenge. Luckily some stamps I had ordered from Windrush Cards and Crafts came and I couldn't resist this cute image!

I used :-
Image :- House Mouse.
DP :- MME Everyday Flair.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Twine :- Ribbon Girl.
Glamour Dust, gems, ribbon and charm.

Don't you just love that cute image and that lovely strawberry charm? I can't resist House Mouse, I've got one or two of them lol!

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Charisma :- Glitter it!

Thanks for looking everyone. Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

Totally Gorjuss 95 - As You Like!

Good morning everyone hope some of you are looking forward to a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. Needless to say I'm working this morning and Monday too!

This week at Totally Gorjuss our challenge is "As You Like" and we are sponsored by the inimatable KennyK. As you might know this is not my usual style and I don't often use digis but this image was very easy to use. Even I had no problem re-sizing and printing my chosen image and it was really easy to colour. The DT were all given a choice of images by KennyK. Of course you don't have to use an image from KennyK or even a digi but if you want to we'd love to see them.

Sorry but the bad picture but the good news (for me) is that I had an email today to say my camera has been repaired and they're posting it back to me today. Thank goodness, I haven't got on too well with my little basic standby camera, as you can see lol!

I used :-
Image :- Digi from KennyK.
DP :- Bo Bunny.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Martha Stewart punch, retro punch and jewels.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Simon Says Stamp :- Sketch.
Papertake Weekly :- Dies to die for.
Die Cut Dreams :- Pink, green and coffee.
Creative Card Crew :- Handmade Flowers.

I'll try to catch up later with everyone. This evening we are going to what they call in Aberdeenshire a wedding dance. My husband's boss's daughter gets married today and the reception is at a very expensive hotel in Aberdeen. Anyone local may have guessed it's the Marcliffe and probably the only time we'll ever be in there! This is our second wedding dance this year and next month we have a wedding.

Pink!

Hi everyone. This seems to be another week where I haven't achieved very much! Well I have been busy but just crafted much. I have kept up to date with my DT commenting and visiting my favourite blogs. My broadband is so slow that even as little as this takes ages.

We're invited to and evening reception on Saturday. My husband's boss's daughter is getting married and some of the staff are invited. It's in a very posh hotel in Aberdeen and since we'll probably never be in there otherwise we decided to go lol! I made a little gift card to go with the present and I've posted a congratulations card that they'll get at the hotel - I hope. So this is the gift card. Not much of an achievement,is it? I was going to stamp something on the front but then realised that I'd probably mess up since there isn't much space to stamp. With my luck I'd get ink somewhere I didn't want it lol!

Hope it doesn't look too blurry. My camera is still away for repair and I haven't heard anything about what's happening. Looks like I'm stuck with the bad photos for a while!

I used :-
Martha Stewart punch and a scrap of pink Bazzill.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Cupcake :- A Gift Card. Honest it is a gift card, it's only about 3" square!
Truly Scrumptious :- Rocked up pink - use mainly pink.

Time for a coffee now I think. I can't believe the sun has come out now after such a horrible morning. When I took the dogs out at lunchtime it was dry again but really miserable. The dogs are out in the garden for a wee while as all they have in their heads is destruction. I'm sure two dogs are more than twice as naughty as one dog lol!!

Catch up with you all later.

Totally Gorjuss 94 - Cute and Cuddly.

Good morning everyone and thank goodness it's the weekend at last! I had to work on my day off on Thursday and was off on Friday instead. Lucky for me it was a lovely day even though I was inside most of the day. Having to work on Thursday was a pain in the neck at work as it was so quiet and all I could think of was the things I could have done if I hadn't been stuck there with nothing to do except try to read the papers.

This week at Totally Gorjuss our theme is "cute and cuddly", we'd like to see animals on your cards. Easy isn't it? And to really make you happy we're sponsored by Simon Says Stamp and you know what yummy goodies you can find there!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment and Card Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
DP :- First Edition - Festive Treats.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Lace :- Ribbon Girl.
Martha Stewart punch, Glamour Dust, Nesties & Sakura clear glitter gel pen.
I'm entering the following challenges :-
Creative Inspirations Wednesday Challenge :- Use a favourite stamp - this is one of my favourite Penny Black Christmas stamps.
Truly Scrumptious :- Lace it up.
Paperplay :- 3 different embellishments - snowflakes, card candi and lace; 2 DP and 1 lace.
Totally Papercrafts :- Christmas in August.
Stampin' for the Weekend :- Holidays.

I hope you like. Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

Less is More 28.

Well I'm not at the very last minute with my card for Less is More but not far off it lol! I'm not sure what I've done with my day off but I know it's not a lot. I hope it's been fine for everyone else because it's been an absolutely gorgeous day here in coastal Aberdeenshire. We've actually been quite lucky this week. Some days have gone to rain at night but at least it was fine during the day. Round about here combines and balers have been working flat out and it's good to see the harvest going ahead in nice weather.

A lady from church was having an at home day today in aid of CLAN. Anyone from the north east of Scotland, Orkney or Shetland will know that CLAN which is based in Aberdeen supports cancer sufferers and their family and carers. At the moment they are building super duper new premises not far from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and of course like any other charity fundraising is always ongoing. They have accommodation for anyone who needs it in the short term and also a holiday home on Royal Deeside to give people a welcome break. So it was nice to go along and have coffee and cake and lots of chat and laughs and support a very worthy cause. Well that was the morning over, wasn't it?!

This afternoon I had a few shots at making a simple one-layer card using ink. After a few binable attempts I raked out my Whispers pens which haven't seen the light of day for a long, long time. Then I thought I'd make a scrapling. With mixed success to say the least!

I used :-
Image :- Inkylicious.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Colouring :- Whispers pens.

Below is my first attempt. I realised after I'd stamped that it looked a bit daft with the stem ending in mid-air! I think I can probably do something to improve it but that's for another day.

I had a few tries to make a scrapling using this gorgeous butterfly and alcohol inks. None of them turned out well enough so I had a rethink about what to do.

I used :-
Image and sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Colouring :- Alcohol ink spritzed lightly with water.
Jewels :- Hobby House.

I'm entering this card in the challenge over at Stamp Something which is "thank you."

This was another attempt but for some reason the stamp tried to stick to the card. But all is not lost as I'll probably 3d another butterfly on top.

Well I'd best go and post this and enter the challenge since I've gone to all that bother lol! Then I need to catch up on my DT commenting and schedule my Totally Gorjuss post for tomorrow morning. I might even do some ironing. Isn't it funny how a fine day makes you look for washing!

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

Vroom, Vroom!

I've had a busy day today with cards. My friend came over this afternoon and we got some cards made for the communion tokens. I think the lady who asked if I'd make them will be surprised when she sees how many I've got ready. I still need to make some to hold 4 tokens as we've just made the single token ones so far. I would have made some tonight but I really needed to make a birthday card for my big brother. Even at my age I think of Jim and Hugh as my big brothers as they are 12 & 9 years older than me. Jim is the eldest and his birthday is on Friday so I need to post his card today!

I used :-
Image :- Hero Arts.
Sentiment & Card Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
DP :- DCWV - Linen Closet.
Buttons  and string.

Isn't this paper gorgeous and just perfect for a male card. I think the image is perfect for a male card too, especially for my brother. He's a time served motor engineer and latterly had his own business for over 30 years. Hope he likes it! I had to add the buttons after I managed to get ink on the image when I stamped the "Happy Birthday." What a clumsy idiot I am!

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Cupcake :- Sketch.
Craft Your Days Away :- Birthday.
A Spoon Full of Sugar :- Birthday.
Pile it On :- Blue, blue, blue - use 3 shades of blue.

I have to work today as my colleague is going to a funeral so it looks like I'm going to be at the last minute with my DT card for Totally Gorjuss - again!!

Thanks for looking, hope you like?

Another Penny Black Christmas Card!

Hi everyone, here's the other card I made at the crop on Saturday. Yet another Christmas card. I think you'll be getting fed up with my Christmas cards. I think I'm up to 22 now so still a long way to go!!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment and Card Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Nesties, Cuttlebug embossing folders, Martha Stewart punch, Glamour Dust, jewels and ribbon.

I love these PB hedgies, they're so cute. I think 12 of my Christmas cards so far have PB images.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Penny Black :- Touchy Feely - texture - ribbon, glitter, embossing, snowflakes.
Secret Crafter :- Christmas is Coming.
Fussy and Fancy :- use a lot - use 3 or more of your favourite embellishment - 3 snowflakes (plus the embossed ones lol!).
Ribbon Girl :- Use ribbon. (I think I bought it from the Ribbon Girl!)

Hope you like and you have time to leave me a quick comment. I'm hoping to get on with the packaging for the communion tokens I mentioned on Sunday and if I can get one finished I'll post it tomorrow.

Sunday 14 August 2011

Penny Black Christmas.

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a good weekend. I was at a crop yesterday and managed to make 2 whole cards. I'm not usually so productive at a crop. I usually still have finishing touches to do but not yesterday! And this is me just getting round to posting.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment & Card Candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Glamour Dust, Nesties, Cuttlebug embossing folders, Martha Stewart snowflake punch,
raffia ribbon from stash.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
One Stitch at a Time :- Anything Goes.
Penny Black at Allsorts :- Free and Easy.

I got involved with doing something else this afternoon. We've been doing a lot of fundraising at our church recently for repairs. We've had wet rot, dry rot, needed new windows and now there is scaffolding up at one of the corner towers. We've had the usual fundraisers - quiz, sales tables, marmalade sales, just the usual things and more to come. Someone found lots of old communion tokens and thought people might like to buy some. They range in age from 1700 to 1844. I've never even seen a communion token before as since I joined the church only cards were given to members by their elders and now not even that. Not sure if this happened anywhere else or if it is just a Scottish thing or even if it was just the Church of Scotland or other Presbyterian denominations too. A friend who is an experienced cardmaker was asked to round up some other cardmakers and organise some suitable packaging for the tokens so we could sell them to anyone who was interested. Unfortunately my friend suffers from M.E. and is often too tired to do very much. She's made a couple of samples up so I have these plus the materials need to make about 40 cards. Card has been printed with a picture of our church and paper with inserts telling a bit about the tokens. So I have been sidetracked this afternoon trying to sort out some of the bits so I can make a card. I need to ask another friend to borrow a couple of her nesties as it would be easier with two sets. Doesn't make sense just now but when I get a card made I'll let you see and all should become clear!!

I'm off to schedule another post now and do my ironing. What an exciting life I lead lol!

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all later.

Totally Gorjuss - 93 - Circles

Good morning everyone and here's my card for the challenge over at Totally Gorjuss. This week our theme is "circles." So you could make a circle card or use circle shapes on any shape of card, circular embellishments or spotty paper. Whatever you like. If you pop over to the Totally Gorjuss blog you can find out who won last week and also get inspiration from my teamies' lovely cards. We're sponsored by Crafters' Companion with £10 to spend in their fabby store.

 I used :-
Image :- Stampabilities.
Sentiment and card candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart punch.
DP :- First Edition.

I'm not sure if this fits any any challenges but if I find any I'll add them later.

Thanks for looking and have a lovely weekend.

Penny Black 163 - Anything Goes.

Hi there, I'm trying to do this really quickly as it's a bit near the deadline for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. I'll come back later and explain what I used!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment & card candi :- Craftwork Cards.
DP :- MME
Martha Stewart punches and Glamour Dust.

Hope you like, I think it turned out not too bad for a quick card.

Thanks for looking and I'll be back tomorrow with my card for Totally Gorjuss. Enjoy your weekend.

Less is More 27 - Colours of Your Flag.

Well here I am again with another dodgy photo. When I phoned about the problem with my camera they said to send the charger, cable, battery and phone back to them. And it could take 2-3 weeks! Disaster!! Between the dull wet weather here and a less than brilliant little camera I'm going to be struggling to get some decent photos.

I used :-
Image & sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Inked with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.
Ribbon from stash.

I'm entering the challenge at Less is More :- the colours of your flag. There aren't many colours in my country's flag. The colours of the Scottish Saltire are blue and white so I've made a very simple card with Distress Ink and linen card.

It's been a really nasty wet day here and the dogs are even more badly behaved than ever as they haven't been able to get out in the garden and get rid of some of their excess energy. One of them even ripped a hole in his bed earlier. I think it was just spite because I wouldn't let them through after their lunchtime walk. 2 Labradors take a lot of drying especially since they keep moving about and trying to lick me and knock me over. So sometimes they're neither dried nor left alone!!

Thanks for looking.

Flowers :- Wild Orchid Crafts.
Ribbon :- Ribbon Girl.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Colouring :- Promarkers.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for looking.

Totally Gorjuss 92 Sketch.

Good morning everyone and since it's the first Saturday in August it's time for another sketch challenge at Totally Gorjuss. As usual we are sponsored by the ever generous Joanna Sheen.

I've still not managed to reach 20 Christmas cards yet so here's another one!
I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute square with some added bling.
DP :- First Edition - Festive Treats.
Sentiment and card candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Lace :- The Ribbon Girl.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart punch.
Glamour Dust, Sakura clear glitter gel pen, Nesties.

I'm sure there are challenges to enter but I'm writing this late on Friday evening at my daughter's house so I'll check on Saturday when I get time. Or should that be if!

Simon Says Stamp :- Christmas in August.
Paperplay :- Christmas in August.

Poppy and I are going to make biscuits on Saturday. I brought some chocolate chips with me so we can make chocolate chip cookies. Yummy. I think we'll do that when Oliver's having a nap!!

I don't think the weather forecast is very good for us but enjoy your weekend whatever you're doing. Catch up with you all later and thanks for looking.

Winner of my candy for the House Mouse & Friends Blog Hop.

Hi everyone, I've chosen a winner now from the comments left on my card for the HM&F 100th challenge and blog hop.

The winner of the flowers and bling is Debs. Congratulations Debs, please email me with your address by Thursday 4th August so I can get your prize in the post before I go away babysitting this weekend.

Monday 1 August 2011

Is it just me?

Maybe it is just me but does anyone else find it more difficult to make a card for a friend who's a cardmaker too? When I started this card I had no idea what I was going to do lol! My friend's birthday is tomorrow but I know it's safe to show you the card as she doesn't use the Internet.

I used :-
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Background :- Hero Arts.
Flower and butterfly :- Magnolia Doohickey dies.
Stamping and edging done with Stampin' Up! Lavender Lace.
Ric Rac, Brad and Shimmer Dots from stash.
Deckle edge Nestie and Glamour Dust.

What do you think? I hope she likes it. I'm quite pleased with it considering it just sort of happened. Did you notice I used my favourite colour.

I didn't make it with any challenges in mind but I think it fits the following :-
Totally Papercrafts :- Bling it up.
Secret Crafter :- Monochromatic.
Sir Stampalot :- Whatever You Fancy.
Crafty Cardmakers :- Flutterbies.

Well I'm off now to have a look at the entries for the candy I offered as GDT for the House Mouse and Friends 100th challenge and blog hop. So if you entered the blog hop, the challenge and left me a comment remember to pop back tomorrow to see if you've won.

I'm also going to catch up with my DT work and visit my blog friends who I've been neglecting lately. I've not achieved anything today in spite of having a day off because of a local holiday. I could get used to not working on a Monday. Last week I only came back from babysitting on Monday and next week I have my WRI outing so that's 3 Mondays in a row. Fantastic.

Thanks for looking and don't be shy, feel free to tell me what you think. I'm always encouraged by other crafters' kind comments.
